We weren't expecting much when we pulled into this little Mexican restaurant in a small town, but sometimes the best places are the ones you almost drive past. This place turned out to be a true hidden gem. The food was fantastic, the drinks were just right (possibly a little too good), and the atmosphere had that warm, relaxed vibe that makes you want to sit, talk, and order "just one more" round. Everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. By the end of the meal we were full, happy, and already talking about what we'd order next time. If you find yourself nearby, do yourself a favor and stop in. Just be warned... you may leave planning your next visit before you even get to the parking lot. read more

Food is absolutely amazing and the staff is even more so! Lots of food for the amount you pay and always fresh! Highly recommend!

You can tell I love Mexican food! So today we stopped at Queso Salsa for dinner. The restaurant was clean and we were seated very quickly. I got the tropical burrito, and my guy got the birria burrito with beef . My burrito was huge it had bell peppers, rice, chicken, shrimp, chorizo and pineapple, with a cheese sauce over the burrito. In the end it was a little sweeter than I liked. The bell peppers could have been chopped smaller as well. The birria burrito was good and savory. They give you chips and salsa however, the salsa was low on seasoning and we had to add salt and a little hot sauce to bring out the flavor. I also ordered the sangria margarita which was delicious. There is sitting available outside with a great view of the train museum .The menu is a bit overwhelming. Service was just okay as there was a language barrier with the waiter. Not really sure if I would go back. It was just okay for me. read more

Queso Salsa really is the most superior Mexican restaurant in Rowan County. From the buttery fresh tortillas, to the delicious fresh guacamole. Everything I've ever tried has been good, and the beer is COLD! read more

Visited for lunch during a business meeting. Food and service exceptional. Prices are extremely reasonable. The restaurant is your typical Mexican fare. It's average in terms of noise with booths and tables spread across two rooms. read more

My family and I order take out from this restaurant atleast once a month. We can handle the occasional cold rice or quesadilla, etc; but when we pay 10 for a queso and we open it to find it like literal milk consistency then i'm going to complain. The chips were also extremely stale. I've never had an experience like this here and i'm so upset that i have to leave a review like this! read more

We recently went to Queso Salsa at the recommendation of a colleague and were excited when we walked in and saw the heavy wood and colorful decor reminiscent of old Mexico. It was casual and open but not too noisy We noted that the make guacamole at your table and decided to try it. Good choice!! Our waiter came to the table and confirmed which ingredients we wanted and how much of each. The end product was perfect! When it came to the entrees, we got the large fajitas (delicious and huge!), Al Pastor street tacos (yummy and sooo much meat...one taco could be split between two tacos and still be plenty filled), and a ground beef taco meal (the taco was the low point with not enough seasoning). Their refried beans are tasty and have good seasoning. I wish they had a nice avocado, tomatillo salsa for an option with the chips (which are warm and fresh), but their house salsa, while very mild keeps you coming for more. Definitely will be returning! read more

Everytime we go here the food and service are OUTSTANDING! They have the best Mexican food in Rowan County. The location is great and they have a great patio if you want to enjoy the view over to the transportation museum. The Aguas Frescas was HUGE and sooo yummy! I can't wait to try all the flavors! read more

This is a nice place, provided you're not a hayseed who doesn't understand the World Cup happens once every 4 years. The salsa is a lot tastier than most of the other local places, who seem to be catering to the folks who want things bland. I overheard someone order a "cheese dip," meaning the queso salsa... which is literally the name of the restaurant. Anyway. The portions are generous for the price, and there's a nice variety on the menu. Nice to have a decent place to eat in Spencer! read more

Great service and amazing food! They are very accommodating! I would highly recommend

Quick responsive service from friendly staff. Loved the Loaded Birria Fries and the Jumbo burrito Durango. The facilities were clean and comfortable. Great spot to "refuel" during our day at the NC Transportation Museum. read more

Amazing food! Great staff! Food is always hot and fresh! The drink menu is also very good. I eat hear at least once a week!

If you're looking for terrible customer service, this is your spot. We arrived with a reservation for nine, confirmed via text. They had no table, no explanation, and not even an apology. Just a shrug and indifference. A reservation is a commitment--clearly one they don't take seriously. Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere. read more

Best little hidden gem in Spencer, NC Food is absolutely amazing The staff is phenomenal Prices are very affordable and generous portions to boot!!!!! Home made green sauce and HOT red sauce but you have to request it. It is not the the regular salsa they bring with your chips which is great as well. We stumbled upon this restaurant quite by mistake. And...we are so glad we did! Leo, our favorite waiter is fabulous!! He calls us by name when we come in. Their top shelf margarita is so delightful...not too sweet, not too tart. El Supremo is our favorite. My ONLY complaint would be there are no booths. I have a bad back, and regular tables and chairs are not the most comfy. Their salsas are quite tasty. Ask for Leo to be your server when you go!! Tell him, Lee and Tony recommended him!! read more

The food was excellent and they don't skimp on the portions. Excellent all the way around!!

They still have a few kinks to work out but food was INCREDIBLE, service was INCREDIBLE even though it was super busy we were still checked on frequently. Food arrived quickly. We were here opening night. Great atmosphere. Can't wait for them to get their liquor license ! read more

Wish I could leave zero. Got sat down with family, got chips and salsa, no one took drink order, no one even looked our way. 15 minutes later we decide to leave and all the wait staff up front watching the soccer game while 1 guy waited on the rest of the restaurant(excluding our table). Would not recommend stopping here if you're in a hurry. read more

Really is a great place to eat, I have been about 5 times in the past two weeks and have even invited friends to come try and none of them have said anything negative about it. Proportion sizes are fair, and their tomatillo salsa I would definitely ask for every time I go. The service is great, they are on top of it most of the time. Only thing I feel like some people would have a problem with is the seating. There are no booths to sit in because it is still rather an upcoming restaurant. There has been one time it kind of slacked but overall a great place to eat and I would definitely recommend to anyone. read more

By far the best food I have ever had locally. The service is great and fast. Good for big or small groups!

Quite a few similar restaurants in the Salisbury area. This was our go to restaurant in the Spencer area but is slowly going down hill. Our food was for the first time mediocre. My wife had the taco salad that was just that; lettuce with a little chicken in a shell bowl. Thats it. No cheese no beans no anything else that makes up a decent Taco salad. I had a Burrito Durango that was a mixture of chicken shrimp and beef that ended up being almost entirely chicken except for one single shrimp, no beef. Service was very poor. Food took a long time to bring out and our server ignored us. It took us 20 minutes to just get the check after having to ask other servers. I asked the greeters in the front to talk to the manager. They giggled and pointed to the person who was our server. There are many other similar restaurants close by. I recommend that you find one other than this place. read more
