Awful.. Service was cold and sad. Ambiance there was none. It's not inviting and appears run down. We tried their ever so "popular" quesillos and it was a disappointment. Mom shares how these are a Nicaraguan staple and reminded her of her youth, and so she found them being featured in Instagram so we made the trip to South Miami for us all to try. Let's just say we did and we will never come back. Unfortunately it's a no for us. If I could leave zero stars I would :(

Tucked away a in discreet shopping center in Sweetwater, this little Nicaraguan place has the absolute jewel of Sweetwater... Quesillos. It is a Nicaraguan tortilla with cheese, onions and lathered in crema! Delish!

Que cosa mas ricaaaaaaaaa ! It's sometimes hard to find a good tasting quesillo , y en bolsa ! This place is your typical small fritanga but with great tasting quesillos !

Have been to Don Mario's place for around 30 years, always the best tasting nica food in Sweetwater, those trenzas quesillos are to die for. Highly recommend.

Haven't been here in years! But like everyone else has said in the comments, it's hard to find a place in Miami with this typical dish. Cheese lovers this is for you. Tortilla, quesillo de trenza, cebollitas, and drowned in crema Nica. Soooooooo good! Prices have gone up a bit since the menu pic was posted by someone else in the comments but it's like everything. They no longer close at 9 PM but at 8 PM. By 7:30 PM there's just a few fritanga options left. Ordered some nacatamales too. They have with or without Chile. Excited to try them!

Great place. Small place but amazing taste. The best quesillos in town!!!! Great selection! Great service!

    The best Nicaraguan quesillos.

Good Quesillos (hot tortillas with cheese, sour cream and onions). I have been coming here for years and the food is always good. There is no tables so all is basically to go but we'll worth it.

The owner was kind enough to take a picture of us.

When you walk in the restaurant is very clean but it's very busy so pack your time and patients the line moves very fast so that's a plus. When you go there just know that English is spoken very little so learn how to order your food In Spanish it's shows that you at least tried and they very gracious that you tried. Now to the food very delicious and well season I was a little disappointed at how much meat they gave but that was my eye being bigger than my stomach. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Miami.

He recommended a couple of places but we decided this was the closest to us and so we came here. At first glance it doesn't look very appealing from the outside but once you go inside you know your are in the right place. It was packed with people picking up to go orders and on the other side of the place was a huge line of people waiting to order. The line moves pretty fast .We didn't know what to order so we asked the gentleman in front of us what he normally gets. He told us a few of his favorites and so we sort of knew what to get. So you get to the front of the line and it's sort of like Panda Express you tell them what you want from the food in the containers. I chose gallo pinto which is rice and beans mixed together and also got fried pork which sort of tasted like Al pastor and I also got something that is similar to ropa vieja. My husband got the black beans and carne asada with a tortilla. Oh and they have queso frito which we both had .I also got fried plantains and we ordered a manuelita which is like a pancake with something sweet it tastes like pancake with lots of syrup, but not overly sweet. One of the workers came to or table and brought us something that was round almost like a small donut hole. Except it was dough and not to sweet . She said she didn't want us to leave without trying it. I am so happy that we got out of our comfort zone and decided to come and try this food. It was so good. Oh I almost forgot that they also serve you a salad not really a salad it's cabbage and carrots in a vinegar sauce. ( sort of the cabbage that goes on top of Pupusas) and they also have us a sauce which was not that spicy at all but it ha little pieces of diced carrots ana onion . I won't lie that I came home and started to look for Nicaraguan food places in my city. Because it was so good.

We started with melon and dragonfruit drinks which were like aguas frescas. For starters we tried the Taquitos and Chancho con Yucca and they were excellent. The pork tenderloin chunks in the Chancho were done well and had a tasty coating of spices. We loved the chopped cabbage. We also liked the pulled beef in the Taquitos. The fried beans were creamy and delicious. In fact, everything on our plates was delicious! For mains, we had the Fajitas de Carne and Lengua en Salsa. Both were very good. I haven't had a tamale in a while so I decided to try the Indio Maiz; the sweet corn was good as was the sour cream and soft cheese. Yum. I really enjoyed Maranos. The portions were good in comparison to Los Ranchos and the steak was extremely flavorful and soft. They also have a selection of sauces for the steak or your meal. The service was great. Our only complaint was that they served canned beverages. If you are somebody that drinks a lot of soda, the bill can quickly get expensive. We love Nicaraguan food and frequently dine at other places but this restaurant by far is the best. The wait can be long on the weekends with larger parties so just be aware of that.

This particular trip was special because I took my hubby with my group of college friends and we sat in the restaurant. I had no clue the inside decor was western themed, and it was equal parts random and perfect for the chaos outside in the take out area. Most people seem to go the take out option from the cafeteria window, surrounded by coin operated games and gumball machines. They have a huge menu but the carne asada is the best thing on the menu hands down. Service is quick, but like most dive places in Miami, you're not in it for the chatty waitresses, just the sitting and taking up space over beers for 3 hours with your buds.

Instead I ordered a carne asada which is just steak, as well as rice and fried cheese. The entire plate was $20, which is great for the amount of food you get. I also ordered a cacao which is like a chocolate milk made with real cacao. The only downside was how long it took to get my drink, you have to go to a separate window to order drinks or dessert. There was 2 people in front of me and it took an extended amount of time to get just 1 drink and a sweet treat. It was obviously worth it but a bit inconvenient. Anyways, you should definitely check this spot out for authentic Nicaraguan cuisine.
