The friendly multilingual staff flip between speaking English and Spanish to customers. They're quick to tell a joke and welcome you inside the restaurant with a ¡Bienvenidos a nuestra casa! Best staff! They make you feel like one of the family! It was a delight to my ears to hear Spanish language being spoken. It was also a delight to listen to the vibrant music played inside the establishment. So many great songs. I heard a Rodrigo Amarante song being played, followed by popular hit songs. From sizzling fajitas, to mouth watering enchiladas, their menu celebrates Mexico's rich culinary heritage. The tortilla chips and salsa were fresh. They charge extra if you ask for another serving. The chicken chimichanga and the chicken* (and beef) enchiladas suizas were great. They were served with rice, refried beans and salad. The pozole was big enough to have as a main dish. It was a fiesta of flavours! Nestled in the heart of Port Perry, this restaurant is a gathering place where friends and families can create lasting memories.

First, let me address items that could be improved... - The starter chips and salsa, while complimentary, are too small. The serving should be at least double the size, and the chips should be warm. However, if you ask for more, they will happily give you another serving. - The desserts, we tried the Sopapilla and the Churros. For the Sopapilla, again they should be warm and rather than drizzle, provide the caramel or chocolate so a person can dunk the pastries. For the Churros, they were over fried, very oily. So less time in the fryer, more light and fluffy. And again, no drizzle, with Churros you want to dunk into the caramel or chocolate, a lot!!! Ok that's it for the improvements. The rest of the experience was excellent. Starting with the drinks... great stuff! Great flavor, great presentation and they pack a punch. For the entrees, we had combo dishes that included enchiladas, burritos and chimichangas... mostly with beef and chicken, along with various hot sauces. They were excellent and good size portions. We've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years, the food here was definitely one of the better ones we've had. The restaurant is on the small side for sure, but the atmosphere is great and the service very friendly. In the summer they have a great little outdoor patio with lots of shade. They have lots of parking and is perfect location if you plan on spending the afternoon in the park or go for a walk downtown.

We saw a Fat Bastard Burrito…read moreand figured this would be a good choice for everyone in our party because it would most likely be: 1.) Quick 2.) Hearty 3.) Cheap. We were needing to get back on the road to make it to our cottage before sundown, and we still had a lot of driving ahead of us. When we entered the eatery, we were promptly greeted. The two employees were very friendly and patient with us as we perused the menu. One of the things that instantly stuck out to me was the myriad of options as far as proteins were concerned. There were many options and surely everyone would be able to find something that worked for them. The way it works is once you make your order they will build your bowl or burrito to your specifications and then add the protein in last. For my bowl I got: Rice, Black Beans, Lettuce, Corn, Noodles (yes, noodles!), Crunchies, Cheese and Sour Cream. For my protein I got the Crispy Fish. Okay, this bowl was sooo good! The Crispy Fish was the standout- it was freshly fried and was a great complement to the other items in the bowl. I loved every ingredient in the bowl except for the shredded cheese because it was giving more of an oily taste as opposed to a smooth, mellow dairy sensation. The portion was very large and I was able to parlay this late lunch into my actual dinner once we got to our cottage. We ate our meals in the dining room which only had about 4 or 5 tables. It's definitely more of a grab and go type establishment, but we were grateful to have a place to eat our meals instead of having to scarf it down in the car. There was an accessible restroom too that was a welcome sight as we had been on the road for a few hours and had several more hours of driving ahead. Overall, Fat Bastard Burrito was a great experience. The food was great, it was quick and was an excellent value. Way to go FBB!!!

I was surprised to find a Mexican restaurant in Peterborough but hey, rating were okay and we were craving so why not. It was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is a decent size that you could easily have a larger group have food. The staff was kind and patient and made sure we had everything we needed. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a couple of tacos and the Mexican hot chocolate though everyone else in my group ordered full meals. Everything looked super legitimate and reminded me of my favourite authentic Mexican restaurant near home - Mexico Lindo. Not one person left unsatisfied. The starter chips and salsa also got cleared out by our group, they were so good! If you're in the Peterborough area, hit this place up, you won't be disappointed.

We ordered the lunch special (comes with a soup & burrito) and got the Tortilla Soup (Soupa Aztec) and a chicken burrito, and then fish tacos, and a shrimp taco. I really enjoyed the tortilla soup, which is really beautifully plated and the pico de gallo and guac are delicious. My second favourite thing were the fish tacos, which were not fried like at most restaurants but grilled, and that was a pleasant surprise! All the food was fresh and appetizing. The only downside to the patio is that there were wasps that kept bothering us :( Other than that, a really great experience!

As far as the location goes, I must say they have very limited parking spots(but we found a spot). Parking spots were tight. However, there is ample parking at the big box store across the street, and they are on a bus line. They are not near other restaurants but stand out based on the loud Mexican music and big sign that has a Mexican flag Over all the service was friendly, attentive, and quick(especially considering how packed it was) They give nachos on arrival, sort of like how restaurants normally give bread, which were okay , but the salsa was bland. The lime margarita was amazing. I got the beef enchiladas, which were tender and loaded with food didn't quite pack the punch I was hoping for. My mom and my wife got the nachos with chicken;they didn't like it. So I tried it to confirm the following: the nacho platter with chicken was bland, with very little crunch. It looked like it was sitting around for a while as far as value goes, my wife's beer was more expensive than my margarita, which is a plus if you are an alcohol drinker like me but not for a beer drinker, obviously. The portions on my plate were small, but there were so many different items on the plate that blended together fairly well that the small portions didn't matter too much. And lastly, the smell of the place was nonexistent, which is odd IMO for a small restaurant.

The service staff is amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. 4/5 for atmosphere because it was cold in the restaurant, probably because it is January and this restaurant is in an old building. The food comes out super quick - even my steak came out very fast. Chips and salsa were complimentary and very tasty. We had 3 kids meal, enchiladas with mole, and steak. All the food was amazing and good portion size. If you feel like Mexican food - skip the chain Tex-mex and come to Mexico Lindon.
