Located in the parking lot of a car wash,…read morethis hidden gem is our go-to for a delicious bite whenever we venture out to the East end of Ottawa. Jay and his team know their flavours! The Steak Tacos are my absolute fav! I order my steak medium-rare then I add queso fresco, avocado, fire roasted salsa, crema and pickled onions. Did I mention that all toppings are free?! That's right - even cheese and avocado! That's pretty rare to find these days! Also worth mentioning are the Beer Battered Fish Tacos at La Ha. My hubby always orders them because he loves them so much. They're made perfectly every single time. We've also tried their Agua de Sandía and Horchata - both were excellent! If you're in the mood for always fresh and always delicious tacos, you need to check out this place! Note: La Ha Tacos also recently introduced new menu items like their Nachos, Taco Salad and Queso Cheese in case you prefer something other than Tacos.

The hubby, kid…read moreand I spontaneously drove up to this food truck Monday afternoon to grab a couple tacos. This food truck is located in a car wash parking lot in Orleans, with not a whole lot of parking. We arrived during lunch, around 11:50. Big mistake, I guess? There were maybe 5 people in line, so we decided to wait it out. It could not be that long right? The hubby waited in line while I waited in the car. It took him about 10 minutes to place his order. I believe it was somewhere around 12:09 where he came back to the car and said it would probably be around 15-20 minutes for the food. I contemplated him driving us back home and then him heading back for the food but we decided to just wait it out in case it was ready earlier than expected. I've never been to this place before, and did not do much research beforehand, but if I knew this place is known for the long wait times, I most likely would have skipped coming here, or just ordered online, which a lot of people were doing. That may have caused a back log of orders. Online orders, telephone orders and in person orders for a small food truck, with 3 people working....that is a lot of pressure, and it kind of screws over the customers placing orders in person. Fast forward to a screaming toddler, a person waiting in their car eyeing me for our parking spot (for 20 minutes...eyeroll), and a very slow food truck, we FINALLY got our tacos at 12:45pm. On to the food...everything is made in house, from the chips to the toppings. All platters come with 3 tacos, side of chips and salsa. You are able to add additional free toppings to your tacos like salsa, cabbage, avocado, ect. I am kicking myself in the butt for not doing so. I ordered the fish tacos, and the hubby ordered the pork. He noted that his pork was pretty dry and wish he added salsa to his tacos. Although, he did say they were good (but again, not wait 45 minutes good). My fish tacos were pretty flavorful, but I ran into the same problem with them being dry. The first taco I found the fish on the drier and chewier side. The other two were fine. It came topped with a crema sauce so that helped a bit.The chips were really good, and addicting. Their salsa that came with the chips was awesome and a pretty nice portion. The tacos itself are about 3 bites. The tacos were good, but waiting 45 minutes at a food truck is inexcusable, and left a sour taste in my mouth. I would not rush back, but this place is not a write off, because the tacos were good. Do yourself a favor and call in your order.

The food will be brought to you. At the side, there's a small salsa if you'd like additional condiments. We tried a plate of tacos and enchiladas. Incredible flavours! However, we were surprised to find that the service was more like a food court setup: you place your order and pay at the cashier, then go sit and wait for them to bring the food to your table while calling out your name. We ordered the carnitas quesadilla, birria tacos with cheese, and two margaritas. The total came to $76, which felt very overpricedespecially for Mexican food. The margaritas tasted overly sweet and artificial, far from a proper margarita. On a positive note, the ambiance and décor are definitely unique and fun, and the food itself was tasty. But for that price point, it just didn't feel worth it. Our meals came with chips on the side, and unfortunately, they tasted stale. Overall, while the place has a cool vibe and good food, the pricing and drink quality left us disappointed.

Hearing it was a Mexican restaurant I was excited as it is one of my favorite cuisines. Stepping foot inside nothing seemed off and it had unique overall vibes due to being inside a building originally from the1800's they mention. You can see some of the age/wear & tear the building has due to this. The kitchen appeared to be upstairs then they had multiple areas of dining areas. One looked quite full and we were brought to the other that had just a few tables in use. They have different painted murals as well as artistic displays. Some of those displays are simply just a variety of cups that honestly look like you'd pick up from the dollar store for a pool party. Other than those the art displays did add a nice touch but appeared random still. The buildings age combined with overall cleanliness of the restaurant were not great. Compared to almost if not every other Mexican I have been to the ambiance/vibes were bland and lackluster. Could use some more attention to make it really stand out. Lastly though the food menu was giant and drink offerings were vast as well. More flavors available for margaritas than maybe anywhere I have seen. My wife got a blueberry one and I got a peach to enjoy after our long drive. The peach was good and tasted like peach. The blueberry was less fruit and more candy/kool-aid. Food wise she got some carnitas tacos and the only real note was the tortillas used could have been warmed to have more sturdiness to them. I got the Flag Combo with rice & beans for a side. It was good enough to finish but the flavors were not what I expected for most of it. Everything seemed to have a unique flare/taste to it but in ways that just did not work. The cheese they used on the enchilada and beans had more of a pizza taste than Mexican. The three stars I think is fitting because nothing was amazing and nothing was awful just middle of the road. Overall if you find yourself nearby and want Mexican not sure there are many other options so give it a try. Maybe you will enjoy it more than more!
