I cannot afford this place. The 64oz growler fills start at $30, with the exception of a Sam Adams seasonal that starts at about $20... Keep in mind, you go into DC and you can get a 64 of Craft starting at around $16 directly from the brewer. Walked around the shop, same story. Very high prices indeed- see other reviews- I am not alone. I walked into the taproom and waited 5 minutes, nobody was there. I had to catch someone who was in the store. Wtih this many brews on tap, and those prices, I can't imagine the brew is always in good shape, not to mention the lines. Think about it. I would love to support this, and help them keep their brew fresh, but those prices are astronomical. I realize that MOCO is mostly to blame, but if the prices made more sense, maybe there would not be a need to charge so much-since business would most likely be scores better. I looked on their website- no loyalty/discount program of any sort is mentioned. I'll stick to 6 packs from a much closer shop. Good luck, owner. I really do mean it. AMBIANCE: Unassuming place in a slightly dingy strip mall on the north end of Silver Spring, MD on New Hampshire Ave. Inside is half beer/wine store and half bar/restaurant. The beer side has a few coolers and several aisles which are nicely wide. They have regular tastings and events. Only distressing note is a set of wide racks right in front of the front windows, through which shines brightly the afternoon sun, likely skunking any beers in sufficiently transparent bottles. The restaurant side features a very long bar and a row of tables. Most seats are rather uncomfortable metal bar stools. Sounds like I'm knocking the place, but I'm not. It's got a lot of character. SERVICE: One of the reasons this place is great is tied up almost exclusively in the smiling, genial Mike, who I think is the husband of the owner. He's an engaging, friendly guy who looks to make sure your experience at Quench is a good one. The few times I've been in, he's been holding down the fort in the bar area. He clearly loves the place and is very dedicated to it. I've had someone else serve me at the bar too, and that service was just average. Mike makes up the balance--what a mensch! BEER SELECTION: The beer store side of the house has slightly better than average selection. Most of the available beers are in six-packs or single large bottles. The singles are on the wire rack in front of the windows, so take your chances there. The tap list in the bar and restaurant is quite good. About 20 taps, regularly rotated, and nicely balanced between local and national brands, and various styles of beer. They have half-size servings for half price, and will gladly serve you a labeled flight on a nice board. Growler pours, too! FOOD: Appears to be slightly in flux. First time we went, it was mainly pub fare (but good): big soft pretzels, flatbreads, and so forth. Mike mentioned he'd hired a chef and they were changing over the menu. Next time in I was able to get a very nice charcuterie board with some excellent artisan bread. No other food experience to speak of, but what I have had has been good. VALUE: Mixed. Most prices are DC average (which means on the high end), but there were a couple of steals (Evil Twin Yin and Yang, $5 for a 12 oz bottle, which is surprisingly good for this area); alternatively, there were a couple of holy craps (Caldera Mogli 1pt9oz for $29!!!). Draft prices are average, but the half price pours are a smart choice and there are happy hour specials too. OVERALL: I view this place as a hidden gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside there's a decent selection, some good values if you look carefully, great and friendly service, and good food. I'm also predisposed to like any place where I can go to the bar and grab a pint, then sip while I shop for more beer. The only other place in my area with this kind of setup is Gilly's in Rockville, which is HUGELY overpriced and much more cramped. read more

FINALLY a craft bar that's close to home in the four corners/colesville area. I love this bar! Great local beers and AMAZING cocktails. The owner is always here and always says hi to us when we come in. The staff is very friendly as well. Love the pear and Gouda pizza, the house made hummus, the steak and cheese and so much more. Quench continues to be the best place in the area to find new, interesting, and exciting beer on tap. Some other reviewers seem to be confused so let me be clear: this is more taproom than bar. If you want a cheap miller lite or PBR then this is not the place for you. If you want rare delicious beers that are hand selected by a knowledgable beer guy (owner Mike) then this is a place you will love. The menu of beers is seasonal and always changing. Yeah the prices look high but I'd rather pay for quality and to try something I can literally not find at any bar for 50+ miles in any direction. A few other things to add: (1) owner Mike is friendly, knowledgable, and always behind the bar. We come in regularly and he always comes by to say hi. Can't beat good customer service; (2) lots of TVs in this place so a great place to watch the game; (3) Quench has a singer on Friday nights who is great. So if you are looking for live music the beer selection can be your added bonus; (4) if there is a bourbon barrel aged beer on the menu: order it and thank me (and Mike) later. read more

Great neighborhood place, better than average sandwich/deli thing going on, either to go or at the bar up to midnight. Love the club and the Italian sub, true Italian aged thin sliced meat. Great wine selection, a little pricey, but this place is not for the two buck chuck crowd. Another bonus is the incredibly missed Upper Crust Bakery comes on Fridays to peddle their bread and such and after work hours there are tastings. This is a breath of fresh air in an area of town where there aren't too many standouts in the bar or restaurant scene. They manage to top both lists around here. read more

Quench has the best craft beer selection in Montgomery County. Their draft selection is constantly changing with beers that I haven't seen anywhere else. Mike, Lala, and Pria are the most friendly and helpful staff I've come across is some time. Food is very good, but the beer is a "can't miss". Quench! Now that I live far from this place I miss it more than ever. The bartenders are great, friendly, professional, and always willing to help you with their extensive menu. The owners are always greeting customers and making sure place is up to standards. My favorite drink is their Classic Mojito or the Brazilian Capriniha, and food wise i recomnend the mediterranean pizza and their cubano sanfldwich. read more

I can't vouch for the food as I haven't had it as of yet, but the beer and wine selection here is pretty amazing. They also seem to have tastings pretty frequently. And the other reviewers are right...though the exterior has improved lately, it still looks like a really low budget store from the outside. I heard they had a lot of beers on tap and was very impressed with the selection. All the staff, including the owner, were very friendly. The food was alright, but I thought the prices for the beer were quite high. They do have a cool growler filling machine which makes the beer last longer, but again, prices were high. This is a "craft beer" location like a 7-11 is. Now maybe it is because I went in on a Sunday but I was really disappointed. None of the employees knew what a dunkel style beer was. They all thought it was a particular name. They couldn't answer simple questions about the flavor profile of several porters and stouts I was considering. Overall this crew made an impression on me, sadly for the business it is one that does not make me ever want to spend money there. read more

Wanted a beer and it looked like the closest place would be TGIF's. Come to the rescue Yelp!! Found Quench with its 20 craft beers on tap. In a small strip mall and the interior is lit up brighter than a dentist office. However they do have good beer (didn't try the food on this trip). Only issue was I ordered a #11 (Bourbon barrel beer) and turns out they brought me something else (Belgium Delirium red, more on that in a minute). I thought it was great. Then my buddy ordered the #11 as his second beer as he liked it. The beer he received was not what my beer was. Anyway, it was all their error but they would not take back his beer and replace it with what I had. Live and learn. The Belgium Delirium Red was a slightly sour cherry/chololate dessert beer. FANTASTIC! Not for the light of wallet ($14 for a glass) but something to savor then think about later. read more

This place was really awkward. The guy was extremely nice but the waitress seemed brand new. I've asked questions about the drinks and the menu and she didn't try to find the answer all she kept saying is "no we don't have" "no we can't do it" No no no. The food was disgusting, my sister ordered a simple steak quesadilla and it was horrible. I ordered meatballs sliders and they were soggy and disgusting. Best taps in town! If you want great beers, you have to come to Quench! 20 fantastic beers on tap and they are flight friendly so you can sample them all and figure out your favorites. While there are several beer stores and bars on my regular commute home, Quench! has become my go to spot! They have a great rotating draft beer selection, pouring through 20 different taps, 2 of which are nitro lines. I don't often order food here, but when I have, I enjoyed the crab dip and the cuban sandwich. As a bonus, you can swing through their store on the way out to pick up a mix-and-match six pack, a number of craft beers (six packs and larger bottles), or your favorite bottle of wine. This place is great! Beer selection is awesome the owner and people who work here are super nice. Upper crust is there on Fridays and offers great bread and cookies. As a bonus they just opened up a great looking bar next door with one of the most advanced growler systems I have ever seen. The beer will keep for over a month and they have 30 different taps with exceptional and rare beers ready to go. This is the best place to go in the area hands down for great and hard to find beers as well as good times! Definitely stop in! read more

I went to the Tap Room which is the bar located on the other side of QUENCH Craft Beer. The bartender was a straight up BITCH.She was RUDE and her service was HORRID. We were greeted as soon as we sat down and everything was fine. We wanted to order food and waited at least 15 minutes before we had to wave at the bartender to tell her we wanted to order food. I asked her who was our bartender and she said anyone can help you. I told her know one has been over here to take our order and the service was very bad. She just looked at us and didn't care I asked for my check and left. YAMI is HER name and she is the worse bartender I have ever seen . really really great sandwiches. i've been making a special trip to get my beer and wine at quench, cause they have a great selection and are always bringing in something new and fun. the deli counter in the back is something that could easily be overlooked. don't overlook it. if it looks closed, asked, they'll send someone back to make one for you. i've tried 5 of the choices so far and all 5 of them are my favorites. read more
