Another sterile supermarket on the high street. Yes they are convenient, you may get the odd offer…read moreand you know exactly what you are going to get because it is the same as the other hundred Sainsburys Locals. Could you do a weekly shop here? Potentially if you are a single guy or girl. If you are a couple or in a family, forget it, you need a proper supermarket. This place is great for the impulse, that night pick up meal.

I gotta say, as a single student who doesn't want to pay 10 pounds for a meal every night (but is…read morealso too impatient to cook), this Sainsburys has been a lifesaver. The multitude of last-minute, healthy, pre-prepared meals here is exhaustive and has gotten me through many a late night (where I desperately try to find food after 10pm only to find every other store around closed other than the area's many fried chicken shops which, inexplicably, seem to be open 24/7!) As someone who tries to eat vegetarian as much as possible, I've also found the veggie-meal selection to be quite good - and there's an aisle of fresh produce veggies that's also satisfactory for anyone on the run looking for something nutritious. I can choose between a variety of salads chock-full of grains, nuts and healthy vegetables, pasta salads, fresh shrimp combination meals, indian masala portions, tapas, stews, veggie pots, etc - all for bargain prices (ie, under 5 pounds per meal). My recommendations as a Sainsburys pre-made meal connoisseur (ah, the joys of being a student)? 'Innocent' pots (full of vegetables and vegetarian options, with cute recyclable labels and a variety of flavours at 3 pounds each), the vegetarian/shrimp Indian platters (complete with jasmine rice, sauce and veggies) for under 5 pounds, and the quick-grab sandwiches, most sold for under 4 pounds and filled with tasty veggies. My last thumbs-up? The self-check outs. This way, when I'm too tired/rushed to deal with a human (which happens often), I can check myself out and hear an (oddly soothing) android voice tell me thank-you-for-shopping instead ;)

I was really shocked to see a grocery store attached to a mall. It's not really something you see…read morevery often where I'm from. I had to go in and check it out. As far as grocery stores are concerned I don't think there was anything special about it. But I really enjoyed walking around and picking up snacks. I like the way they had plastic covers over all the refrigerated section's. It feels really energy-efficient. And there was some pretty good pastry bread. I loaded up. I feel like the prices are reasonable, but the selection seemed a little off kilter. I'm not really sure what they were going for but I couldn't find the brands that I was looking for. I ended up getting substitute products that were pretty good, so I don't understand too much how that works.

I recently stopped by Waitrose while visiting London for work + play. I found the selection to be…read morequite good, and the staff and customers were very friendly. I'm including inclusive places in my Yelp reviews now when in US, Europe, or UK: I didn't experience any Asian hate or discrimination while I was there. They had a selection of chocolate, which I was happy with. Some people have compared Waitrose to Trader Joe's, but I hear that Co-Op may be closer to Trader Joe's. All in all, it was a pleasant experience.

This Waitrose is located about half a mile from kings cross station in the granary square area…read more What seems to be the front of the store is the rear, and you have to walk around to get in. I found that to be really annoying. I'm not sure why they can have two entrance points. That aside, the store has a nice selection of items including fresh fish and meat counters. Expect to pay more than your average supermarket at waitrose - even their generic items or branded items marked as being on sale are still more expensive than at Asda or Morrison; but they also do have items that other stores might not stock. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but would stop in if local. I can't comment on service because I didn't interact with any staff. Checkouts are self service.

From the minute you walk in you actually gasp at its size, clean and wide open spaces and on a sunny day, the sun shines through the large windows making it look even more stunning! I know what you're thinking - surely it's just a supermarket store? But ohhhh no. There's so so so much more to it! There's a wine bar, juice bar, bakery, cake bar - plenty of seating for if you'd like to sit and enjoy your purchases, oh and of course a great selection of groceries. There were actually a number of families and friends meeting here to enjoy lunch together so it's clearly very popular in the area. I know it's odd to say but if you are ever in this area do pop in, take in its beauty and enjoy a tea and cake - I can't tell you what the cake is like but I can tell you that you won't be disappointed about this store!
