We came for the 12 days of Christmas and I couldn't really find any lights beside the ones on the top of the ship. You have to pay extra for everything $15 for gingerbread house ridiculous! No signage although they had staff around no one helping direct. Most sitting around or taking amongst each other. The gingerbread display on the second floor was a joke dark with not enough lighting. The Christmas decorations were random and not enough. There are Christmas trees on the first floor but no lights. 2024 12 days of Christmas was a complete joke. I had been to Chill in 2017 where there was ice skating and an ice slide and tons of stuff to do. This year I bought tickets for 5 and it turns out all that got us was on the ship, which was unnecessary because we also had a dinner reservation. The money didn't allow us to do a single thing anyone else in the ship couldn't do. Then we had to pay more money to decorate a cookie ($4), use a pre-made kit to make a tiny snowman ($4) and pick out 5 things to glue onto a stocking ($8). There was a silent disco that my nephew enjoyed (free with entry) but otherwise this was an enormous bust. I felt awful for wasting everyone's time. I won't take a chance on a Queen Mary event again . read more

The previous reviews had me worried because everyone kept saying that last year's Queen Mary Chill was so much better. Maybe because I didn't have that to compare my experience to, I thought Queen Mary Christmas was fine. I had been to OC Fest just a few days before and even though it is bigger since it already has carnival rides, you still have to pay for tickets to go on those rides. Like my sister and I weren't able to go on the mini train ride and the giant rocking horse at OC Fest because they required tickets, but we were able to do those things for free at Queen Mary Christmas since they were included in the entrance fee. Both OC Fest and Queen Mary Christmas require an additional fee to go ice skating and the price was the same. At OC, the tickets were timed so that the rink wasn't crowded. We didn't go ice skating at Queen Mary just because we already did at OC Fest, but we ate lunch near the rink of the Queen Mary on New Year's Eve and it didn't look crowded. Another thing that was free at Queen Mary Christmas was the 4D "Polar Express" movie. It was short, but if you have little ones with you, it's probably just long enough to hold their attention and enough time for you to sit down and rest for a bit. There's plenty of opportunities to take photos inside and outside of the ship. If you have guests who have never been to the Queen Mary before, it's impressive to see in person and walk around inside of it as well. You can pay for the tour with a guide or just roam around for free which is what we did. Overall, my sister and I had a good time because we went in with the attitude that we would. If I could put 0 stars I would. You pay 26$ per adult and there is nothing even worth paying for. They give you a map which shows areas where you're allowed to enter based on the general pass. There are no signs on how to get anywhere so you see everyone lost asking for directions because the map doesn't explain it well and there are a lot of rooms where you can enter into. Once you find the correct area to enter there's nothing to do or see. They have a "Queen Elizabeth Exhibit" which is basically 3 small pictures of her and that's it. We drove all the way there expecting there to be "thousands of lights" as advertised and it's only the lights you see from outside the ship so no point in even paying. A complete scam. read more

These guys never seem to disappoint! Forget all of those other Christmas events, come to this one! I come to Queen Mary events all the time and they're truly amazing. Mom and dad, take an Uber and enjoy the bar. I've skating, live entertainment, food, train ride, face painting, arts and crafts, SNOW, and lots of beautiful Christmas trees with lights. They've hired marketing managers from Disney and in the last few years their events have grown and have become our favorite. I highly recommend this place (especially Dark Harbor Halloween). I felt things have changed around the Queen Mary these past couple of years for events. It was a nice day out with family and friends for this event. I was disappointed in the activities overall especially for children which was the main reason attending this year. Prices to enter are still pricey and I didnt feel it was worth it. (my opinion) Not having access to the Ship was also disappointing. Food was overpriced this year and not very tasty and very limited. Parking is the usual Queen Mary price $20. read more

What a disappointment. We paid $35 to get in ($29 + taxes and fees) per person but there was not much to do once you get in. The first problem is low attendance and the second problem is that once you are in, any additional activities cost extra. So we rode the carousel, took a picture in a snow globe and watch a 4 min 4-D movie for $35 each. If you want to ice skating that $15 more. If you want to make a ginger bread house, more money. Decorate a stocking, more money. So what did I pay $35 per person for?? They also made my daughter throw out her leftovers from our dinner on the Queen Mary when we entered the Christmas area. So sad I wasted money and a family night out on thIs. Even sadder for all the merchants that are sitting in empty booths loosing money every night because no one is attending. Definitely a departure from Chill, but that's not a bad thing. Chill had nothing to do with the ship, it could have been in any random parking lot. Seeing a period specific Christmas on a 1930s luxury liner was fun and memorable. Where else could you ice skate on top of a ship like that? The American Bombshells were amazing, the Santa room was awesome, the Gingerbread area was yummy, and the Story time with Mrs Claus was super cute. You have to first appreciate the Queen Mary and it's place in history itself before you really love it decorated for Christmas. Give yourself time to explore and wander the ship. WORSE THAN YOU COULD EXPECT!! My friends and I decided to go to Queen Mary after checking last year CHILL WINTER WONDERLAND reviews. Oh, you tell me. Nothing expected happens. No ice sculpture, no ice slide, no ice bumper cars, no fancy lights... They do allow you to do the ice skating with additional $15 but it is extremely small on the deck with no lights around. Sorry to say we were disappointed. They need to step it up. More chorus performances,more lights and Garland,a Santa with enthusiasm, staff at the bar was unenthusiastic, the greeting staff needs to be more enthusiastic too. Just trying to give some pointers for more of a successful business . Also the ice skating rink should have been more visible, decorated and Christmas music. The best thing we seen was the 3D movie that lasted 15 minutes. If you've never been to the queen Mary I guess it's worth $15.00 but they charged $22.00 plus tax and $18.00 parking. They don't have it together whatsoever. We bought VIP tickets and were booked for ice skating with the kids and in-laws at 10:30am, so we got it together early and got down there at 10:00. Apparently the skating rink isn't open until 1:30pm, and the security guard upstairs at the rink was unbelievably rude. We killed a bunch of time with the kids (not easy) until the Santa meet & greet at noon. Except Santa didn't show up for work until 12:30. Unbelievable. Its was my first time going to The Queen Mary Christmas so i didn't know what to expect. Its pretty pricey for such a SMALL event, 35 for GA & 65 for VIP. But, I LOVED IT! It was perfect for my 15 month old daughter. She loved the train ride & the carousel. The stocking decorating was nice but not all that & the gingerbread house was decent, could've paid for a cheaper house at walmart but i guess your paying for the experience. Pictures with Santa was about a 25 minute wait. Overall, it is way over hyped and overpriced but i had a great time watching my daughter have fun so i guess you can say money well spent. I would say that this event is definitely for parents with kids 12 and under. I didnt go ice skating but the rink was kinda small. Save your money!!! I always go with the family to enjoy ice skating, ice tubing and carnival like food and atmosphere during Christmas time. This time had none of that other than ice skating and still charges the regular rate as previous years. Oh and if your a hotel guest it's free which they don't tell you so you have to go through all these hoops just to get a refund on your general admission ticket. Pros: Boat well decorated- yes that's it! Cons: ice skating rink extremely small and over crowded-only allows "ONE" parent on upper deck to watch your ice skater skate!!! Yes "one", the upper deck is not wheelchair accessible so grandparents who want to watch their grandkids can not view. No Food options other than what's already on board which lacks in variety. Heater is on all day and night so when it's 80 degrees outside it's hot inside. Santa meet and greet moves at a snails pace and each picture costs $25-No bundle packages! The two shows they have which includes dinner is $80 per person. Unfortunately we came on a special event night and our room on A deck was directly below the dance floor so loud music right up till midnight. No more carnival rides, food booths, tubing, ice sculptures and Christmas decorations, etc. I don't feel it was worth the price we paid for admission. My family and I had a blast at the Queen Mary Christmas. I am sorry that the reviews online are just not accurate. Upon arrival, we did have trouble finding a human to direct us to the correct parking area. But, luckily I found a guy, on his break, and asked him and he moved a barrier to allow us to park right in front of the entrance area. Once we walked up to the Queen Mary, two very friendly employees came over and scanned our e-tickets and also put wrist bands on each of us. They were very friendly and explained to us where everything was and how to get to each thing most easiest. I noticed flyers and signs posted in several places to indicate where and when certain things were going on and times. I found it very easy to follow. We first went to the front of the ship for the 4D movie of Polar Express. I have to say, that short movie was really fun for us. We absolutely loved it! We then walked around the engine room area and did the ginger bread decorating. All of the employees were very helpful and talkative. After that we made it up to the tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 and enjoyed the live music. The live music was outstanding. I was able to hear them again later inside the ship in a corridor performance. After that, we went to the stocking making room and then to ice skating. The kids had just a great time doing those activities. Some of the complaints online are about not having food and drinks available, but we found a stand near the tree lighting ceremony offering food and drink, snacks, not meals - and found that to be sufficient to hold everyone over until we had dinner after our visit to the Queen Mary. We arrived by 4 p.m. and left just after 7 p.m. The 3-hours was more than enough time to do everything. I think the Queen Mary Christmas was great and something we enjoyed. Especially since it was our first time actually on the Queen Mary. If we didn't have the kids, we probably would have stayed longer to just tour the Queen Mary. I did notice the little village, just outside the Queen Mary in the parking lot was not being used, as it had been in years past for Chill. I would say that maybe for future years, that village is utilized with more activities and food/drink options and then have a walkway connecting the village to the Queen Mary cruise ship. One thing for sure is that it is entirely a different experience. There are so many cool photo ops that make the cost of getting on ship worth it. The light tunnel was super cool as well as the gigantic light tree on the front of the ship. My wife and I wanted to take our nieces and nephews along with my sister's family here because of the awesome experience we had at Chill last year. Found out it was on the ship itself this year, had some doubts, but went anyways so the kids could have hopefully a Christmas experience we had last year. Got there after paying $18 for parking. Getting to the event was very confusing because there were very few signs and the little that we saw didnt really tell us where to go. Making things worse, there were other events going on at the same time so it made it more difficult to figure out where we were going. Finally found our way onto the ship, and I was totally underwhelmed at the decor, especially after seeing how last year's was done. Everything was so spread out, it was difficult finding where everything was and it ruined the atmosphere of what was supposed to be a Christmas/Winter wonderland-type event. Ice skating was on our definite to-do list, but it took us a good 20min to find it even though we knew it was on the top deck because of all the confusing corridors. And my sister and bro-in-law had to carry their stroller up and down the stairs because even the rink was unaccessible by elevator. And the rink was super sad compared to the one last year. Plus we had to pay an additional $15 on top of the entrance fee and parking, unlike last year. No food booths either unlike last year. They ran out of hot chocolate even before closing, which we luckily got the last bits of. And my sister's family wanted to take a pic with Santa; they were told he'd be there from 630-8. They got there around 730 and Santa was no where to be found. An employee told them along with some other angry parents that he didnt want to do any more pictures. It took a few upset parents to finally get Santa out to take more pictures especially since it wasnt even time for him leave yet. Tldr: 11/10 would not recommend. The only saving grace for our visit to the Queen Mary tonight was the Christmas Follies show. It was a small intimate venue and the entertainment was fun and lively. Entertainment aside, our experience with some of the employees was dreadful. From the moment we walked up to the ship people were barking orders, demanding to see our tickets with a scowl on their unfriendly faces. It got worse! We were looking for the event room and walked into a room with an employee behind a counter. I proceeded to ask him about the location of the follies and was shocked when he began yelling at my husband who took a few steps behind him toward a wall of photos. This irrational man was yelling about tickets. He then told us that we needed tickets for the exhibit in that room. I told him that we weren't interested because we had tickets for the follies. He proceeded to say, "Yeah sure, I've worked here for 16 years. I've heard every story! I know how you people work!" I looked at him and told him to calm down and take a deep breath. I told him to show a little more respect toward us as guests. I assured him that we weren't interested in any Exhibit. We were there for the show that we paid $160.00 per couple for. It was an extremely unsettling experience that made a negative impact on our visit to the Queen Mary! Perhaps management can move this negative soul to a position that doesn't involve the public?! Not so Merry Queen Mary.... Update: This occurred on Thursday, December 6th . It was opening night for the Follies show. The employee was a middle aged or older white male. Not worth it. First off the staff was extremely slow and had no idea what was going on. We were told we had to pay for our 3 old son at the ticket booth and then when we went into the "park", they said he was free and we could get a refund. So we went to get a refund and they ended up charging us another $20 and now we have to dispute the charge with our bank. Aside from that everything is overpriced and underwhelming. $20 admission, $15 to ice skate, $3 for a locker, extra $10 for a little kid skate buddy. Absolutely ridiculous. The place was empty so there weren't any lines, but given the cost of everything and poor service I'm surprised anyone was there. So sad that this event has gone so downhill. read more

Loved that the event highlighted different cultures with unique foods and drinks to try. Last Christmas we went to the Queen Mary and although we knew that the Chill event was gone, we didn't expect it to be such a let down. The map given to us was useless. Nothing made sense on there. The signs around the ship were also not helpful. It pointed a certain direction and when we went, there was nothing there. Also, the workers seemed to be confused when we told them we were there for the Christmas event. There was a sign promoting a special Christmas cocktail and when we asked for it, the bartender had no idea what we were talking about. It appears that there was no effort put into the event. This year, we decided to give the event another chance. In my opinion, it was not worth going to. There were a few more entertainment this year but it still feels like there is so much more potential. You could walk through the whole event in 15 minutes. There wasn't much to do and only one vendor selling food. We went on the Friday after Christmas and one of the Christmas countdown blocks said "5 days" till Christmas when it was clearly after Christmas. It was a small detail but again, that made me feel like no one is putting any effort to making it special. We were debating going to the NYE event but feel like it's too risky to get tickets after what we've experienced during the Christmas events. Queen Mary is an iconic piece of Long Beach. Sad to see such low reviews for this event but as a sucker for history and Christmas, it definitely transports you to olden days of yore with historical pictures, lights, pictures with Santa, and holiday treats. I particularly loved the barbershop quartet singing Christmas music and all the light decorations on the deck. Definitely check this out since the cost is relative to most Christmas events - but this has a much richer history! We spent about $22 per person and we're able to have fun for several hours. I recommend coming here in the afternoon and staying until nightfall to get all of the perks of daytime and the contrast of lights against the dark sky as well. Went expecting equivalent of every other year. As soon as we walked in we were let down way past our expectations for the price and last experiences. After only being there 30 min we asked to get a refund since we have walked the ship countless times before as locals to the area and there is no real holiday attraction. I bought my ticket on groupon so granted I didnt pay full price, but my little one and I had a great time! We did everything that was included in our ticket and nothing else. We watched the 4d movie (my fav part), rode the carousel at least 4 times, rode the train 2x, the giant rocking horse and listened to the live christmas music. The fake snow was cute and plenty. I did buy one overpriced treat a chocolate dipped twinkie but hey its Christmas! lol The workers were super nice I especially enjoyed the carousel lady who made the parents get on the horses and not just stand next to their kiddies.
