Known locally as the "first shop" on account of it being the first you reach while trapsing along Queen Margaret Drive, this friendly store is half-corner shop, half supermarket.
Primarily it has thrived over the years by identifying that:
a) students live nearby, and
b) students don't like to walk.
As such, rather than simply stocking the usual newsagent fare, it has a small extension packed with the sort of niggly household goods which would generally require a visit to the supermarket - Waitrose, a further five minute walk away and Tesco, 10 minutes in the other direction.
It's perhaps a little pricier but you're paying for convenience, and with a license to sell alcohol as well, it's pretty much a one-stop shop for North Kelvinside's student community. read more
