Truly one of my favorite spots in the Boston suburbs! If you get there early enough, you have to get a breakfast sandwich as they sell out quickly on the weekends!! The sausage, egg, and cheese is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with any of them! If they are sold out of the sandwiches I usually opt for a ham and cheese croissant, which is also out of this world! All of their croissant goodies are so good as are the cookies and coconut macarons. The coffee is also incredible! I've been here probably a dozen times at this point, and each time the staff is so kind and attentive. I can't recommend Quebrada enough!!! read more

Quebrada in Arlington is a great bakery along busy Mass Ave! Per other reviews, the spots right in front of the bakery aren't always available but there are plenty of other spots typically available across the street. Each time I go the bakery is filled with local neighbors getting their morning coffee and pastry. Not much seating available but a nice opportunity to stand and chat with neighbors. I have only had the cupcakes here for birthdays and gifting, which are simple but great. Pricing is fair and even more affordable than some brands in grocery stores (with Quebrada's being much tastier). The display cases are filled with tons of other pastry options that I will have to try one day. read more

We had coffee and tried a scone and a muffin - all were just fine/ok but nothing with going back for - better than Starbucks but nowhere near as good as, say, Flour in Cambridge. The service was pretty poor and/or rude. We walked in late morning when no other customers were there. First employee walks out from the back and doesn't even look at us when we say hello. Second employee walks out from the back cursing (f****ng this and that), ignores us. Finally a third employee brusquely took our order and seemed put out by a couple of basic questions, paying more attention to their cursing coworker than to us. Very disappointed in my experience. I have a medical condition that makes it hard for me to digest dairy. I can tolerate a small amount of dairy if it's baked into a cake or cookie, but I can't tolerate any uncooked dairy (like buttercream or cream cheese frostings). I also can't tolerate any amount of chocolate. As a result I rarely am able to eat bakery cakes or participate in others' birthday and wedding celebrations. For my birthday this year I decided to take a chance on Quebrada since they advertise vegan frostings. I called specifically to enquire whether the raspberry preserve filling had dairy and they told me no, so I ordered a yellow cake with raspberry preserve filling and vanilla vegan frosting. I explained that it's ok of the cake itself has some dairy (as long as it's cooked) but I need the frosting and filling to be dairy free due to a medical condition. I didn't mention I also can't eat chocolate as I wasn't ordering anything that contains chocolate. When I was home with my family and cut the cake open, we noticed the "raspberry filling" looked an awful lot like chocolate. I called the store and they said the order form listed chocolate ganache filling - which not only contains chocolate but also contains heavy cream. They told me that as the cakes are made in Wellesley they could not confirm that the vanilla frosting used on mine was actually vegan nor could they make me a replacement cake. They couldn't even issue me a refund as no manager was onsite. The kind folks working there did offer me some cookies but it's not really a replacement for a custom birthday cake. They told me they'd leave a note for the manager to call me the next day, so I expected an offer to replace the cake or at the very least an apology once the manager got in but neither ever came. They did refund my credit card but never called me back. I'm giving two stars solely in recognition of the kind counter staff and tasty cookies they offered me. I will never order a cake from them again. read more

While in Arlington, Massachusetts had the chance to stop by my favorite family owned local bakery chain. Best and cutest shortbread cookies with granulated sugar on top. I'm a bit addicted really. We stopped in before the start of a summer road trip, so I grabbed one of their sumptuous savory egg and cheese sandwiches on their heavenly buttery flakey croissants for breakfast. I'm a tea drinker myself or else I would have had their coffee as I've seen the numerous reviews raving about their coffee menu. Their loyal counter staff was the friendliest! The ambiance is lovely with a few stool seats in the arched window to watch the charming hamlet Main Street business district world go by or watch one of the talented bakers at the other street window wielding her craft. I'm thrilled to support this idyllic neighborhood baking company whenever in the Boston suburbs of Arlington, Wellesley, Belmont, and most recently Watertown. read more

We stopped by here just walking around. The place is very cute and the staff is very nice and helpful. We ordered a chocolate cupcake and a raspberry jam shortbread cookie. The total was about $7. The cookie was delicious--not too sweet and has a nice crunch to it. It seems they make their own coffee which is pretty cool, but we did not order any coffee so I can't comment on it further. The cupcake, however, was a little subpar. It was dense and served very cold. We are waited for it to come to room temperature which helped a little, but it was still quite dense. Still five stars. The hot filled croissants and the hot chai lattes are getting me through this weird wet mild winter. The more "mature" people (close to my age) who work the counter are very friendly. There's almost no seating but that's okay because there are benches outside and interesting displays in the neighboring store windows to look at while you walk back home or to your car. read more

We have a family business near this establishment and my husband always buy his coffee there. Today, my husband asked me to stop by this place to get him his coffee because he was tithed up and couldn't make it. I was on the phone finishing up a work call when I went inside to get the coffee. When you get in there, the coffee is outside the employees' balcony, just like a self-service area. Absolutely no sign stating that customers should NOT take the coffee cup to make their own coffee. So, I went in, reached for the coffee cup and made my own coffee, while finishing the work call. When I went to pay, the employee just said very rudely: "next time you want a coffee, let us know and don't you just reach for the cup". I was taken by surprise! I apologized right the way, thinking I just missed the sign since I was busy on the work call. The attendant completely ignored my apology. When I look to see if there were any sign stating that customers should not reach for the cup or something similar to that, there were NONE! I told the employee that and advised they should place one sign there instead of being rude with their customers. I am very upset the way I was treated. It was my first time inside this place and I will never go there again, neither will my husband. They lost one regular client and another potential one. I am not saying anything about their food, since I didn't even have the time to try anything there, but the SERVICE and the ATMOSPHERE of thos place was not welcoming, especially after a long day at work. My family has been patronizing this bakery for as long as I've been alive. We get their decadent chocolate cake for birthdays and their scrumptious croissants for family breakfasts. Love this place. I love their cheese croissants for breakfast. Their cupcakes are delicious and reasonably priced. Plus, they have a bowl outside for my dog to stay hydrated. I love love love this place! My husband and I live around the corner and we frequently go to this place for a variety of reasons: Coffee: They have the BEST hot and iced coffee (Dancing Goats Blend is the best). I also love their lattes - and I buy their coffee beans by the pound (it is a bit expensive but so delicious it is worth the splurge). Pastry: Their pastries are delicious and clearly made with high quality ingredients and are very fresh! I love the fact that they offer most items in a petite version as I am always trying to practice portion control. My favorite pastry they have is the petite raspberry croissant. I also love their blueberry scones, savory croissants, almond croissant and pumpkin muffins. Orders to Go: This bakery has "Jo to Go" - basically a box of their coffee and will pack pastries to go. When I have an early morning meeting at work, I will call ahead and place my order and they have it waiting for me as I swing by on my way to work. Everyone in my office loves when I bring in their Dancing Goats coffee and pastries. My coworkers favorites include their blueberry scones, cinnamon buns and all flavors of croissants. Special Occasions/Cakes: I have gotten several different items for birthdays and special occasions and loved them all - Boston Cream Pie (excellent - one of the best I've had), Vanilla Birthday cake with raspberry filling and butter cream frosting (good - decorations were beautiful - fresh flowers and ribbons), and cupcakes - chocolate, vanilla and carrot cake - all amazing! I absolutely love their cupcakes! They also have a vegan chocolate cupcake that is delicious as well! Parking is street parking only (Mass Ave) and can be a bit tricky during rush hour (on the way to work in the AM) but I have never had a problem. Prices are reasonable - typical coffee shop/bakery prices, and well worth it as quality is higher than usual. They have some seating there but my husband and I always prefer to take things to go. I give Quebrada 5 stars for the things they make that I think are the absolute best. If you visit enough times you are sure to find something worth giving them similar high praise. My absolute favorites: -petite pecan rolls ($1.40 a piece) - I have brought a bunch of these in to work and gotten very high reviews. These always seem to be gone when I come in the afternoon (make more please! and save a few in the back with my name on it while you're at it) -strawberry torte cake (20$-30$) - Quite possibly my favorite cake of all time. No matter which size I get and every time I get this it's just as good. Fresh yellow cake filled with vanilla pastry cream & strawberries. Topped with fresh homemade whipped cream and chocolate covered strawberries! Their whipped cream frosting is the best. They have all types of different cookies, crossaints, and muffins which are mostly excellent as well. Great hours for a bakery (6-6 everyday). Always have my order on time, always accurate (I've placed about 4 or 5 orders here over the last couple years). Staff while always busy is usually friendly.
