I decided to try this place over the weekend and made a reservation online, which was easy and got us in without any issues. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, so the tables are fairly close together.
After we sat down, there was a little bit of a wait before we were greeted. During that time, we decided to start with a few small plates and see how everything went.
We ordered the okra, which was cooked in a cornmeal batter. It was crunchy, well-seasoned, and delicious. We also tried the raw oysters, which were fresh, clean, simple, and classic--exactly what you want from a good oyster plate.
The pork belly was another standout. The meat was beautifully caramelized with a sweet and savory glaze, and the fresh garnish added a nice contrast. Pairing it with the warm rolls, I made my own little slider, which was probably one of my favorite bites of the meal.
The final dish was the brisket with crispy Brussels sprouts, greens, sesame, and pickled vegetables. There was a lot going on, but in the best way. The presentation was beautiful, and the combination of rich, smoky flavors, crispy vegetables, and fresh herbs made every bite interesting.
Overall, everything was beautifully plated, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The menu had a nice mix of Southern-style comfort food, seafood, and more creative dishes. I'd definitely come back, especially to try the tasting menu, which requires 24-hour notice. read more
