CARNE ASADA

We came on a Thursday and were able to be seated right away. It was a nice atmosphere and we had enough space for our stroller. The food was very yum- I got carne asada and my husband got the crunch wrap. It was a good size portion and very fresh!

We've been eyeing this place for about a week and I'm happy that we decided to visit tonight. The salsa was tasty with a heavy cilantro & onion taste. Tacos were seasoned well and chopped into sizable pieces. I'll definitely recommend this restaurant as service was quick as well. Great place to sit outside and people watch.

When you have a craving for tacos give this place a try. The service was friendly and attentive. A modern, clean restaurant. We were greeted with corn chips and mild salsa. Out food was nicely plated.

Came here with my family on a Saturday for dinner and we were very pleased with our meal! Que Chula is a newer Mexican Restaurant located in downtown Chapel Hill. There is a parking garage near by as well, which is very convenient. The vibes are super vibrant and fun, which definitely add to the experience. I really appreciated the interior and all the decor throughout the restaurant. They do offer indoor and outdoor seating, as well as bar seats. I thought the service was pretty good too. Our server noticed the sun was blaring through the window and offered to fix the blinds without use even saying anything, very attentive! They gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and were able to answer questions we had regarding the menu. The compliantly chips and salsa are perfect. As the salsa is really fresh tasting and the chips were warm and freshly prepared. I also appreciate that they gave us each our own salsa ramekin. They also did a great job filling waters and restocking chips. To start, we decided on the nachos, which were AMAZING. They consisted of a nice layer of freshly prepared tortilla chips, topped with copious amounts of picadillo ground beef (or shredded chicken), queso dip, sour cream, black charro beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and queso fresco cheese. These were so good and there was a nice balance of each element in the dish. The chips didn't get too soggy and the meat was super flavorful. A perfect dish to share, would definitely recommend this as a starter for the table! For our entrees, my mom and I decided on the Platoon Relleno. This dish included a whole sweet plantain topped with skirt steak, oaxaca cheese, garden chimichurri, mixed fajita veggies, rice, and black charro beans. Wow! This was dish was full of so much flavor and was like nothing I'd had before. The plantain was sweet and paired perfectly with the tender steak topped with the savory chimichurri. The rice was also full of flavor and the beans were great too. The melty cheese atop the plantain was the perfect addition. The portion of steak was large and the dish was very filling, with just the right portions of each element. Overall, a very tasty, unique dish that impressed both my mom and I. Seriously could rave about it all day, I would highly recommend this! My dad was really hungry and ended up ordering the crunch wrap, which was huge! The crunch wrap was a 12" tortilla filled with grilled steak (or chicken), lettuce, chipotle aioli, pico de gallo, and melty queso cheese. This dish was huge! The toasted cheese on the outside was perfection and the amount of filling was nice as well. My dad really enjoyed this and noted on how "authentic" it tasted. He also really, really liked the steak, noting on how tender and flavorful it was. To end the meal, we tried their coconut flan. I have never had flan before and was really excited to try this. We all were also impressed with flan. It was really yummy with a nice, light constancy. And I cannot go without mentioning the drinks. My mom and I indulged in the skinny margarita, while my dad ordered a Mexican beer. The margaritas were so fresh and very strong. My mom and I agreed that they were some of the best we've had. My dad also really liked his beer and the way it was served. Overall, our meal at Que Chula left us very full and satisfied. We were still raving about our meals the following day! You can tell they use higher quality ingredient that are fresh, it is evident in the taste of their food. Everything we ordered hit the spot. The chips and salsa to start were great, our entrees were boasting of great flavor, and the flan was the perfect was to end the meal. The drinks are strong and super fresh, a meal wouldn't be complete without one! The service is great, very attentive, and helpful. They did a wonderful job filling water, refilling our chip basket, and checking in on us. I absolutely loved the interior and thought it was really vibrant, creating a fun vibe. I would really recommend checking out this place if you are in the area looking for some tasty, authentic, high quality Mexican food. Que Chula will surely not disappoint you and you won't regret your decision to dine here!

Love the colorful open space decor, truly feel and look Mexican. The margaritas were oh so delicious and food was great. I truly enjoyed the fish ceviche, the portion size was great. The chips and salas were very tasty. The tacos were warm and delicious plus it came with more sides, very large portions, reasonably priced. Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable pointed us in the right direction for drinks and food selections. Cheers.

Came here on a quiet weekend at around noon - it wasn't super busy so we got seated right away and the waiter regularly checked up on us and refilled our chips and water. We also got our order pretty quickly. The michelada was excellent - it came in a large stein that lasted me through the entire meal. It had just the right mix of tangy lime, spicy chili, and a subtle, savory saltiness that made it incredibly refreshing. The addition of the tamarind was also a fun surprise. The drink itself was definitely worth it - 5/5 and I'd highly recommend. I got the pork belly que chula tacos. The pork belly was excellent but I thought the glaze was a bit too sweet and didn't mix super well with the guac - too much of a sweet savory contrast for me. The portion size was very generous - I was very full by the end of the meal. I'd be happy to come here again and try something else. The menu itself is huge so you'll be bound to find something that you like on it.

Great decor!

Stopped for a quick bite and a margarita before a UNC game. Sat at the bar and the service was great. Immediately served warm chips and fresh salsa. We both ordered a skinny margarita - was very good, but not freshly squeezed juice. Husband ordered the wet burrito and it was delicious! Huge portion and so good. I wasn't super hungry, so ordered the jalapeno poppers as an app/dinner. I can handle spicy, but these were by far the hottest jalapeños I've ever eaten. I could barely finish one before my eyes were in tears :) However, the bartender was very aware and offered to take them back and replace it with something else which was great customer service. I just wasn't hungry enough to swap them out, so my husband ate two and then drank alot of water Just beware if you're not into hot ! We'd come back - very authentic and great service.

This is one of the best taco spots I've ever been to. Food came out fast and everything was delicious. I did not have drinks. Service was friendly and chips and salsa were free and chips were warm. The interior is also so cute and picture worthy. Very cute walls. Colorful and lively.

CARNITAS

Wow. What a great spot right in the heart of Chapel Hill. Chips and salsa was wonderful and the service attentive. The star of my day was the tortilla soup and carnitas platter. You could taste the "grill" on the chicken in the soup and the broth was equally lip smacking. The fall apart carnitas was delicious in the warm tortillas served with it. I recommend this place without hesitation.

This place is my new favorite place Chapel Hill! The decor is fun, the margarita towers are a plenty, and they have taco platters.... Yes, platters! The staff is beyond friendly! The bartender doted on us the entire time! She makes a wicked mojito!

Celebrating a 21 year old. 1 pm on a blazing hot Saturday. Found free parking in garage off Rosemary. Superior experience. Servers kept our party of nine happy. Great variety. Guac and that boat of queso great companions for beer. Food is excellent with generous portions. Nice attention for our birthday boy.

I recently brought my kids on a whim (we had wanted to try the bunch cafe next door but decided not to wait), and I was pleasantly surprised to learn how extraordinarily kid-friendly they are. There's a kids menu (mostly quesadilla and tacos, with corn on the cob and fruit for sides), high chairs, plastic lidded cups with straws, changing table in at least the ladies' room (I did not check the men's), and, most importantly, they hand out full coloring books for entertainment on arrival.

Honestly, I've been here enough times now where I can give it a solid three stars. People always…read morewant to come here, and it continues to be mediocre and overhyped. Basically, the drinks are decent (once you get them- besides the one time I got a margarita with no ice that was the size of a shot), and they have a patio. The service is comprised of students, who are poorly trained, and ordering is inconsistent. Apparently now, even if you use the QR code, it isn't split until the end, and usually you still have to flag down a server. Overall, small portions, overpriced and usually crowded. Fine if you want a drink before or after a movie, or to meet folks for happy hour, but you could definitely get more for your buck elsewhere.
