When we walked in, the place was quite busy with diners with most looking like they were enjoying their Cuban breakfast sandwich. My wife and I opted to order the Breakfast Combo #1, which came with eggs, choice of protein, hash browns, Cuban toast and a small cafe con leche. My wife went with sausage and I opted for bacon...this was after the lady behind the counter dissuaded me from ordering combo #2 (guess she's not a fan of the tomato sauce). We also ordered a couple of guava and cheese turnovers for a snack later. Breakfast was OK. Wished the eggs were fluffier but they were fine. The buttery Cuban toast was good and so were the cafe con leche...wished the coffee size was bigger. The biggest disappointment was the bacon, if you can call it that. When I first saw the bacon, I thought it looked odd...and my suspicions were confirmed when I bit into and tasted it. The texture was off and it had no flavor. Perhaps it was turkey bacon or vegetarian bacon, either way I wasn't informed that the bacon would be some weird facsimile of bacon. Surprised the lady behind the counter didn't try to convince me to change my choice of meat. We'll probably go back for breakfast but will definitely avoid ordering that strange bacon. Breakfast for 2 with the turnovers and tip cost just under $30.

Service was what I expected from a small family owned Cuban joint. The food is nice. I ordered the Tripleta, which is a Cuban with Cuban Steak added (in addition to the pork and ham). Nicely pressed, great flavor. I also had to get a small mofongo. If you have not had it before, Mofongo is plantains with onions and spices, rolled up into a ball and cooked. It is served with chicken broth, which you will definitely understand should you decide to eat mofongo without it (plantains, unlike bananas, will dry you out). As for the million dollar question? Yes, I will go back some time.

Cuban Pizza Victory in Ocala - Mission (Mostly) Accomplished…read more Wifey rolled in after work, waved the white flag on cooking, and mentioned a food truck she spotted on her way home. Naturally, the squad mobilized. We've been on a low-key quest for legit Cuban pizza in Ocala, and folks... this place delivered--literally and figuratively. It's a family-run operation, which we love. The chef had his sons on deck, working the line like seasoned pros. I ordered the pepperoni pizza, the kids stuck to cheese (classic), and the wife veered off the pizza path with their spaghetti and queso crema (cheese soup). The pizzas? Fire. Crispy, flavorful, and made fresh to order--exactly what you want out of a food truck find. The spaghetti? Solid. The queso crema? A bit of a curveball. Flavor didn't quite land, but hey--one minor glitch in an otherwise tasty mission. Pro tip: Call ahead. Everything's made fresh, so a little planning = a much smoother landing. Giving this one a strong 4 stars. Will I be back? Absolutely. Pizza recon continue. I wish the best and much success for this family operation. TTFN
