Start with the mussels, steaming, garlicky, and swimming in a broth you'll want to drink. Tip the bowl and go for it. Or, ask for bread for the famous soak. Then comes the Cacio e Pepe. A Roman classic. So peppery and creamy. This is the best Cacio e Pepe I've ever had.

We explored the area more and found the highest rated restaurant in that area with 80k reviews! I bothered a couple eating there and they were not impressed with their dinner also. Then where do we get good authentic Italian food?? In our frustration I started asking any locals I can find. This young lady spoke enough English to let us know. She even had to call her friend for the location and name. It was not busy. The staff is older and looks like part of the good fellas cast. The decor looks like it too. Haha what an adventure. We were full from previous meal so only order two dish. Rigatoni democratic and seafood risotto . Omg this is it!! So delicious and tastes authentic . We took a picture with the owner I think and I told him he must be famoso! There were pics on the walls.

We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to tip a few euros because we enjoyed ourselves so much, but decided not to because of the way it was presented to the party before us.

We had a calzone and traditional spaghetti and both were delicious. I don't even know how to describe the calzone. It was unlike anything I've had before but SO good. I literally cleaned my plate with the last of the breading from it. The owner/chef was Luca. He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. To be honest, he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but his food was freaking delicious.

For antipasti, we had mussels sautéed with garlic in white wine, marinated anchovies, sautéed clams, baby octopus in tomato sauce, and a mixed salad of chilled squid, octopus and crabmeat.  We then shared an order of pasta with shrimp, mussels and clams ... fantastic!  A very nice white wine accompanied the meal, a 2015 Capichera.  We somehow found room for dessert--a delightful traditional Sardinian rigotta "pie" with an orange sauce--and finished with limoncello, liquore di mirto (traditional blueberry liqueur from Sardinia), and espresso.   If you are looking for a great seafood meal (pranzo o cena) in Rome, then Albaruya is the place and well worth taking a train or #8 tram to Roma Trastevere stazione. Casual environment with friendly staff.

These meatballs were delicious! The only thing is that the meatballs are not served with pasta, only a side of bread. Regardless of that, they were so delicious that I wish I could have gone back again. The restaurant is in the charming Trastevere district, and we really enjoyed our outdoor seating. The only downside was the wall right across the restaurant that had been badly tagged. It wasn't the restaurant's fault, but it was an eyesore. On the bright side, the restaurant itself was beautiful. The service was excellent. Our food arrived promptly, and our server was attentive and helpful. He even recommended an organic soft drink for my children called Gassosa. Overall, we had a fantastic experience.
