Today I received a bill from Health 1st that was three years old, I immediately contacted their…read moreoffice and was told that the bill had been generated from an audit covering the past four years. I explained that I never received any treatments that I had not immediately paid for. The gentleman seemed to ignore me in my stating that and only admitted to a typo in one of the charges, reducing the total bill by $28. I contacted a friend who is an accountant, he suggested getting bank statements covering the period of the treatments. I had to ask a favor of a friend who worked at that bank to retrieve three year old bank statements, because I no longer bank there, and it is not the bank's normal policy. After obtaining the statements, I was able to locate where I made the payments. I went into Health 1st and showed the doctor that I am correct in having a zero balance. He did apologize and explained there were clerical errors made. I was able to get a signature clearing me any debt. I'm disappointed in the threatening tone that the letter had, stating the debt needed settled within fifteen days before they would send it to collections. Attached was an old photocopy standard agreement between the office and I stating I would be financial responsible if there were any outstanding debts with my signature at the bottom, normal. But every part of the letter that spelled financial doom and gloom was highlighted. No courtesy call, no explanation, no mention of possible clerical errors until after the fact. I had to ask favors and jump through hoops to clear this up. My review is on the process the office staff took in addressing this issue. It could've been resolved without any threatening letters and demands of payment, (which I had paid) It's not normal for people to hold onto four years of bank statements, nor is it any banks policy to have them readily available in this sort of instance. Their actions could've easily resulted in damaging my credit if I had paid in cash and no longer had the receipts. A simple letter stating an audit had been conducted and there was no proof of payment recorded. Asking if I could and would be willing to assist in clearing up the matter would have been sufficient and satisfactory in getting the same outcome. This review does not cover my treatment provided by the doctor, in which I am satisfied.

Yet they only have record of two payments. I am appalled, disgusted and disappointed in this dr. They also claim their records of payments do not go back that far so they're unable to see what other payments I made. What kind of company is this??? They stated they would be sending me to collections next along with everyone else who they are trying to scam. I look forward to filing a police report against this company for fraud, which is what I'll be doing next. In response to Dr Booth - You need to speak to your bookkeeper because she did not say that. She said I have a balance and that if I cant show proof that I paid or pay then I will be sent to collections. Not once did she say it may be an error on your offices part. So now I have to take time out of my day to dig up old receipts and statements because your office doesn't keep track of payments they received?

My mother has been living with chronic neck pain, including severe muscle spasms. Recently, her…read morepain has gotten EXTREMELY worse because of a series of visits to DIFFERENT physical therapists and chiropractors. To be clear, her pain has gotten so bad that she is bed-ridden and can't even pick up her 9-month old child anymore. She can't even walk around a store for more than ten minutes. So, my mother decided to go see this man, and basically they agreed upon a SIMPLE CONSULTATION. He said that he would review her MRIs and x-rays to see IF HE COULD EVEN HELP HER. With that being said, my mother is VERY cautious about who touches her because every time she see's a chiropractor or a physical therapist, all they do is make her EXTREMELY WORSE. She explained this to Dr. Clerico. He said he would see her in a week. Meanwhile, she was still experiencing SEVERE pain, so she went back to her primary care doctor, who RECOMMENDED her to go to more physical therapy. She did this, and of course, it made her worse. (WHEN I SAY WORSE, TRUST ME, I WITNESS THIS, MY MOTHER WOULD RATHER NOT BE ALIVE THAN TO DEAL WITH THIS EXCRUCIATING PAIN DAY IN AND DAY OUT, IT IS EXTREMELY SAD.) So, at this point, she did not want anyone to touch her anymore, she was scared, and that's why. She decided she would just go back to see Dr. Clerico and explain this incident to him and politely ask him to bill her insurance for his consultation and the time he spend evaluating her medical documents. NOW THIS IS THE HORRIBLE PART. I go back in with my mother to see Dr. Clerico, and the minute we walked in my mother was VERY NERVOUS, because she has had nothing but bad experiences with almost every medical professional she has seen. She was polite about everything, and when she wasn't even done speaking, he opens his mouth and says "Well let me tell you something". FIRST OF ALL, you don't speak to someone like that. He basically told her it was an INSULT to him that she told him she didn't want to be touched because she WAS SCARED. He said that he didn't have any faith in the chiropractic industry, even though she TOLD HIM SHE HAS SEEN THREE CHIROPRACTORS before. He said that no one would ever be able to help her because all she did was COMPLAIN (LIKE SHE'S SITTING HERE WANTING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING IN PAIN 24/7, WHEN ALL SHE WANTS IS HELP TO GET BETTER). He also made it seem like she was wrong for seeking the help of other medical professionals in different industries, such as physical therapy and her own medical doctor. It seemed as if all this man cared about was competition with WHO? I have no idea. & money. He also said that he couldn't bill her insurance because it would be IILEGAL, & now "HE'S NOT GETTING PAID AND HE DOESN'T WORK FOR FREE"---HIS EXACT WORDS AFTER SHE OFFERED TO PAY HIM. This man is a QUACK and an ABUSIVE, DISRESPECTFUL, and most of all UNPROFESSIONAL medical person I have EVER COME ACROSS IN MY LIFE. My mother is already stressed out and she walked out of his office CRYING, which in turn made her stressed out, which in turn made her neck flare up. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND if you are looking for a chiropractor, DO NOT GO TO HIM. AVOID HIM if anything, and PLEASE find someone else!! SHAME ON YOU DR. CLERICO!!!!! (PERSONALLY, I WANTED TO PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! :-O)

I originally brought my 10 month old in with a particular issue she was having that i couldn't figure out, her pediatrician wasn't much help so someone suggested a chiropractor. Upon the first visit one of the owners, Stephanie, adjusted her and took a look at her and later requested i return the next day to "go over results" looking back i realize that returning the next day for results when all she did was look at her was probably a huge red flag (not actually doing anything) and just wanted to make herself look like she was. Once i went back, Stephanie stated there were several things wrong with my 10 month old that she'd like to work on, which baffled me because my little one did not appear to need help in any of the areas she recommended, but nonetheless i thought "well she knows more than i so maybe i'll trust her?" BUT the thing that reeled me in was that she stated they can fix the issues i was concerned about, so ultimately we set up a payment plan. This is where i started questioning things and realized this place was a scam. After almost 2 months of bringing my baby in for adjustments 2-3 days a week, i saw no improvement at all. I began to ask more questions to the other owner as well (stephanie's husband) and he also stated that they will fix the issue and it takes time. I even showed pictures of what she does and their answer was always the same "it takes time but it will work". My mommy instincts kicked in at this point and i just knew they were not actually helping. My husband and i ended up calling a family friend who was a baby physical therapist. Long story short we met with her and she physically showed us what the issue was, which was something that Bakersfield Family Chiropractic was NEVER going to be able to resolve or help with and i believe they knew that and still took advantage of me being a young and desperate mom who just wanted to help my baby. I reached out to Bakersfield family chiropractic 1 week later and let them know that the issue i was concerned about was nothing they could of helped with and i'd like to discontinue treatment. Their response? No apology for taking $1,600 from me and a lot of time, for nothing, They just wanted their last payment.... I requested to talk to the owners, wanting to come to some outcome that would help me feel less cheated and maybe feel like they're not as bad as i believed, but their answers were always the same "we did services so you need to pay all of it". Never any explanation for their lack of effort and information, never an apology from the owners or taking accountability for never actually wanting to help my baby. It was purely just "money money money". I'm writing this review because if you're a mother, please don't bring your baby's here... the dishonesty and lack of care towards my little one breaks my heart and i wish i never took her here. After just a week of doing what the physical therapist suggested we saw improvements instantly AND she mentioned that the issues that stephanie and her husband stated my little one had were not possible and that Bakersfield family chiropractic just wanted my money and they definitely took it. Mommy's please trust your instincts, and if you're an adult coming here, please just be cautious and look past their "politeness" and "niceness" and look for actual results... or you might end up in the same position my family was.
