Shout out to the team from Hukill's plumbing - Jordan and Joseph who came to help with some…read moreplumbing needs. What initially created the need for the call was a gas fireplace that would not ignite I had previously tried ChatGPT, called a chimney sweep company, and even called the previous owner of my house, all to no avail. Within a few minutes of of arriving, Jordan was able to locate the hidden shut off for the gas fireplace and get it working pretty promptly. While here, he was able to notice a couple of other things that needed attention. My tankless water heater had been installed incorrectly by the previous plumber, and the technicians from Hukill's were able to manage that. And also, when it came to a clogged sink in our master bathroom, they were able to address that as well. By the end of our time together I had heard some good stories from Jordan, I was able to practice my French with Joseph and most importantly had a lot of small annoyances cleared up (literally) leaving my home in better functioning order than when they arrived. But what we love about HDP is they stand behind their work and they are as honest and trustworthy as you get. Just incredible people. It is 2025 and we again have a few projects we want to do and some things we want updated. Ray was able to reach out to the subcontractor who worked with us during our 2016 remodel to make changes to our home security system and cameras. Seriously, almost 10 years later. We had a custom built steel gate installed in 2016. Ray still knew who built it and knew what would be involved at adding a new coat of paint. Ray also helped with moving us over to one system like Ring, Nest,or Wyze. Instead of a hodge podge of various products. This has been huge. During that process he reminded us that the new code requires 3 smoke/fire/carbon detectors. We have referred several friends to HDP and allowed individuals to tour our home and inspect his work. Because we continue to be that impressed. Last week we again gave him a long list of normal wear and tear items to more extensive projects and he submitted his review timely and accurately along with a couple suggestions. I just got a letter in the mail with the owners signature (Clyde Reed Jr. (817) 880-4085) saying they are attempting to put a lien on my home. OK that took another couple weeks to get and here I am over four months away from my house and trusting in JDR to complete the job my mistake my big a shame you have to go to get everything done and I'm showing them for damages which they cost me myself and two in four different places because I can't get back to my house. I worked with Jesse and his team to finish a commercial remodeling project that another contractor…read morehad done a good job on, but abandoned the project at about 95% done. I paid Jesse $15k to finish this job, and he was aware of each element of the project including trim work, painting, and fixing the floors that were not glued down properly. We started the project well, and the work done on the crown molding looked good. They touched up some drywall texture and it looked really rough in certain areas, and was much heavier than the existing texture. It seemed the guys didn't really know what they were doing with texture. He did fix it somewhat, although there are still areas where you can visibly see it does not match. Also some of the doors/trim that were painted were done quickly with a very heavy textured brush, and should have been done with a light roller to match the others. But for the most part they fixed things we pointed out and they looked better by the end. Where the issues really came in was at the end. Jesse told us to blue tape everything that needed to be redone and we did. They then came and "fixed" it and removed the tape, however we noticed many of the things we taped looked the same and the tape had just been removed. We did that three or four times and there was still things that they were just removing tape on. I then walked it with him and he said he was going to fix the things I pointed out, including flooring that still needed to be glued back down. He then sent guys over and they didn't do any of the things we discussed. He told me to blue tape it AGAIN, and I said no that they are just removing the tape and not doing the work, but if he sends guys we will show them what to fix. Fast forward a few months, and the last few things we had taped were never fixed, floor tiles are still bubbling up that he was supposed to fix, and he says because he did "extra work" that he is no longer responsible to finish the actual job he contractually agreed to. (The "extra work" he referred to was putting in drywall ceiling instead of drop ceiling in a room addition. We had never discussed or agreed to a drop ceiling so I was going to cancel the job, but he agreed to switch it to keep the job.) I tried to come to an agreement with him and potentially give him more work if he finished the previous job. However he didn't even show up when he said he would to quote me on it, so at this point I'm just going to find a new contractor. I'm disappointed but I only want to work with people who keep their word and honor their contracts. Attached part of contract and screenshots of texts.
