This Best Western on the surface looks like most other Best Western Hotels but it has some quirks…read more In fact, I think whoever designed the rooms or approved the design is a kindred spirit with my dad. Everything was functional and "it worked" but things were a little bit strange. So at first we could not find the fridge. The most logical place for the fridge would be under the microwave, in the space under the counter that looks like it would accommodate a fridge. Since the coffee maker was next to the microwave, it just made sense that all food related equipment would be in this nook, right? Well, we finally found the fridge, it was in the closet!!! And the light switch to the light right at the entrance, where do you think that was? Also in the closet! You had to open the closet to find the light switch! Perfectly logical, right? Lol. And the little extra security latch thing, you had to slide open the closet door and keep it open to swing the security latch all the way open, otherwise it hits the closet door. And the light switch for the main part of the room is all the way at the back of the room. So if you didn't know to look in the closet to find the light switch at the entrance, you had to fumble your way in the dark to the back of the room to turn on the lights! We were in 105. Maybe it's just this room that's weird (?!?). However, I should note that when we were checking out, the front desk staff noticed the room we were staying in and she said it's her favourite room in the hotel. Not sure if she says that to everyone, or if the other rooms are even stranger, haha. Anyway, my dad would have been like, everything works, what's the problem? Lol. I am more forgiving of such strangeness, given my upbringing, but my husband thought it was pretty ghetto, haha. Breakfast was also funny. So we were traveling during the time of Covid (not our preferred time to travel, but we were coming home from an interment and wanted to break up our drive), so I was happy that everything was pre-packaged and to-go, but we stayed at another Best Western during our trip and they had hot wrapped breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg and cheese in an English muffin), and other pre-packaged food. This place had vegetarian omelets that were cold (and although they did not appear frozen, they were rock hard, lol). They were put in individual Ziploc-type bags. We had to heat them up in the microwave in our room. I got a "danish" which was in the same type of bag, but not a single serving, it looked like it was a huge loaf that was manually cut into pieces. And it was more like a coffee cake than a danish. I did get an individually packaged (by the manufacturer) yogurt and apple sauce, and also a juice box. They had bread and bagels, which I passed on, also cottage cheese and whole fresh fruit. Breakfast was not as bad as at the Microtel that I stayed at once in Texas (that place takes the cake for the absolute worst breakfast - think stale pastries and expired juice - and it was over a decade ago, so during normal times, and the fact that I still remember it, says a lot), so I guess I shouldn't complain? Lolz. The hotel is also right by Highway 401. It's functional and serves its purpose as a place to stay. It's not glamourous nor cool. There's free parking. We paid around $130 a night. My husband was not impressed with this place. I thought it was satisfactory ;)

I strongly urge anyone considering this hotel to look elsewhere. My experience at Homewood Suites…read moreby Hilton Ajax was not only disappointing but also deeply unprofessional. After checking out, I was falsely accused of damaging a mirror in the room and charged $200 without any written/photo evidence, or opportunity to dispute the claim. There was no room inspection at check-in or checkout, and no proof was provided to show when or how the damage supposedly occurred other than the housekeeping crews word that they had checked the rooms prior to our arrival. When I reached out for answers, the front desk manager, Ally, was evasive and unable to provide any documentation or a clear explanation for the charge. Ally admitted that they have no written policy regarding incidentals or damage charges despite being part of the Hilton franchise. There is no transparency, no standard process, and no accountability. Since this location does not provide you any written documentation for signature upon arrival, once you press the green button on the keypad, you're at the whim of the management of this location. That said, the rest of the staff of the hotel was accommodating and respectful.

Check in was easy and smooth. Rooms were clean and pretty spacious. We got the king studio, which has a kitchenette, sofa bed and dining table. The bed was decently comfortable. A big thing for us was that it wasn't noisy at night with people outside or neighbouring rooms, so we were able to get a good night's sleep. It's also right by the highway and has lots of parking. It's a kind of secluded area so it felt safe as well. There aren't too many options for places to stay in the area. We chose this one because it seemed to be the best overall with the reviews and price. Recommend if you're in the area and need somewhere to stay!

If I could give less than one star I would. Everything was absolutely horrendous. The person at the…read morereservations desk was so rude and dismissive. The wheelchair access button wasn't working and I asked what would happen if someone in a wheelchair needed to get it and she commented "well, they would have to figure it out". After a rickety ride to the second floor on the elevator. We arrived to a room that was BOILING HOT. The room's temperature was set to a number higher than the temperature outside. After we sanitized the space we realized that : - there were used washrags thrown over the top of the shower - the garbage bin was full - the refrigerator was filthy (absolutely thick with dirt and build up) - the bathtub was stained We wheeled our suitcases right back out. Absolutely revolting. Do not waste your time with this place.

I told her. No! That is between you & Expedia! Besides that shit show 1- smelled like smoke 2- can not control the temperature 3- the TV was all static!!! No HD channels 4- cigarette stains all over the bathroom It was the most smelly & disgusting hotel stay ever BTW. I did not stay there (which I paid) the 2nd night!!!!

I was promptly greeted by a friendly woman at the desk. She advised that I was upgraded to a suite. Nice! I was up on the top floor. The suite was nice. There were two bedrooms with two washrooms, a huge living room area, and a decent kitchen area. The place had three TVs. I was so comfortable. The highlight of my suite? A fireplace! Holy moly! I have never experienced one in a hotel room in my life. It worked on a timer. It was wonderful. The downside is that this hotel is an older one. The walls were thin. I could hear the neighbours talking next door. Thankfully, I bring earplugs when I travel. My other beef has nothing to do with the hotel There were kids running up and down the hallway. Ugh! I also don't get why folks like to talk in the hallway. You have a room. Pile in there, or go downstairs and chat. I was getting something from my car at 22:40. I passed by six people standing in the hallway, talking to one another. Ridiculous! Your conversation is boring. The entire floor may not want to hear it. I would expect that it would be quieter staying on a weeknight or Sunday. I would give this place another try just to enjoy the fireplace when it's winter. My hotel suite could have easily been $200 a night, so it's not the cheapest place to stay. I'd recommend using your Marriott rewards instead, which I will do again. As far as location goes, it's close to the movie theatre and a number of eateries. (257)

The guard passed by the window 5 times in approximately a half hour span repeating this process. I approached a member of the staff to complain, and asked if this was standard procedure for him to be taking pictures, to which he replied "not at all, phones are not to be used by staff". I asked to speak to the manager, who was off on a break for more than an hour. When the manager did return, he took the side of the guard saying that he had nothing on his phone, which, when he showed me the phone ( not a flip phone) , had multiple pictures of room numbers on it. I asked the manager two things then 1) why would multiple parents from 2 different teams from different parts of the province be saying the same thing?, and 2) check their surveillance footage to see what he was doing, to which the manager refused. I proceeded to call Hilton corporate, who immediately escalated the call, but then had the same manager call me with the same story, and had not looked at the cameras. It is pretty sad when the security guards that they have hired are the ones that the guests will need protection from, and the Hilton employees are complicit in covering for people like this.

You cannot control the temperature in the rooms, and their morning breakfast is actually scary. The only reason I stayed here, I was in a car collision, and the current insurance is too cheap, to pay for better accommodations. I was exhausted and not up for just speaking with anyone, I just didn't care to be lied to right to my face. Every time I go there, I feel like I'm such a burden to their ass.
