When I was considering affordable Mount Vernon for purchasing my home, one of the things in the "plus" column was the fact there's a Quality Sewing in town! I've been a longtime customer and fan, and have bought several machines through them (usually at their Bellingham store). And they're always my very first stop at the annual Sew Expo, where they offer great Expo-only deals on everything from top-of-the line sewing machines to the tiniest notions and supplies. What really sets Quality apart, though, is their knowledge and service. It's rare these days to walk into a business and have the salespeople be able to answer your question about every single thing in the store. Looking for a serger? They know how to operate every one on the floor. Need to upgrade your sewing machine? They'll help you there, too. Looking to purchase a Brother Scan 'n Cut to add to your crafting arsenal? They'll walk you through that as well! Oh, and they sell both new and used equipment, and will take your machine in on trade-in for an even more remarkable discount. With every machine purchased, they offer unlimited classes to learn the machine. Confession: I need to take them up on this with my Juki serger, which I purchased several years ago and barely use because I need to learn it better. They also offer paid classes in topics like embroidery, as well as day-long or multi-day classes in some cases. Their classes can be a bit pricey, but they sure do sound like fun! I have been going to Quality Sewing & Vacuum for a few years now. My vacuum cleaners get a workout due to my 4 cats and a long haired dog. So when my vacuum cleaners break down I always bring them in to have them serviced. The staff here are all very knowledgeable, helpful, and often they will replace by belts right on the spot, and show me how to do it. They also carry all the bags for my vacuums, and have a nice selection of new vacuums as well. I hope this shop can stay right where they are at, I find them to be a valuable asset to Mount Vernon. read more

They are the only shop that I know of that offers classes in operating a sewing machine, no matter if you bought it there or not. Of course this builds customer satisfaction and now I wouldn't shop anywhere else. I've gotten about 6 sewing machines from them and never had an experience that wasn't pleasant and made me feel like I "got a deal". They are definitely engaged in selling, but I've never felt pressured or pushed into buying anything. They just know their products and what customers want. Great selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff (knowledgeable as far as we could determine). However, seriously understaffed (2 "wait staff" in the store), particularly since I was there on a sale weekend (Sunday afternoon). I had previously put a deposit and hold on their best Bernina machine and a gorgeous Koala cabinet. However, the salesperson had to stop every one to two minutes to wait on others. As a result, we explained why we were leaving (understaffing), got our deposit back, and left after 1/2 an hour of ... well, waiting to accomplish something. Darn it! read more

They talked about the kids I had with me under their breaths as I waited to pick someone up who was taking the class there. This review might not mean much but I just thought it was rude especially after one of the employees was very nice and let the kids I had have some cheese and crackers. And than to hear two employees talking and said things like "I would smack them if they weren't mine" something along those terms. I just feel that most of the employees not associated with teaching class are rude. I keep getting dirty looks from the employees working at office or walking around helping customers. I bet the class they have is wonderful. read more

Walked in today to purchase a vacuum. The two ladies were both busy helping other people. One that finished first, helped a lady that walked in five minutes after I did. The other woman got off the phone, and two ladies came out from the back and started asking her about classes, and information regarding when they were and such. Neither of the two ladies ever said hello or smiled in my direction. After being ignored for 10 minutes I left. Terrible customer service, and wouldn't waste my money their on a vacuum or sewing machine. read more

I purchased my machine in Everett but took classes on how to use my machine in Mount Vernon as closer to home. I took a morning and an afternoon class. Both teachers were superb! With 8 students and each one having a different machine I wasn't sure how they could manage but they did it with ease! I had all my questions answered. I was having problems with the bobbin knotting up and jamming my sewing machine. From the minute I walked in the door at Quality Sewing, I felt like I was blown off. They were not able to un-jam the machine, and suggested repair and service maintenance. Two weeks, and two hundred dollars later, I picked up my machine. I was the first and only customer in the door when the store opened. The only clerk in the store brought my "repaired" machine out from the back, and despite asking for help, she walked off and left me to help another customer that had just come in. After a few minutes, I went to the front of the store to again let her know that I needed help, and after waiting fifteen minutes, I got up and left. I never once got the feeling that there was any interest in helping me - the clerk suggested that I take one of their classes, which I already have. Sometimes you just have problems, and need a little insight from a more experienced person to get back on track. Unfortunately, insight, and helping folks who walk in the door with a problem, does not seem to be high on their list. read more

I live in Marysville but work in Mount Vernon. I took my Brother sewing machine in to the local Marysville store because the needle arm kept falling off. They only offered to send it out for repair, $75 + (!). Went to Quality Sewing and they were able to show me how to re-attach the needle arm and did the re-assemble for me. They would not accept any payment, only that I please see them again when I was ready to have my machine cleaned or serviced. Great Customer Service! read more

I was extremely disappointed in the service. We ordered a part from this store, pre-paid, and were told to expect it soon. Over TWO MONTHS later, after calling multiple times and being told that the part still wasn't in, I was told that they had MANY of the parts in-stock, yet had failed to call us to let us know. When I called to discover this, they were also unable to even locate my order at first (not surprising, since it was months ago), and when they did, they brought me the wrong order twice before finding mine. I was incredulous about the entire process, but particularly in regards to them not calling after receiving shipment of the part we had ordered and already paid for. I have had my serger in for repairs twice in the last six months. The second time I came in they spent an hour trying to fix it for me and showing me tips and tricks before they agreed it needed to be sent to the service place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. read more
