I would probably say this place is more a 3.5, but the service was so kind I pushed it up to 4. Let's start with the good. The front desk area and breakfast area are clean and bright. The staff were really friendly and exceptional at making us feel welcome. Breakfast was also pretty decent with Sausage and egg croissants, egg and cheese burritos, waffles with some toppings, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, toast, muffins, juice. Honestly one of the better breakfasts I've had at this type of hotel. The rooms themselves were A-ok. They definitely could do with an update, paint on the walls cracking, musty smell, tub dripping. But they did also come with a coffee maker with coffee and tea, microwave, and fridge, which was convenient. The bed and pillows were also very comfy! They kindly gave us a room near the back of the hotel near the rear entrance, which was very convenient since we had a dog with us. Unfortunately the door did not have a pressure gauge and slammed any time someone went through the door. The first night was a little rough waking us up every time the door slammed. But the second night wasn't as bad. But I'll end on a good note, location was very convenient, lots of fast food options nearby if that's your thing. We chose it as it was dog-friendly and not too far from Starved Rock and the areas around it. Everything we needed to reach was within 10-20 minutes which was great! And again front desk staff and management was so great and friendly! read more

Usually I would have left a 5 ***** review on these Quality Inn's. Vonnie, The night desk manager was a delight. Helpful and professional. We pulled the Harley's with a trailer this trip and seen if you drive around there are rooms with back doors to capture decent parking and visibility of your rig and trailer. There is a great bar and burger joint right next door. Just literally a couple of steps across the parking lot. Cabin Fever Bar & Grill. a fun place to spend a few bucks and get a fill of food and brew. Cute girls too. wink. The issue was the coffee in the morning. WEAK WEAK WEAK. Horrible and the creamer. lumpy and sour. No one seemed to care. The morning breakfast spread has really went down hill with this chain, It used to rock. Had to walk over to McDonald's to get a good cup. read more

Just stayed here at this hotel for a few days. If your passing through Peru IL I'd find a better hotel for the price. This hotel charges anywhere from 99.00-119.00 a night and it is very dirty. Also they have no breakfast, they do have crappy coffee and a muffin in a sack. The mattress are so worn out. Woke up everyday with a terrible back ache. Then I moved done to the Holiday Inn. Better price and hot breakfast. Again just my 2 cents. Happy travels! read more

Needed a one night stay and this was the only place that had availability in the area. The desk clerk that checked us in was thorough & clear in giving information. The whole place including the rooms could use some updates but everything was clean & functional. One thing I didn't like about the room was the sink being separate from the toilet & tub, so inconvenient but otherwise the room was well equipped. Did hear some walking above us which is unusual in most hotels we've stayed. Unfortunately we missed breakfast which I was disappointed in. I love the waffles. I would have preffered a "prettier" place but all in all it served it's purpose with no complaints. read more

Clean and quiet room. Everything worked, including the lights, TV, bathroom facilities, and refrigerator. One minor problem, the phone message light kept blinking even though there was no message. The front desk person said it had been that way for a week without being fixed. That's strange - but no big deal. One would think that they could have a backup handset ready to swap with a bad one. Breakfast was OK - eggs were good, cooked just right, but I got there right when breakfast started. The biscuits were so hard that it was impossible to eat them! They truly were like hockey pucks. The underside lid of the trash can in the dining area was absolutely filthy, with caked-on food that had been there for many days, growing mold and stinking. It's like they NEVER bother to clean the underside of the flip lid. Front desk staff was pleasant, especially the woman on at night. The guy in the morning was obviously not particularly customer oriented, but that could be a cultural thing. read more

Talk about a rat hole hotel! Due to the poorly ventilated indoor pool the whole place smells like wet dog and is full of mold. It's dirty everywhere and is in a state of obvious disrepair. After one night my allergies are horrendous and my throat is very sore. The walls and floors are paper thin so the whole place is very noisy. The breakfast was a disgusting joke that looked like would result in food poisoning. Everything was dirty and had a run down look. Better than nothing and they do have free wifi so 2 stars for me. Edit on 7-9-15 The sore throats my wife and I woke up with turned into infections that required antibiotics. We were both sick for the next 2 weeks. Avoid this crap hole at all costs!! It took FOREVER to check in. There was nothing wrong with my booking, the guy at the desk just seemed to take forever. The room was okay. The bed was fantastic. Like clouds of happiness!!!! Nothing to write home about with the rest of the room though. Breakfast was ok. Your typical buffet style hotel breakfast. Nothing seemed very fresh though. Biscuits were kinda hard and couldn't be warmed (no microwave down there). When we were walking down to check out, the room maids asked if the room was empty. I know this is kinda common at hotels, but it's always bugged me. I feel like they are trying to kick me out. read more

My wife and I have stayed here a couple of times. Both times because Quality Inn allows dogs. But the place is also pretty clean, furnishings are fairly up-to-date and the price is good. Desk clerks have been helpful. It would be nice if the cable channels included EWTN, along with the Protestant programs on Sundays. My only knock (and we noticed this at the Carbondale Quality Inn) is a security issue - one of the back doors isn't consistently locked. read more

Rooms were super clean and they had a nice breakfast. Had premade omlets which is something I haven't seen before. They were good too. They also had a really nice selection of the usual Breakfast items including yogurt. People at the desk were really nice to deal with too. That alone made my stay! This is in walking distance to Cabin Fever Sports Bar. So if you are on a road trip...stop, stay and check out Cabin Fever. Had no problems with odors noted in a prior review. Maybe this was addressed with new carpet. read more

Everyone from the time I checked in was very nice ..And the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was hot and very good....I have no complaints I was here on business and I will make this my hotel to stay at when I am in town...I highly recommend this hotel to travelers. I'll start with the possible: Great comfortable clean bed! LG flat screen TV Mini fridge and micro Heated indoor pool Here comes the negative: The motel is run by indians. Which means nothing is going to be fresh or lots of or extra. Breakfast buffet has cereal, cold eggs in the fridge (they last longer) Old hard bagels and bread Waffles and oat meal, oranges, apples. The coffee was pretty good.. I am one of those who believes you either do it 100% or don't touch it at all.. Motel 8 across the street charges $50 without breakfast. Quality charges $84.99 ohhh I almost forgot... Online it says $74.99 but when we showed at the door they said prices went up...the lady was american so I didn't suspect anything however if the morning crew was behind the desk last night I would have been very skeptical. read more

Booked a room on Priceline and didn't know that the room was assigned on checkin and was assigned a smoking room. Stayed the night in the room and could not sleep because the smell was so strong. Left the hotel and was going to book another room in another hotel. When I came back to check out, Mona change my room to a non smoking room and it was much better. Thanks for the grace of making a bad situation better. read more

Have to say Robin was the sweetest abd kind clerk we've delt with. We were looking for a early check in cause we drive all night. She called as soon as the rooms were available. Building looked great as well as the lobby. Rooms were very clean. Complete with microwave and a refrigerator. The bathrooms were very clean as well. Plenty of clean towels and no problems with the TV. The price was very reasonable but we did get to use our military discount. When we come back through here again this will be the hotel we stopped at. McDonald's is right next door along with a bar and grill behind the hotel which is very nice and Walmart across the street. Again can't say enough about Robin thanks again. read more

I've stayed in a lot of hotels in my life and this one has to be the worst. Filthy, smelly and noisy are its good points. Besides finding spiders crawling around in the tub, the bed was infested with bed bugs. read more

I am giving this a 4 instead of a 5 because I did not have a chance to sample the breakfast. However, this hotel is very nice, the staff is friendly and understanding, and the location is great. The rooms are comfy...I love the soft pillows. The appliances may be a bit outdated, but they work just fine and the comfy bed makes up for that. I definitely recommend this hotel for a night's stay in Peru, IL! read more

I've been staying here for the last few months for my job. The rooms are ok. Nothing special but it's suits our needs just fine. Staff is friendly and takes care of our every need. I'd avoid the breakfast at all costs though. The biscuits are cold and stiff, the gravy is some of the worst I've ever tried. This was a very nice surprise because we had chosen one of the cheapest on the Price Line site. It is clean and the rooms were pleasant and indistinguishable from a more expensive selection. Pillow top bed was great and temperature was easily adjusted. The breakfast had waffles, biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. The usual cold selections were also available. My husband and I checked in here after a long day on the road. The beds were very comfortabe and provided a great nights sleep. The rooms were spacious and clean with refrigerator and microwave. Breakast in the morning had plenty of options and we opted for waffles, cereal, juice and yogurt. The orange juice --- MinuteMaid though made from concentrate was very good and not watered down like most in motel breakfasts. We would definately stay here again. read more

When I arrived at this hotel, I was told that they were completely booked and I had the last room (a smoking room, which I did not want). Regardless, beggars can't be choosers. When I got into the room not only did it absolutely reek of smoke (to the point where all of my clothing, even the items that were never removed from the suitcase, smelled of smoke when I got home less than 24 hours later), but it also had two large water stains and cracks on the ceiling that stretched from one wall to the other (peeling paint all along the way), one bedspread that had a large bleach stain on it and another bedspread that had a large hole burnt out of it. For the price I paid, I was shocked by these conditions. The pool was decent, which made staying out of the room as much as possible an option. read more

All surrounding hotels were booked for the weekend so we stayed here. The hotel is very small. Has a muggy smell as soon as u walk in. The Manager was not very nice, he seemed annoyed with people's requests. The hotel advertises a microwave n fridge in every room but my room only had a fridge. When I asked the Manager about the missing microwave he said, "there's a microwave in every room", & went back to fidgeting behind the front desk. As I reassured him that there wasn't a microwave in the room he just mentioned he would look into it an never did. The cleaning staff & morning desk people were much nicer than the night desk guy. They advertise free hot breakfast but its only served till 9:00am & not good at all. The OJ was watered down, cereal was stale & waffle maker took about 10-15 minutes to make 1 waffle. There's also an abandoned building in front of hotel. The rooms had dingy walls with water stains on the ceiling, pealing paint in the bathroom n the a/c unit was missing the top piece. Would not recommend this place & I would never stay here again. read more
