The missing shower shelf
Justin R.

I could best describe this hotel as somewhere extended family stays when parsing through the remains of a recently deceased relatives belongings. Is that specific? Yes. Do you know what I'm talking about? Probably. The rooms are archaic and poorly cared for. Take for example my shower: the soap shelf was just gone. I don't know where it went, I don't know if someone took it, I don't know if I missed the opt-in for a complete shower upon check in. I'm all shoulders.

Bedroom area

Room is excellent, booked through hotels dot com. Have one of the suites, very spacious and better prices than many of the standard rooms in the area. Very clean, courteous staff, quiet despite being next to outside door, ice machine & pool. Warm cookies on arrival, hot tea all day & 24 hour workout room/business center. Would stay again!

Complimentary breakfast, clean, close to all stores, and nice staff. Can't beat it. Top choice in the area.

Fist time staying at Fairfield Inn & Suite at Peru, IL. A…read morenice, medium size hotel. Very clean, a touch modern simplicity. All the personals ( from receptionist to head of maintenance guy, named John ) are very friendly, helpful and caring. They greet each one of the guests and asking if everything ok and anything that they can be assisting. Included full American breakfast. From scrambled egg, toast, bacons, sausage, milk, yogurt, make your own waffles..... It has a salt water indoor swimming pool. Small size with 4ft in depth and temp around 85 F. Great while outside is in the mid 40's. ( we are here in early Nov ). Definitely will stay in here again on the next business trip in this area. PS: On the negative side: It seems the wall or insulation is very thin. I can hear people walking in the hallway. I can hear other guess above me walking around the room. I can hear people closing their rooms door. Thank goodness those are about it. No noises coming from the the bathroom

Horrible place. Never stay at a one elevator Fairfield. While I always try to use stairs people…read morein my party didn't on top of that the elevator was super slow. Parking lot is hard to get out of because it dead ends and big semi rigs sometimes park in the lot. There was a good point the biscuits and gravy in the morning were filling and tasted good. But the room...we had the handicap suite. Don't take it because it's still a step over tub and then there's this big apparatus in the tub that takes up room. Not a walk in shower situation. The people that work there ok it's just my rooms cost $200 a night and I could have stayed with other family members for $150 in ogelsby. With all the problems. Not worth it. Oh and they charged my son's room $3.00 bucks for parking. He was in our car. I expect better outta Marriot. The whole building needs an upgrade. Also the maids make the beds weird so it's difficult to pull the covers over you when you lay down. I had to get out of bed and untuck them. Also a big comforter was shoved in the tiny closet. Tried to hang stuff and it was hard so I pulled the comforter out and it's just sitting in our room all night. Ugly.

The staff were really friendly and exceptional at making us feel welcome. Breakfast was also pretty decent with Sausage and egg croissants, egg and cheese burritos, waffles with some toppings, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, toast, muffins, juice. Honestly one of the better breakfasts I've had at this type of hotel. The rooms themselves were A-ok. They definitely could do with an update, paint on the walls cracking, musty smell, tub dripping. But they did also come with a coffee maker with coffee and tea, microwave, and fridge, which was convenient. The bed and pillows were also very comfy! They kindly gave us a room near the back of the hotel near the rear entrance, which was very convenient since we had a dog with us. Unfortunately the door did not have a pressure gauge and slammed any time someone went through the door. The first night was a little rough waking us up every time the door slammed. But the second night wasn't as bad. But I'll end on a good note, location was very convenient, lots of fast food options nearby if that's your thing. We chose it as it was dog-friendly and not too far from Starved Rock and the areas around it. Everything we needed to reach was within 10-20 minutes which was great! And again front desk staff and management was so great and friendly!

I've stayed at other Days Inn's that were complete trash so this was a nice surprise. There are two floors of rooms. Stairs to the second floor are right off the lobby by the ice machine. Rooms are a decent size but the bathroom configuration was weird. It was a tiny single sink right off the front door. Next to that was a door to the bathroom with a shower and a toilet. Really cramped space. But whatever. You're not staying at a Days Inn because you're looking for luxury. Breakfast is solid. Think the make your own waffles, oatmeal, bagels, muffins, microwaveable omelets, yogurt, toast, and more. Coffee, juice, and tea was also available. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again. It's a quick drive to both Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park. And the rooms were clean and the staff was nice.

Our room smelled like heavy smoke, the fridge was so frozen over it didn't work, very few outlets were in there so the quick fix was multiple power strips were used in the room. The walls were so thin, ugh, it was a long night of listening to other people talking and doing their thing, vehicles driving by.... On our way back through we will look for a different hotel.

We were given one room (the bigger size room) and had to change rooms because it smelled like cigarette smoke so much that we were getting sick. They moved us to a "non-smoking" room, as they said all of the rooms on that side were non-smoking. They even had "No Smoking" signs on the doors for the surrounding rooms etc. Definitely NOT the case! The room smelled so bad of cigarrette smoke and both rooms on each side of us were constantly smoking. Granted, they never even gave us any money back either for moving to a smaller room (you barely have any room to move in the smaller room). There were cigarrette burns all over the room, stains on the bed covers, floors etc. I don't think it had even been cleaned or vaccuumed in weeks. We had to use our own sheets and covers because it was too nasty to even sit on. I would stay away from this place for sure unless you are desperate and a smoker.
