Wow this is a gem of a hotel! Firstly if you love nature, this hotel is only 15 minutes from Starved Rock State Park. The staff here is absolutely fantastic! They are incredibly friendly and so helpful. I truly loved how this hotel is right off the highway but just enough that it's so quiet. The parking lot is very spacious. This hotel also has a fantastic breakfast included in your stay. Truly the staff love their jobs here because they are like a family welcoming you into their home. It's so remarkable. Most lower tier Hilton properties are franchised so the quality within the same brand can vary a bit. Fortunately, this is one of the better Hampton Inns I have stayed in. I could tell by how the shower curtain is hung with the corners fanned out, towels folded into flowers like a property higher up the rung in the Hilton chain. Furnishing is also higher in quality made of granite and wood instead of faux marble and particle boards. It is still a Hampton Inn, you are getting paper cups. Breakfast is standard fare powdered eggs. If you are tired of that like me who live in similar properties over 120 nights a year, you are saved here by the Cracker Barrel next door. read more

I've never been to Ottawa Illinois about 63 miles from Chicago. My stay at the Hampton was very positive. I have only positive things to say from the staff and excellent service.The breakfast is actually pretty good from omelets to biscuit and gravy.Hampton actually provides hot food which is very rare due to the Covid.A note to fellow Yelpers that places to eat here are very scarce in Ottawa but have found some nonchain places to enjoy the same good food.Deep dish and beef dip with aujour. read more

CHECK YOUR REVIEW DATES!!! This hotel had 4-1/2 overall stars on Wyndym Rewards site. After staying here, my husband researched the reviews further & found they came from Trip Advisor ratings of 2015 & 2016. We've used the Wyndym site for the last month while traveling & this is the 1st one that was NOT spot on!! We stayed at this hotel with our service dogs. One is trained for seizures & the other is in training at 10 months old for mobility. The check in desk person gave me a very hard time with our dogs. He tried to tell me that service dogs constituted being in police or military service. I became very upset & offered to give him our paperwork & exclaimed that our dogs helped us live our lives!! He said the dogs cannot bark & I told him our dogs have been trained NOT to bark unless there is an emergency occurring. He gave us the keys to the 1st room & it had been smoked in. I asked to have a different room & he was hesitant. I asked him to come to the room to smell it....the window was open & the bath fan was running!! He was nose blind to the smell, but gave us another room. We are non-smokers & can smell it immediately!! We settled into the 2nd room which had all new mattresses & pillows encased with bacteria/bug protecting covers as well as new mattress pads & we slept well. There were stains on the carpet & on the easy chair which could easily be cleaned with a steam cleaner & debris along the wall edges where the vacuum couldn't reach. There was heavy dust on electrical outlets, beside & behind furniture. The carpets could use a good cleaning or replacement. It was very quiet even tho we were right next to Hwy 39. The general manager & the cleaning staff were friendly, bright & cheerful in the morning upon our checkout. I would TRY this hotel again in the future if we are in the area as they ARE working on renovating & we know things can't be done all at once!! A 2nd chance is deserved. read more

Incredibly clean room, good amenities (sufficient gym and pool), and the staff was top notch! Breakfast is typical hotel grub - nothing to write home about, but it's gas in the tank. We drive through this area every June, but this is our first stay at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised! Greeted with a special bag for our pup, complete with dog biscuits and some pet waste bags! This hotel is updated and clean! The free breakfast was the icing on the cake! We occasionally do a weekend near Starved Rock just to get away from the city. This is the first time we stayed in Ottawa overnight usually opting to stay in Ogelsby or Peru. Ottawa will be our official town of choice along with the Hampton Inn as long as Kim is around. Kim really went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay and informed us of the goings on in Ottawa (which we hope to return for the Chris Kringle Market). The hotel was clean and spacious. Horrible experience! The room was completely outdated and old. The worst part of it all was the bed it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever laid on on my entire life. The bed was rock solid hard and it had a slant that made me feel like I was on a slope. The bathroom sink was completely clogged and water took forever to drain. Suspect stains laid all over the sofa. The best was so uncomfortable that I left in the middle of the night due to being unable to sleep on that horrid matress. Walls are paper thin. You literally can hear everything in conjoined rooms and hallway! The air conditioning looked like it was over 20 yrs old all busted up with a non digital thermostat. The whole room felt like we were on a slant. When I would walk across the room my foot would make a thud noise like the floors were hollow wood... never expirenced that in a big name hotel before. I told the front desk and the guy working just explained sorry... still charging full price of $170 for one night!!! Never will I stay here again. I cannot recommend anyone else stay her either. read more

I dig Hampton because they are reliable, consistent and clean and this location was no different. I was in town for work and was only crashing for a few Z's. I checked in around 8pm and I rolled out at 3 in the morning. To the front desk clerk's credit (did not catch a name) she made sure I took a to go breakfast bag with me for later and some coffee for right then. We are a big fan of Hampton Inn but not this one! are room was next to a exit door that had the lock cut out and no working light we did NOT feel safe nor did we get hardly get any sleep their was traffic all hours of the night. we were lied to when we checked in the service lady said that the jacuzzi worked it did not we woke up to ants all over our food. 5 stars, not for the quality of the place, but just the overall experience. Obviously this isn't the most high class hotel, but it's still pretty legit. Came in and check in was really simple. They were pretty much waiting for us when we arrived. Coffee and tea are always available in the lobby. Even have cookies out in the afternoon. Got to our room and had hand written welcome notes from the staff. Nice touch. Rooms are standard and clean. Love the shower bars that extend out and aren't just a straight bar. So much more room. TV channels are kind of confusing, but they give you a list. Right off the highway which is really convenient and right next to restaurants and a gas station. Came back from starved rock after a wedding and had Taco Bell before going up to our room. It was great. Breakfast in the morning was alright. Seemed like processed food (the eggs were all pebble shaped). But hey, comp breakfast is a comp breakfast. Check out was simple, just had to tell them our name on the way out. I have to give this place a rave review. I left a coin purse in my room when I checked out. It had $200 and my apartment key in it. I noticed it missing about 3 hours and a 150 miles later and called them. Their housekeeping staff had turned it in intact, and I got the whole thing back i the mail a few days later. I was and am very impressed. We stopped here because we wanted to go to Starved Rock State Park, which is only 12 miles away. The room we had was very nice and rather large, comfortable enough that we spent a good part of the next morning lying around and enjoying it. The free breakfast is one of our favorite features of Hampton Inns, and this one had everything one might want. The pool was nice and right downstairs from our room. read more

I have had very good luck with Hampton Inns and this one did not disappoint. The hotel is very nicely decorated, the rooms are large and clean and the staff is very friendly. This is definitely not a 4 or 5 star hotel but for what you pay and what you get, this is a 5 star accommodation. They have a nice indoor pool and spa, fitness room, and free breakfast. The breakfast is good, although after a few days of it we did need to venture out for something a little different. Overall, I have no complaints about this hotel. For a small town hotel it's super nice. The hotel has been recently renovated and from the lobby to the rooms, it's clean and quiet. It's a little hidden off the road, behind the Cracker Barrel. Great spot for breakfast in the morning! Was it the cheapest hotel around? No. It was about $25 a night more than the surrounding hotels like the Holiday Inn, but I'm glad I spent a little more and stayed here. I'd stay here anytime. Very nice Hampton Inn I stayed at, while on my recent Starved Rock/North Utica/Rochelle trip. Even free cookies at the front desk when I went inside to check in, interestingly! You can walk right out of the front door to Taco Bell or Cracker Barrel(lol, though I didn't go to either). And a Wal-Mart Supercenter is a very short walk away(which I did go to). Very interesting juxtaposition of both a big box shopping center and I-80 on one side, and a cornfield and Ottawa water tower on the other side(which was the side my room was on). read more

Typical Hampton Inn with no surprise. Located off I-80 on 23 N, this location is convenient to all the local state parks in the area. Stayed there for July 4th. I was nicely greeted on arrival by a friendly hostess who took the time to explain all the hotel amenities and nearby attractions. Rooms are clean. We're big fans of Hamptons and this one is just as good as the rest, just a bit smaller than normal. Wonderful customer service, great breakfast (just not as big of a variety as others), clean comfy rooms. Pet friendly! Walls are a bit thin and they don't have a "store." I have been a frequent here since 2008. The manager, Tina, runs a clean and friendly place. This Hampton does not have the latest remodels, but it does have clean rooms and LCD TVs. They do not have power doors. Odd considering everyone coming through the doors usually has luggage and other items in tow. read more

Waited to be greeted for several minutes upon check-in with no way to alert the employee waiting in the back that we had arrived, hot tub was not working and no one bothered to post a sign or let us know, charged 3 nights when we stayed only 2, employee on the phone blamed Expedia and would not relent or offer any sort of assistance in resolving the issue. Stayed here when we went to Utica to hike Starved Rock and go to the Burgoo Fest. Small, clean hotel, reasonable rate, free parking, free breakfast, a pool and hot tub, a small fitness center, easy access to/from the highway, behind a Cracker Barrel and in proximity of lots of fast food restaurants, walmart, and probably anything else you may need. Free cookies in the lobby in the evening (and there were also apples for the more healthy minded). Short drive to Starved Rock, so if I couldnt get a room in Utica I wouldnt mind staying here again. read more

Very nice & clean. Recently remodeled. Quiet with the exception of the rude people who come in at all hours talking like they're at their own house, letting their kids run up and down the hallway, and slamming doors. But that's not the hotel's fault. I just wish people would use their brains when at a hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is pretty decent. Plenty of food options nearby as well as a Wal-Mart. Downtown Ottawa is maybe a 10-minute drive up the main street and Starved Rock is about 10-minutes away on the expressway.
