Repulsive

I walked up the stairs walking right into a spider web! Yuck! It seemed decent when I first walked inside. There was a bug on the sink when I walked in but it was an outside bug so I figured, no biggie it must've flew in when I walked in right? RIGHT? WRONG. (Keep reading it gets worse) I inspected the bathroom first as I always do and I took a shower because it was late. I did notice that there was a significant gap in between the door and it kept making noise? I put a chair behind the door because it's practically open and as a solo female traveler your worse nightmare is someone breaking into your hotel room during the night. Just as I was about to lay down I noticed 3 more of the same bugs on the ceilings and the curtain. I called the hotel staff which was very INCONSIDERATE and NEGLIGENT. No "hospitality"whatsoever. Was rude and hung up on me. She basically told me her manager was "sleeping so there was nothing she could do." Huh? There is no one at your location at 1AM at a 24 hour establishment??? Didn't offer any help. I asked her at least could she spray the room for me, NOPE. Their customers are WORTHLESS to them. Just dollar signs apparently. As I'm typing this literally another bug crawled in! I can't even sleep tonight and they won't give me a refund! They allowed someone in a truck to take up a total of 4 parking spaces on the side of the building, and it's already a small area to try and park in! Lastly, The remote in the room wasn't even programmed to the television.

Curtains have holes, toilet was plugged and staff gave me a plunger to do it myself. Breakfast was alright, but bed was hard.

I was traveling alone and this was a huge safety concern. I stayed on my way up to NC and on the way back to FL- so 2 night, but separated by days in between. Next- the back door of the hotel was out of order- so the closest entrance was no open. Next- the sidewalk at the back of the hotel is horrible and doesn't continue around the building, so you have to walk in the parking lot, instead of having a sidewalk that goes around the entirety of the building. My second visit- they had the plumbing worked on and I was warned that the water coming out of the taps may be brownish and to run it for a few minutes first. And- only one elevator was operational & the floor of that elevator was disgusting. Ok- that was a lot. The good- the 2nd floor looked mostly done with renovating. Flooring outside the elevator and down the hallway looked new. The floors in both my rooms were new, new furniture, bathrooms mostly redone- or at least a work in progress. Beds were comfy, breakfast was packed in the morning- but fine. Overall a decent stay.

Even though i only…read moreplanned on 2-3 hotel stays, one goal was to find the cheapest and grimiest trucker / biker hotel in the east. Sunset Inn Manning takes that honor. The people hanging out in the lounge were friendly and seemed cool... i think they worked there? They dont use computers here so checkin was a breeze. There werent very many vehicles in the lot but this place is a little out of the way considering that the previous exit off I95 had some better known hotels - but i bet they didn't have truck parking or cost less than $40 a night! When i walked into the hallway looking for my room there was this ridiculous smell and i couldn't figure out what it was. Inside the room it wasn't as pungent and it acutally seemed kind of clean. That is until i slept off the 10hrs i had just spent on my bike and was able to see and breath again. The bed sheets were white but had some yellow stains on them, as did some of the towels (not my stains). I hope it was just ultra strong bleach proof SC trucker sweat - no bigs, i sweat like a barbarian too. The carpet was a fun mix of colors and was oddly clumped together when it shouldn't be. There was a small fridge in to room but it was disconnected, along with everything else. I'm not sure if it's weird housekeeping staff or just SC custom. I didn't see any critters in here, but i'm sure they're around. The bathroom... that was strangely clean. Now, i could've spent a few more bucks and stayed somewhere a bit nicer but i really was looking for this. Most regular humans would give this place 1-2 stars. It is a solid 3-4 star spot for bad m-f'n road warriors though. Oh and the smell - turns out that non smoking rooms are strategically placed in halls full of smoking rooms.

The Inn at the Crossroads - Lake City, SC As the only…read moresit-down restaurant in town, the restaurant at The Inn at the Crossroads holds a special place in Lake City's dining scene. Tucked inside this boutique hotel, it's a welcoming space for date nights, business dinners, or whenever you want to impress someone with a little Southern charm and city-style polish. The food is good, with great appetizers that set the tone for the meal. The pasta dishes arrive hot and satisfying, and there's a full bar to pair your plate with a handcrafted cocktail or a glass of wine. The vibe? Chic yet comfortable--a nice break from the grab-and-go options around town. Their lunch specials used to be a real treat--tasty, creative, and affordable. Unfortunately, those have been paused again, which takes away a bit of the accessibility that once made it a go-to spot for locals on a lunch break. To be fair, while the meals are enjoyable and the space is lovely, the restaurant still seems to be finding its rhythm, especially when it comes to service times and consistent hours. That said, when it's open and operating smoothly, you're in for a good experience. All in all, it's a solid choice for a nice evening out in Lake City, with plenty of potential to become something even greater. We'll keep coming back--hoping each time they're a little closer to finding their groove.
