I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated by the staff at this hotel on July 25, 2026,…read morewhile providing private transportation services for one of their guests.
I arrived to pick up a hotel guest who had mobility limitations and was unable to walk a long distance. I positioned my vehicle near the entrance in the designated pickup area and remained inside my vehicle while waiting. I never abandoned my vehicle and was simply waiting for my passenger to come downstairs.
Instead of approaching the situation with understanding and professionalism, a valet attendant immediately spoke to me in a rude manner and demanded that I move. I explained that I was picking up a handicapped guest and would move as soon as the guest arrived. Rather than trying to accommodate the situation, the matter was escalated to management.
Jasmine, the Office Manager, arrived and I calmly explained the situation again. I informed her that I was providing transportation for a handicapped Marriott guest and would leave as soon as the guest entered my vehicle. Instead of listening or attempting to resolve the issue, she called the police and reported that I was trespassing.
Before law enforcement even arrived, my guest came downstairs, entered my vehicle, and I immediately left the property.
Later, after completing my scheduled tour, I returned to drop my guest back off at the hotel. Tia, the Front Desk Manager, came outside and again accused me of trespassing. I was shocked because I was simply returning a paying hotel guest to the property where they were staying. Once again, the police were contacted.
Having law enforcement called on me twice while I was simply providing transportation services to a hotel guest was extremely upsetting and unnecessary. I never refused to leave, caused a disturbance, threatened anyone, or interfered with hotel operations.
The most troubling part was later learning that a detective contacted my business regarding this situation. As a business owner who works hard to build a professional reputation and represent New Orleans with hospitality, it was heartbreaking to have my business contacted as if I had committed a crime when I was simply helping a guest, including accommodating someone with a disability.
I also requested the name of the valet attendant from Don, the Front Desk Clerk, because the valet was not wearing a visible name tag. Don refused to provide the information and instead used his personal phone to contact my business number in what appeared to be an attempt to identify me. After realizing it was my business line, he disconnected and later contacted me from the hotel phone. This behavior was highly unprofessional.
This entire situation could have been resolved with basic communication and understanding. Instead, staff members Jasmine, Tia, Don, and the valet attendant escalated the situation and involved law enforcement unnecessarily.
I strongly encourage hotel management to review the surveillance footage, incident reports, police call records, and employee actions related to this incident. The cameras should clearly show that I was waiting for a guest, that I left immediately after pickup, and that I returned only to drop the guest off.
As someone who provides professional services to visitors in New Orleans, I expected respect and cooperation from a hospitality establishment. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. I hope management takes this matter seriously and addresses the way guests, transportation providers, and community partners are treated in the future.
