This property has been recently renovated, so many of the common areas and the hallways show this updating, but things like the carpet in the rooms and the bathrooms have clearly been an afterthought. I'm not mad, though, because this was a quick stop in a long journey to get home. Thankfully, everyone was nice, the hotel was quiet, and my bed was comfortable. The only reason this place gets 4 rather than 5 stars is the breakfast bag I got to-go. Who in their right mind serves a bagel with only peanut butter and jelly?! This is NY and I can't get cream cheese with my bagel?!?! COME ON, HILTON!

Every single staff member on my most recent two visits was polite, efficient, and super competent. The place is sparkling clean, and their housekeeping unit has a large staff (compared to similar places I've stayed recently). The pool room is super relaxing and (literally) warm; guests have their choice between a small whirlpool and a small regular pool. The latter was a bit too cold for me, but plenty of other folks made regular use of it. Breakfast is your typical Hampton Inn fare, though I've always thought Hampton's breakfast food is better than most economy/express hotels. (And don't tell anyone, but I may or may not have snuck in a bowl of Lucky Charms at one point...) More than anything, the staff there is just plain NICE, welcoming, and kind -- and in a clearly authentic, down-to-earth way. The reason I'm going with the 5 star review is based on the exceptional service. Barbara hooked up all of my reservations much more efficiently than the app or the 800 number could. She provided a great long term stay rate and helped make adjustments when needed. When Barbara wasn't available Nicholas took great care of me. Exceptional service like that is rare and should be recognized. Fantastic job!

The room was very clean and well-equipped, featuring a flat-screen TV, a closet & large drawers. The kitchen had everything we needed, including an electric stove, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, and all necessary cups, plates, pots, cooking & eating utensils The bathroom was stocked with hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner (which was nice since some hotels use 2- or 3-in-1 cleansing products). There was also a hair dryer, laundry basket, iron & ironing board. The hotel also had a gym and a laundry room with complimentary washers and dryers. Additionally, there was a room offering complimentary coffee and tea, as well as snacks and other amenities for purchase. The only major downside was the odor. Both my room and my friend's room had a terrible smell. We couldn't pinpoint the source, & after a while, our nose adjusted to it. It would have been an issue had we stayed longer. If that had been the case, we would have definitely asked the front desk to address it or purchase air fresheners from the nearby Walmart (which, by the way, is huge). On a side note, Candlewood does not have electric car charging stations, but the hotel next door does offer free charging. However, be sure to ask before using it, and don't leave your car charging for too long, as they might tow it if you're not a guest at their hotel. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Well, this time, I was driving back from New York after my flight was canceled, following a 15 hour flight, and I was desperate at 1am to find somewhere to sleep for a few hours. I literally stayed at the hotel for about 5 hours. Hands down, this Best Western was the best hotel I've stayed at. Tom, who was the front desk person, and Robert, who was the host made my stay comfortable, and went above and beyond. The room was impeccable, the rate was outstanding, the room was well stocked with amenities and was clean, clean, clean, clean, clean (and I'm a really tough critic when it comes to that.) The room was comfortable and quiet, and the entire facility was new. I was especially impressed with the little store next to the check in desk that had, pretty much, anything you could need. When I was checking out, Tom insisted that I take some breakfast for the road. I felt like I was staying at someone's house, not a huge hotel! I have already recommended this hotel to my family and friends and will purposefully make the trip back to stay there again. Don't hesitate, this place is a real find.

I should have know when we pulled into the parking lot & smelled the stench of stale smoke before exiting our vehicle, but we had few options as we were in town for a marathon & everything was booked. During check-in, the front desk attendant took another call & left us standing there, which gave me the opportunity to look around. The signs reading "No selling sex, or performing sex in public" & "If your room is canceled by the Motel owner, DSS, and/or Catholic Charities, you must remove your belongings the same day," should have been our second clue to sleep in the car. As predicted, the entire place reeked of cigarette smoke & the "NO SMOKING" signs clashed with the ashtrays built into the hallway walls. Our King room was obviously a Queen or Double, at one point, because the headboard for a second (missing) bed was screwed to the wall. Stickers, seemingly applied by a young, prior guest decorated(?) the remaining headboard. The refrigerator, which was in desperate need of a defrosting, was dingy & in need of repair. The toilet clogged on first use. Thank Chinigchinix we were only there on night, because I refused to undress or get under the covers, opting instead to sleep fully dressed above the bedspread, using a dufffle bag as a pillow. My recommendation to anyone who finds themselves working or staying at America's Best Value Inn - Horseheads get tf outta there. No good can ever come from being there. The place should be stuffed with sage, like a holiday turkey, the place burned to the ground & the land upon which it sits given back to the indigenous peoples who once inhabited it.
