Curtain was torn and frayed, gfci in bath didn't work so the only light was the heat lamp, windows we filthy, no coffee and that's OK. Because there were no cups, towel looked like someone wiped off makeup on them. Fitness room closed, but, the breakfast was good although limited on selection. We stayed here when this hotel was newer and beautiful. Granted, it has been 20 years ago, but this was a total disappointment. Older would be ok, but there is never a reason for unclean and disrepair. Would not recommend at all and won't ever return ourselves. I went to pull the sheets shut to get some privacy without closing heavy drapes. Had to laugh when I pulled the stick for that and NOTHING attached. Pool had bugs in it and definitely not temperature controlled. Couldn't possibly have correct chemicals in it, I'm sure. I have attached several pictures of our room. Eek! Disappointed! The place is stale and run down. I wasn't sure if the ice and vending room was a janitor's closet or not. Room was ok-ish. Dirty floors, Bouncy bed. Curtains blocked the air. They only had decaf for in room coffee. The complementary breakfast was a joke. Sausage patties and do it yourself waffles. Only open powdered creamer. Milk was in an open carafe with something floating on top. I especially loved the sign telling you why breakfast was so crappy. Right next to the sticky tape fly trap hanging over the food. And they charged us for having a service dog? Wrong. Plus the guy running the place has a huge dog off leash in the lobby. The cheaper motels you passed up to come here are the better choice. read more

The room had ac however the main building did not. "Breakfast" consisted of hard bagels, shower water ran for well over 10 minutes without getting hot. Pool was "closed for maintenance" but I think the whole place should have been closed for maintenance. For the price of our stay, they can definitely clean things up. For the amount of people who live and work here there should be no reason that carpet is filthy, the breakfast isn't stocked, the pool was filthy, there were never any pool towels, and no stocked toiletries. Let alone, there was a woman smoking in the indoor pool area. Their handicapped door didn't open with the button. I was very disappointed in the stay here. You could tell they were fixing up rooms which is great but our room had someone else's dirty socks and q tips on the floor. Their blankets on the bed were sheets and our bath towels had holes in them. At some time when the renovations are done this might be a good place, however, it was dirty, smelled of mildew and marijuana. There was no toilet paper availabe. we had to acquire it ourselves. The beds had no blankets and the curtains were tattered and didn't cover the window. the TV service cut out and a staff told us the management didn't pay the bill so it was often out. DO NOT go here!!! We had stayed in this hotel in the past, when it was still called Precious Moments Quality Inn. It was fine then, but not any longer. The place is rundown, in and out, the hallways had a horrible stench and we had issues with our room. We booked our room through (Aug 15-18) Choice Hotels (as we always do) a king suite, with sitting area (couches and chairs) and jacuzzi tub (since we were coming in from helping move our son back to college and looking forward to the jet tub), but this is not what we ended up with. We walked into the room and it was typical/basic room with only a king bed and couch - no jacuzzi tub. We went down to the desk to tell them it was the wrong room and the girl said "the room we booked was missing parts (whatever that means), but the room we were given is the same price".. what??? She also said "I don't know why that room was available, since it's missing parts We then told her we were not going stay and immediately checked out and found another hotel and wanted a refund. That's when she promptly told us that she's not a manager and can't do that... She then gave us an email address to contact. Sent the email.. nothing after days Called the main number... nothing Called Choice Hotels and the gave us another number to try... nothing. Never received ANY call back or anything, so we submitted a dispute to our bank, which is still on going and not looking good. We checked in last night into room 260, after doing a lot of shopping and found this to be the best value. I'm always a little nervous when I go shopping for best value but this hotel was worth the money we paid. The water pressure in the bathroom was great, they actually had coffee service in the room, the beds were both comfortable and firm, the Internet was working great but wasn't as fast as most, and the television channels were numerous. The ceiling above the bathtub needs repair but that's not such a big deal. We're not big fans of the Precious Moments decor but who cares about decor. When it was time to leave, they actually had a continental breakfast set up. Everything was individually wrapped due to COVID-19. This is the first hotel that had any type of breakfast that we've been to in the past 2 1/2 weeks. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars was because of the kindness the front desk staff showed us and our dog. They are doing their best with what they have to work with. The first room they had us in was very dirty, there were stains on the sheets and crumbs on the floor. They were very receptive and did move us to another room, which was a little more clean but had a smell that I can't even describe. The TV didn't work and the lights kept flickering. We toughed it out because they accepted our dog, it was late, we were tired and it was only one night. However, we did not sleep well, and our dog showed us he was also was uncomfortable at this hotel based off of his behavior. He has traveled and stayed in hotels many many times, and never acted like this before. As soon as our alarms went off we got the heck out of there. read more

I gave this hotel 1star because the beds were clean and comfortable and the staff was polite but that was about it. Other than that I felt like I was staying at a run down motel 6. Rooms are very old and out dated with torn/ fraying curtains. The water in the bathroom took over 15min to warm up past lukewarm and paint is peeling off the walls in the bathrooms. The breakfast area made you feel like you were at a family reunion/ potluck with a folding table set next to the lobby desk elegantly decorated with a tropical themed tablecloth. But there was a twist! There was no breakfast. Upon arrival to said potluck I was informed that the attendant had not shown up for work that morning and the man behind the desk was unable to reach her. After being offered extra coffee packets to compensate for the nonexistent breakfast I headed back to the room. Upon arrival to the room I attempted to make coffee and quickly realized that there was a singular used coffee filter available, apparently awaiting its second use. I went to the desk to ask for a fresh one and the man behind the offered me a decaf coffee packet that, unlike the regular coffee packets, came with a filter. Traveling through Carthage MO we found a gem of a hotel. This is the nicest Quality Inn I've seen. From the grand staircase upon entering to the sweet Precious Moments poem in brass on the wall, it has a lovely, welcoming vibe. The front desk staff were very accommodating when I mentioned I had my 75-year-old mother-in-law with me. They gave us a ground floor room close to the lobby. God bless them! The room was spacious and well appointed. The only drawback was the small tub. I like to soak in a hot bath before retiring for the night and small tubs just don't allow for that luxury. Thus, the 4 star rating. Hot breakfast as well as fruit, yogurt, and the like. Nice variety. Stayed on a Friday night in March. $91 total for a 2 queen room. No hot tub but a nice heated pool. Bonus: lots of places to eat within a mile or so. Also has a Wal-Mart, Goody's, Lowe's and grocery store nearby. Highly recommend staying here if you're going through Carthage. read more

This place was nice as it was a bit off the expressway. Not at all covid friendly, as in following any precautions. The front desk gal was very nice but donning no mask, she provided us a room which clearly had not been cleaned evident by the used tools left in the bathroom and with a bit of an odor to it. We were provided another, more satisfactory room. Lots of big group gatherings at the hotel and at the only grocery store we could find,, walmart, no masks. read more

Friendly staff at the front desk. They fully explained amenities and pointed out where I could find everything. The rooms were nice and clean (even to my high standards). Shower ran nice and hot and the bed was clean and comfortable. It was also fairly quiet. They are also pet friendly but ask a $10 pet fee for one night (as of May 2020). They also had an indoor pool that I didn't use but saw and it appeared to be clean as well. Would recommend this hotel to any friend or colleague traveling through the area! read more

When I got to my room, I found it clean, quiet and comfortable. I slept well. This hotel is Precious Moments themed. I have no knowledge base of these statues and paintings, but they weren't intrusive if you aren't there for that reason. read more

The Quality Inn in Carthage, MO is a great hidden gem along I-49 stretch between Northwest Arkansas and Kansas City. Its basically Joplin, MO adjacent. The hotel itself is conveniently located right off of the highway. It has a beautiful pool, and open lobby area with a beautiful staircase that leads to the second floor. (There is an elevator to take you up also. The breakfast is free and on the second floor, DO NOT MISS OUT on this, it is a great breakfast.) The rooms themselves are comfortable, and well maintained. I was in a King room and the bed was on the softer side, but that is what I prefer, so it was a great nights sleep. The desk staff was incredibly helpful, and I enjoyed the stay so much I decided to book another night there. Hope to stay again soon. read more

Place is nice. Updated, inside and out. Decent water pressure. Even the towels were nice and fluffy. I would have given the place five stars had it not been for the EXTREMELY RUDE man at the front desk who all but accused me of trying to get out of paying the pet fee (which of course I had paid upon checking in). I had gone up to the front desk (with my little dog in tow) to explain how the soda machine "ate" my money and that I needed to purchase a water. Unsmiling, he asked me for my room number. As I had just paid cash for the water, I was confused as to why he needed my room number. So I asked him "why do you need my room number?" He ignored me. I asked again- actually, I asked twice. He finally admitted that he was looking at my account to ensure that I'd paid the pet fee. What??!! I guess the fact that I needed to get my soda machine money back makes me look like a potential loser trying to get one over on the hotel (basically "stealing" the $20 pet fee). Sooooo ...... sorry Quality Inn, but you don't get to accuse me of being a thief. You're lucky I gave you TWO stars. NOT acceptable. Not only was the action unprofessional, it was mean spirited and unkind, with absolutely no regard for my feelings as a person. Please do some customer service training with your staff. I stayed here during a traveling show and I was really impressed with my experience. Calling ahead on my day of stay, I was able to get an early check in which really helped in my travels. When you walk into the lobby, this beautiful grand staircase greets you, along with nice upbeat music, which gives a nice, homey welcome to your stay. The front desk staff was friendly, efficient, and nice enough to give me some suggestions on local sites, business establishments, and directions. Upon entering my room, the room was clean, quite spacious, and the temperature was perfect. The beds were comfortable, which afforded a nice sleep, and the hot breakfast the next day was just the thing to get me going in the morning. On Sunday we lost our beloved 13 year old lab, on Tuesday we lost my mother in law. My husband had to make the drive from AL to MO to handle business. He and his brother wanted a place to stay where they could decompress after handing affairs. I found this place on priceline SUPER CHEAP!!! I was like well we'll give it a go. He said the place was wonderful, Staff was fantastic, it is clean, breakfast was good, indoor pool they didn't use lol But all in all it's perfect. Now for the freaky part, my mother in law was a collector of precious moments. Hubby called and told me the wifi is called Precious moments inn, then he tells me there are pics in the room of precious moments. Coincidental? Maybe?! Freaky for sure!!! Always loved Quality Inn, and looked forward to this reservation made a way over a month prior to my three day work stay, which turned out to occur during the unpredicted COVID-19 outbreak. Not surprisingly, there were less than 10 vehicles in the lot. Checked in Friday afternoon, upon opening the curtains, noticed heavy fraying. Surprising for Quality Inn, but can be overlooked. Tried to watch some news before work - "No Signal" - on any channel. As I left for work, I talked to the lady at the desk and informed her about the tv. She said she'd take care of it. Returned in the AM, tv worked! It came on... now to change channels... only one channel worked. ONLY ONE. Well, I was going to sleep on it and then tell the staff again. That afternoon, I told staff, was given a new remote. Same thing. Staff came to room. Wasn't able to fix issue after over half an hour and many return trips to and from room. Now I'm getting aggravated. Needed to shower for work. Discovered a thick, yellowish scum was stuck in the tub. Removable by putting elbow grease into it with a towel. Something housekeeping apparently failed to do. This is all NOT acceptable. It's ridiculous. Then on checkout, I couldn't even get a receipt because it was all screwed up by the clerk. Horrible stay. Manager (who was there after I checked out) said "stay with us again and we'll make it right." Well... 1) It should have been made right on my this stay. Get it right the first time. I was there 3 days and you failed to correct it. That's a long time to correct a problem, don't you think? My work doesn't give me that much luxury. 2) I'm a quick learner. Why would I make the foolish mistake of staying there again? Chopped Liver at Prime Rib prices. To travelers: DEMAND a REFUND or ANOTHER ROOM. And be forewarned: the breakfast is continental (breads, cereal, pastries, yogurt, fruit) and a waffle iron. No meats and very little protein. Also a huge departure from every other Quality Inn I've stayed at previously. The chain ought to dump off this location, or these employees who can't think ver quick on their feet. Awesome hotel with a Christian influence that's not in your face or anything. I think the decor is perfect not cheesy or overdone in the precious moments. We stayed in rm 230 the beds and showers were clean and comfortable. The curtains couldve covered more outside light but I did sleep pretty good. My son loved the pool. First of all, we stay here several times a year as our family lives in town. We always rent the suites. The smallest suite has always worked out well so we never needed the bigger one. This last Christmas was out first to use it because apparently they accidentally gave ours to someone else? Anyway, it was okay but we like the other better. My mother has bad hips and cant climb the stairs very well to get to the bed. We had my daughters bday party booked for this last weekend, since October. While we were there for my nieces party. We got there Saturday on the 2nd, and our room was unavailable as they accidentally gave it to someone else, again. So we got the big suite. They gave us the same price I guess but still disappointed. That room wasnt ready yet through, it was still being cleaned. So we came back. No biggie. One of us took a shower shortly after arrival and there was hair stuck to the shower wall. Oh and an empty bottle of shampoo and a used bar of soap on the door frame in the shower..... gross. That night my mother was making the pull out bed, because she cant get to the bed remember, and the sheet she pulled out was dirty with like crusty ketchup or something. So okay, there are a few strikes... she called down and told them both issues and they brought up new sheets. She took the lady into the bathroom and showed her the shower and asked could they come clean in the morning. Next morning, mom spoke to 2 housekeepers about it. My daughters party is at 2. We have three women and a child that needs to take showers and get ready. I waited as long as I could before I had no more time to waste, took a shower and went to decorate for the party. My guests were gonna be there soon, I had to still change and do makeup and my daughters hair. She turned 5 on that day. The house keepers were just getting there at around 2:15pm. A gentleman spoke with them, we told him about our issues. Apparently that really ticked them off. About four of them were storming all over the room wiping stuff down, mouthing to eachother about us the entire time. I was more concerned about getting my daughter to her party. So I try to ignore it all. One of them very hatefully asked how she is supposed to make the bed with my things on it. It was the clothes I was changing into. Another was mouthing downstairs mocking us that we couldn't clean it ourselves and saying we "just want a free room, but no room is free, especially not a suite". Ok. Well we all bite our tongues, 5 of us are in there hearing and watching all this mind you. Finally a friend of ours had enough, was tired of the disrespect and while they were at the cart in the hall she told them that's enough, if we need anything else we will call and she set the vaccum outside and shut the door. Finally, I get to the party, watch my 5 year old open maybe 2 gifts and here roll up the police. I missed my daughters party because I was being questioned. They let us finish and we had to leave even though we had the room another night and the swimming pool for the party. They didnt let us swim. When what it all started with was bad house keeping. A member of our party was downstairs using the restroom that is next to the front desk and she said all the employees were talking so loud and causing a scene about us that guests were coming out of there rooms to see what was going on. Very professional. After the police left, my sister went to the desk and asked for the number to corporate. The lady said she is a manager and asked what the problem was, again my sister asked for the number and the lady handed her business card. It was the phone number to the motel... Oh and by the way, when we left, they still didn't get the shower cleaned correctly. The shampoo bottle and soap was still in place. So, don't forget your cleaning supplies. read more

I sleep in motels more often than I sleep at home. I used to own my own business, so I'm usually pretty easygoing when there's faults or problems. I get it. Part of sleeping on the road is getting the occasional bedbug bites. I always inform the staff when it happens, and I don't make a fuss, (or write a review). This time was a little different, though. I got there on a Saturday, and was flying out Sunday afternoon. My company pays for everything, so I have a Corporate Lodging card. It used to be that certain hotels would ask for a credit card in addition to the CLC card "for incidentals". Like if you stole something, or broke something. But they ended that practice, and there's now a letter in place saying that the company agrees to pay for anything along those lines. This is all part of their, (the hotel's), contract with CLC. They aren't supposed to be asking for a credit card anymore. So the clerk asks me for a credit card "for incidentals". I explain that they're not suppose to do that anymore, but she insists, so I just give it to her to speed things up. I didn't call Corporate Lodging to inform them. I just let it slide. Nevertheless, I'm detecting some unfriendliness from this woman the rest of my stay. I ignore it. The next day, my flight wasn't until 5:00, but I had to check out by 1:00, so I just went down to the airport to wait. Couple hours later, flight is canceled. I head back to the hotel. The next day, things aren't looking any different weather-wise, so instead of going to the airport, I just hang out in the lobby and wait. The flight is canceled. They hadn't cleaned the room I was in, so I just asked to be put back in it. But this clerk was strangely insistent about giving me a new room. "Fine", I says, although I can't understand why. I mean, I hadn't even left the place. I ended up staying two more nights before getting out of there. The first night in this room, it looked like I might have gotten bit, but I didn't pay much attention. The next day, after the second night in room 132, I was pretty obviously bit up. I informed housekeeping as I left. But I didn't really notice how badly I was bit until I got down the road a ways. I ended up getting a rental car because I still couldn't get a flight out of there. A few hours into the drive, I started to feel like I'd passed out in the woods overnight! Like I had a million mosquito bites! I was itching like crazy, and I could start to see all these bites swell up. I live on the road, people, and I've never been bit like this. That bed must've been swarming with bedbugs. Unbelievable. And it was the first time I've been bit at all since the pandemic started. Speaking of the pandemic that we're all in the midst of, this clerk wasn't wearing a mask, nor were hardly any of the guests. If Missouri has any regulations, they weren't following them here. The last thing I want is to catch Covid-19 out there, with these country ICUs all overwhelmed. All in all, it was a pretty odd experience, and I'm still not sure what to make of it. The room was clean, the staff was super friendly, having a refrigerator was key to having late night snacks, there was a pool that looked nice (we didn't have time to use it) but we did manage to get up for breakfast in the morning! Definitely worn out hotel with very dated decor and old floors/carpeting - while the bed was great and the towels were clean, there was a damp odor everywhere - the AC in the hallway? - encountered a cockroach on the wall of my bathroom my second night -UGH. Also, in spite of signage on the door informing us to NOT use that side entrance to hotel, and that it remained locked for security purposes, it wasn't locked. and actually a bit ajar. Since my upstairs room was nearest to stairwell down to this door, that was a little disturbing. Stairwell obviously hadn't been cleaned either - I stopped by front desk and showed them the dead cockroach I'd killed/kept in Kleenex, and told them about the side door. The front desk clerk told two men who stepped into front desk area about the issues - one of them said they'd take care of it. Came back that evening .... door STILL unlocked. No offer to change me to a different room, nothing. Decent price for the type of amenities/hotel, but I wouldn't stay here again. read more

This place was great, It was quiet and near a walmart so I could buy groceries and snacks for the room. There wasn't much to do around the immediate area, which made it nice and quiet. But it was very close to Joplin where there was shopping and all kinds of stuff to do. I liked the decor of the hotel it was unique and interesting. The hotel was spacious in the lobby as well as the rooms, People were quietly reading in the lobby a couple of the nights I was there. Also you can see the pool from the lobby. read more

I always give my wife a hard time because she loves Hampton Inns (I do to but the costs are painful). I heard several times this morning about "yup, never had an uncomfortable bed at a Hampton Inn). We booked 3 rooms for class and family reunions over the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is well maintained. The staff (front desk, breakfast bar & housekeeping) is extremely friendly and accommodating, even with the last-minute addition of our puppy. Although they do allow pets, we didn't notice any evidence, in smell or condition of the room or on the grounds. Bed was comfortable, air conditioning rocked and breakfast was good. Our microwave was missing, no big deal. Pool looked nice. Overall, excellent stay. I left my jewelry and they fedex'd it to me. Blown away. Thank you Anthia. read more

The carpeting on the floor was nothing short of resplendent, and a half-spiral staircase with an upstairs balcony-type lounge area only added to the aura of class that barraged my senses upon entering this mystical place. When beloved singer / songwriter Belinda Carlisle released her 1987 hit single "Heaven is a Place on Earth" I firmly believe she was talking about this place. There was art smartly placed throughout the lobby, with many being from the Precious Moments collection--something that my mother has always loved, and brought back nostalgic feelings of Christmas time in my childhood when she would set out her lovely Precious Moments winter village set. The lady at the front desk was super friendly, and we got our keys and began walking down the hallway to our room. The hallway itself is worth mentioning, as it is wide, has exquisite carpeting similar to the lobby, and smells of clean laundry and homeliness. I feel the need to mention that I'm being completely serious about all of this folks, I'm not a paid actor; nobody put me up to this. I'm just your standard everyman like you, but when I stayed in this hotel, the majestic aesthetic of this place made me feel like a king. Our room was spotless. The small coffee pot that came with the room was adorable, and the fridge was set in a really classy-looking cabinet type thing. I don't even know what it is but it just looked cool as hell. The lighting in the room was warm and ambient, and the beds were beyond comfortable. Outside our window we had an absolutely breathtaking view of the beautiful Missouri countryside complete with diverse and fascinating wildlife right in plain sight. Inside the bathroom, the wallpaper was deliciously tacky and felt like a blast from the past. I thought I had seen it all until I went to take a shower, and discovered that the shower head had THREE DIFFERENT SETTINGS. I only ever use the basic standard setting, but the fact that I had options was mind-blowing. I feel like Quality Inns are thought of as just being your standard, regular run-of-the-mill hotels, but this particular one in Carthage, Missouri is a Quality ++++++ Inn. We found this place by absolute blind luck--the stars in the sky must have aligned in a certain way that awoke our subconscious and caused it to whisper to us that we must stay in this hotel. I am frankly disappointed that this was not listed in any tourist brochures for Missouri that I have seen thus far. To be honest, as a long time atheist, this hotel makes me think that perhaps there is a god, as I have a hard time believing that humanity and all of our flawed ways would be able to craft such perfection on this earth.
