The hotel is also close to the central part of Carthage and walking distance from the "Pancake Hut." This is what our roadtrip is all about! FYI it's pretty "basic" so if you're looking for the Hilton you won't find it here, but if you're looking to stay in a classic that's clean, this is your place. :)

This place has 5 stars because it IS amazing. Everything felt updated - new and clean - and yet they have successfully created a vintage vibe. Gorgeous floors. No television! (I hadn't even told my boyfriend b/c anytime we travel, the first thing he does is turn the TV on.). There was a radio on when we arrived and it was great music, with almost no commercials. The woman who checked us in? She called us about 5:40 pm b/c we hadn't arrived yet. (I didn't realize the welcome center / check in closed at 6 pm.) I told here we were just about 30 minutes away. She said she'd wait for us. (We were there right at 6 pm.) She was so helpful. We had a pleasant evening walking to the Courthouse square and then just a half block away for Baum (ice cream). Really a wonderful stay. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend. Perfect stay for anyone driving route 66.

Me and my mother just checked into our room, and I can already tell that we're going to have an…read moreawesome staycation. For starters, the male at the front desk is very professional. I also appreciate how they have a large snack bar, breakfast, ice cream, and bottled water. In fact, I'm currently having an apple while writing this review. Our king suite is very clean and organized. Although we won't be needing it, I like the idea of a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the suite. And I also like the night light for the restroom. The sliding door for the restroom is slightly difficult to find at first, but that wasn't that much of an issue for us. The air conditioner is somewhat loud, but I feel like it could be used as white noise for people who enjoy ASMR, white noise, ETC. The chair that goes with the desk is somewhat bouncy, but comfortable. I enjoy spinning in it. I also like the mini kitchen. Not that we personally will be needing the dishwasher, it's still nice to have. I appreciate how all of the floors have ice machines. The one on the 4th floor is out of order at the moment, but they haven't put a sign up stating that. I quite enjoy the general layout of our suite. The restroom is very cozy. Small, modern, and minimalist, which really suits my style. The shower was very comfortable as well, the water warm. To top it all off, I enjoyed my second cup of hot chocolate from the lobby--it's been a cozy little experience. I had a good night's sleep overall. However, the neighboring room had their TV on quite loudly, and I could faintly hear it through the wall while lying in bed. The air conditioner also woke me up a few times during the night. The selection of breakfast food was decent. It took a little while for my mom to figure out how to use the waffle machine, though. A sign with instructions would be nice. There were plenty of places to sit. It's slightly difficult to find where you put the dirty trays. I also think there should be a sign with instructions for that. It's very quiet down there, which I apperciate. The check out process is very simple and fast. We will be back in the near future.

Other people had been waiting 2 and 3 hours to check in, or had to haul luggage up 4 flights of stairs to their rooms, whereas we waited 15 minutes to check-in and had to go up 1 flight. Thirty minutes later, the elevators were working, too. The woman working at check-in was all by herself and incredibly pleasant, even as she was understandably frazzled. I really wished she had some help. Or a big hug from someone at the end of the day. I hope the company recognizes her for working hard in extraordinary circumstances. We had a suite, and it was spacious. Our teenage son used the fold out sofa bed while we had the private bedroom. A bathroom was accessible from both rooms. The kitchen at the entrance included a full size fridge with big freezer, which was great for solidifying the packs from my cooler. There was also a microwave, dishwasher, and a coffee pot that we didn't use. We did find a broken thing in the room, the security brace at the door. We tried to set it, and it fell onto the floor! We let the front desk know about that as we left. The bathroom was handicap accessible and had a tub with a hand wand as well as an overhead nozzle. Everything in the bathroom functioned. The bed was comfortable. I couldn't hear noise from the corridor during the night, but there was noise from occasional trucks and that was quite loud. The overall location of the hotel was nice. There are many restaurants within easy walking distance. Lots of gas stations and other shops, too.
