I can't say enough positive things about this campsite! It's tucked away but not too far out of the way. The owner/management is amazing. She was super accommodating and helpful with our requests. The facilities were sparkling clean! Several of the campers are long term for work and friendly. It was a nice, quite place to stay. We brought our bicycles along to ride parts of Route 66. We went both east and west and it was great road riding! Everyone in town was friendly. It rained one evening so we went to Webb City and joined the VFW for some Bingo - the gang couldn't have been nicer there! Carthage is a must stay/check out place! read more

This place is so nice. We have stayed at many rv parks. These ladies were so accommodating. We came last minute for stop overnight as the weather was getting bad. (Historical rain and flooding) They told us where to find all road closures and gave us all the help we needed. They offer veterans discounts. Clean facilities, easy drive through. Good cable selection and internet, pet friendly. I would say this is better than a lot of KOA camps we have stayed at. I recommend this place to anyone. read more

We absolutely loved this place! It is the best kept secret of this area! The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly- and it seemed we needed more help than usual. The bathrooms, showers, and laundry are very clean, maybe a little older, but comfortable and clean. The sites are level, and in warmer weather you may want to ask for a shaded site. read more

Second time we are here. Came her last year by chance. Top notch RV PARK. very clean and well organized. New equipment. Sites well maintained. And the WIFI is crazy good. They have more than one transmitter so you get a great signal no mater where you are parked. Great people to talk to. Check out there store. You won't be disappointed. read more

OMG! Quiet, clean, level spots ,gravel and a concrete patio. Big enough for our RV with tow. No need to disconnect. The cable for TV best we've had traveling on the road. Couldn't make it before the office closed. The manager was very polite when I called. Just pick a spot and drop by the office in the morning. Our pet loved walking around. This is a nice quiet RV park with well maintained grass lawns, beautiful flower beds, and large shade trees. That being said, we didn't experience those beautiful sites because we were put in the back of the park, amongst the full time residents. We stayed for one month and the entire time we were there, the laundry was out of order...no big deal, as there was a nice laundromat close by. All in all, we had a good stay. We would stay again, but would request a nicer spot! read more

A very lovely park - clean, quiet and accommodating. The flowers are plentiful and the spring crop has buds ready to burst open! No enclosed bark park but there are lots of grassy areas - our 'girls' really enjoyed their walks. We also took advantage of the Precious Moments factory being only a few minutes away and enjoyed a couple of peaceful hours wandering their beautiful grounds and chapel and shops. A much needed respite to break up our trip home. We will definitely be back during our southbound trip next October. Highly recommended! read more

S P A C I O U S!! ... and green everywhere! This RV Park is a beautiful, quiet little gem. Plenty of large shade trees and lots of wide, well-groomed grassy areas make this place feel like a state Park instead of a private campground. And the showers & bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. Best of all... We got a couple of home-made cookies upon arrival!! ;-) If you need a place near Carthage, MO... don't miss Big Red Barn!! What a lovely Campground! My boyfriend and I camped here for one night, the tent site is on well maintained grass - so extremely comfortable and easy to pitch our tent onto. The washrooms are very nice and warm, and the management were extremely welcoming and helpful, they even accommodated us arriving late which was very kind. read more

This campground is quiet and has super friendly people running it. After several previous campgrounds that were near railroad tracks or big trucking/industrial sites, the quiet was wonderful. Easy access to attractions in Carthage, including the Route 66 Drive-In. Most of the roads and sites are gravel, but fairly level. This is not the fanciest, most up-to-date campground, but the friendly staff, shade trees and quiet were what we needed. read more

Ugh! Don't understand the positive reviews. Found this place on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. Some roads are paved, some gravel. Restrooms need updating. Huge wasp nest with wasps crawling all over it right above the women's restroom door. Grounds are poorly lit at night. Some areas have no lights, and lights are burned out in other areas. Trash cans were overflowing. Would not stay here again. read more

We've been FT RVers for almost 10 years. Big Red Barn RV Park is the worst experience we've ever had. We had a six month agreement at $375 monthly plus electric to include cable and internet. When we arrived, on a rainy evening, the work camper who parked us, couldn't be more rude. When we went to pay the rent, we were charged $500, ($375 rent, $75 deposit & $50 electric deposit). We asked if there were any park rules, and we were told by the female work camper, "None other than you need to pick up after your dog." We were charged 14 cents per kw in May and 16 cents in June (should be the same as Empire Electric charges, but they must need the money, as regular occupancy is primarily the full timers). We purchased a new car in June, before paying the rent. We also have 2 classic autos, that we came into the park with. 12 days before our July rent was due, the owner started banging on our door, screaming at my husband, up in face, spitting and shaking his finger, that we needed to move because we were not abiding by the rules. A few minutes later, he called and was screaming, and couldn't be understood. We called the sheriff, thinking they could calm the situation. After the 1st visit with the deputy, he agreed it was a civil matter as our rent was paid for the next 12 days. When the deputy returned he said the owner was insisting we leave the property. Threatened to arrest us for trespass if we didn't agree to leave the property and gave us two hours. Received $54 refund. Rude workers, internet is sketchy, at best. read more

For starters, upon check in I was asked if I was a veteran and if I had proof. When I produced that, I was given a, "Thank you for your service" and a discount ... and then a cookie! So I was touched and 'sold' at the get go. But the grounds are nice with trees and shade. The spacing of the pull-through sites is such that you are not right on top of each other. The WiFi was okay and the people are nice. Close to freeways. If you are a vet you get a discount on the goodies in the store too. We were travelling with a 35' 5th wheel in tow. read more
