Normally when I am planning to food shop here I know I am going to buy a lot, so I do my around…read moreabout looking, eat lunch then buy the meats, poultry and such.. Well this time I brought hubby...and not my son and hubby wanted to get the meat and such first, then eat and then walk around.. I'm like you sure??!! cuz I know... but he was sure, he got this !! So 1 cow heart, 5 lbs of chicken wings, 2 large smoked cow bones, 1 turkey backbone, 2 turkey wings, 1 neck, 1lb of gizzards, 4lbs of bacon, 3 cornish hens and 6 steaks-- over 70lbs of food--- that he had to huff around that market!! cuz he said he could.. I was very impressed but anyway... 1. Service here is exceptional- I don't buy my meats anywhere else here at the terminal. 2. Best prices and quality for what you need 3. THAT BACON is amazing 4. They also carry other big game meat and I love that the venison is always fresh and makes my venison chili and stew perfect. I've been buying meats and specialty meats here for years, def worth the drive. Plus- 2hrs of free parking with proper validation- just remember what door you came in, cuz thats the door that takes you to the proper elevator in the parking structure.

I stopped at this butcher this am and bought this stuffed pork loin. The line was super short and…read moreI only had to wait a minute. The worker was nice and let me know how she recommended cooking. I am very excited to eat this for dinner tonight!! They have lots of good other options including some meats I've never tried before so I'm sure I'll be back!

Been to primos a few times and I've always been disappointed. The prices aren't great, but I never…read morefelt cheated because the portion sizes are so massive. I just ordered this Italian hoagie from Dan's and I was happily reminded what it takes to make a great sandwich. It's really all about balance and Dan's gets it. Every element is well balanced and work with every other element. At primos I feel like I'm just chewing into a Italian sub themed hunk of meat. The person at Dan's knows how to make a great sandwich. Every bite is a joy :D Will be back again !

My dining companion argued strenuously that pickles have no place on a hoagie but I ignored him lol. I skipped the mayo tho. Surprisingly Dan takes credit cards and Apple Pay, $5 min. He keeps long hours for such a simple sandwich shop. Dan's used to be a butcher & convenience store, maybe back in 1947. Now the shelves are mostly empty except for chips soda and milk, and the butcher case mostly has coleslaw and deli meats. It's actually kind of depressing if you walk to the back. Next time I'll get a meatball or tuna hoagie. Vegetarian rating: one star, they don't even try.

This review is long overdue. It is very rare that I can comfortably ask my butcher questions about…read moremy needs, sound ignorant but still be treated with respect. I am proud of my cooking but this doesn't mean I have to know every single part of anatomy of the animal. Unfortunately the term 'seasoned butcher' in Philly Italian market means that you will be treated like trash or scoffed if i) you don't have a PhD in butchery, ii) are not Italian or iii) are not a lifetime customer. That is not the case here. The staff always professionally makes sure to accommodate your needs. The prices are seemingly high. You need to realize what you are buying. An animal product's label goes beyond the animal-cut pair. It pertains to the methods of growing, feeding, living and killing and also the the sustainability of the farmer. Local farming is naturally more expensive but gracefully more sustainable. I got my delicious lamb loin for my lamb Wellington at $30 per lb. I am aware of the high cost and it is a natural byproduct of my decision to reduce unsustainable meat consumption. Every cut I've had from here has been delicious, not necessarily in comparison with other places. Bit still, I've had my best dinner parties with meat from primal supplies. It seems that they are also closely tied together with the dining industry community with pop up events with some of the cities best chefs. Not that this has affected me anyhow so far and not sure what to think of this but it feels reassuring to know that the restaurants I trust in town trust this place as well.

No disrespect at all to Heather Thomason, because this really is her brain child. I've loved following her for a few years now and was happy her kickstarter was backed. I really wanted to contribute and fought for it a bit, but it was backed before I made up my mind. I did wrestle with it for a bit, about what package I would get, but I knew it would be logistically hard to support. We walked in and saw a lot of interesting items. Duck Eggs really caught our eye, but we didn't want to carry them around with us. Decided to leave the store, go to ITV for a drink, and come back before they closed at 6:00 PM. Ordered a nice cut of flank steak and the duck eggs. Maybe for a Kangaroo burger later this week? I just love the idea here, where Primal wants to be more interconnected with farms. I'm really into better quality eggs now, for when we make pasta or things like that. Knowing what the animal ate, really helps make a better product when egg is the star.
