Although there is some seating and some shade, there is no grass and not a lot of room to run. Parking is convenient as the park is on a corner so street parking was available when we arrived. This park was ok, but I probably won't come back; the beach is just too close to use this park again.

The trees are everywhere, and they provide the perfect amount of shade for a nice afternoon hike. The best part is that it is extremely dog-friendly and my dogs absolutely LOVE it here! Not only are dogs welcome, but they can roam off-leash as well! It is never super packed and it's such a peaceful trail to get in nature, yet its so close to the city! Parking nearby is usually available, though it gets busier on weekends. I honestly can't say enough good things about Lynn Rip Van Winkle Open Space! This dog park definitely has a small town feel to it- it seems like most of the community members here know each other, and they are usually friendly and inclusive. Interesting note though- on a couple occasions, I've talked with dog owners who suddenly get into politics unprompted and I found that to be a bit awkward lol Most people are good about watching their dogs here and picking up after them, and it seems generally well-maintained.

Unfortunately this dog park has a disproportionate number of inconsiderate owners compared to other parks in the Monterey Bay. Many unfixed, unvaccinated, untrained, and aggressive dogs that will attack or hump your dog repeatedly. I came with a friend last summer and both our dogs picked up a respiratory/eye infection. Because of this, you'll often find people walk their dogs on the track instead of using the dog park. I usually do this unless I recognize the dogs at the park.

Today I had a person upon my arrival warn me that their female was not friendly with other females. If you have to warn someone about your dog then you don't belong in a dog park. Sure enough the dog attacked one of my dogs. If your dog isn't fixed it is not a good idea to bring them to a dog park. The chances of altercations increase. I won't be going back to this park any longer. I'll drive the extra time to go to Gilroy which has a much better quality of non-aggressive dogs.

My pet had allergies that we thought was only food induced. It was because of the Dogwood Staff and careful monitoring/observation did we find my dog also allergic to fresh cut grass. It took us a few stays to find out, but the staff helped us figure out this mystery. After each stay, I opt in to my dog receiving a bath. She smells amazing after, better than the other grooming location I bring her to. I know four other pet parents who were also satisfied with their service and brings their pets here as well. The requirements for your pets is clear and easy to follow. Initially, I was worried about my pet due to hearing horror stories at other boarding locations. BUT DOGWOOD RANCH, I always feel reassured that my pet is at her own vacation with caretakers that care about her. If I can give more than 5 stars I would!
