Later on I'll be reviewing the Castle of to shit. Anyways, this tower is situated near the lake and is in the city near Nestle. Yes the company is from Switzerland. Saw the building too. The tower has some kind of walk way to it, but it was closed when we got to the door. We then took a walk around the tower. There was a cave with water dripping through the top as it was raining when we were there. Also a little area full of yachts. Cute place to meander around. The museum of games is here too.

This…read moreis a 13th Century medieval castle built as a fortress, not a residence, in order to protect the neighboring area. No fancy royal balls were thrown here, the only thing thrown here most likely were large objects from a catapult. From Martigny, you need to walk across the river, out of town, and up into the cliffs. It's a short trek, but worth it. Check out the website for information on visiting times. We went during the off season, but were lucky to catch a demonstration of one of the many catapults they have on display in the courtyard as you enter the castle. There is supposed to be a display of torture devices, and while there were a few, I think that either it was shut down for the season, as we went through the turn style without having to pay, or, it was under renovation. We climbed up the tower (which it appears you typically have to pay for, but for some reason there was no ability to pay - you just walked up at the time), and from the top of the tower is a great view of the region. Also, one of the special surprises was that there is a medieval tavern on site. The food was really good! They also appear to put on shows at the castle during the open season. I would definitely go back.

Up close, the mist is refreshing (and you will get a little wet), which honestly adds to the experience. It's free, easy to access, and perfect for a relaxing walk along Lake Geneva. The views of the water, mountains, and city together are beautiful, especially at night when the fountain is lit up. Great for photos and just soaking in the atmosphere.

It's easy to visit, free, and located in a very open, public space, making it a great stop while exploring the city. It's also a great spot for photos, especially with the UN buildings in the background.

It's not as centrally located, since it's about a 25 minute walk or so from the center of town, but where else in the world can you see a giant broken chair? This is as Instagram of a shot as you can get around here. A must see.

10/9/20 Walking around the city has been a blast. One of the…read morelast times I was here, this area under construction. The photo I am seeing right now looks like the finished product. Walking around this area, I came across a belt maker. I was immediately pegged as an American and sold a wonderful belt I used for many years. It wasn't until I found a belt that a customer at Marriott Courtyard threw in the trash. The belt didn't meet the guests standards anymore, but worked wonders for me. Seeing the picture of this area in Switzerland reminded me of the belt marker I met. I also wondered what it would be like to live in some of these houses with a view of the water. I could see myself on warm days sitting on the balcony drinking San Pellegrino while eatting a Belgian Waffle with pecans and blueberries with a side of cantaloupe bacon and more blueberries. My God, it will be beautiful.
