So I am not a patient of Q Vision but I was considering Dr. Q for RLE surgery. I called with questions about the intraocular lenses they use. Even though it turns out that Dr. Q doesn't perform RLE, the technician I spoke with took time to answer ALL of my questions about different lenses. She took time to understand my situation and she kindly and patiently looked up additional information to share with me. That said, it would be a huge injustice not to post a Yelp review about how fantastic this entire office is. All of the girls who work here are super friendly, funny, and make you feel so welcome. I had a very unfortunate experience with QVision. Sold by all the 5-star reviews, I booked a cataract consultation with them, That was back in June (2023). When I went to the Scottsdale office for the consultation I had a very good impression of the employees and the assistant for the preliminary eye check. I briefly talked to Dr. Qamar and was OK with his curtness, as all I cared about was to put my eyes in experienced hands. I did not want the laser-assisted surgery which is in many studies proven less safe than the traditional one, and Dr. Qamar is among few who offer the traditional surgery. So, I booked mine for the next available date, over 2 months later, after having waited about a month for the initial consultation. The day before the appointment for measurement after not wearing contacts for the entire week, I received the e-paperwork for surgery consent. I was eagerly filling it in when I got to a page, buried in the middle of it, requiring consent for TOTAL ANESTHESIA to dispense local anesthesia. I was flabbergasted! who requires total anesthesia to dispense local anesthesia? for a cataract surgery? But, most of all, why was this NEVER discussed with me and was instead snuck into the consent forms just a few days before the appointment? I was traveling to Phoenix for the surgery, so I didn't get to the paperwork until evening when the office was closed. I called the next day and asked the receptionist to talk to somebody as I was very upset about this and did NOT, for any reason, consent to a total anesthesia, no matter how brief, for a routine surgery requiring only local anesthesia. I am a doctor myself, and I know how you always avoid total anesthesia unless absolutely necessary, and especially at the age of people usually requiring cataract surgery. The receptionist, obviously thinking it was her place to discuss medical details with patients, tried to convince me that it was 'only a minute or so and you won't even know it'. Really? since when is a receptionist qualified to discuss medical details with a patient, whether the patient is a doctor or not? I requested her to cancel all my appointments and to let Dr. Qamar know I was extremely disappointed with such lack of professionalism. First thing you learn - as a doctor - is that you need to discuss EVERY detail with your patients, NEVER surprise them with something that wasn't openly discussed during consultation. Besides being upset at his behavior, I had wasted over three months waiting for the consultation first, and then for surgery, and I was now back to square one, looking for somebody more trustworthy, and having to wait who knows how long again for availability in their schedule. Elizabeth reached out to me shortly after, apologizing profusely and seemingly understanding my frustration, and asking what she could do to make up for it. I told her I could not trust a doctor not disclosing all details of a surgery to his patients and thus I would not be doing the surgery with Dr. Qamar. I told her how upset I was, having wasted over 3 months waiting for it, only to feel that 'betrayed'. She said Dr, Qamar would call to apologize and would try to find a colleague to squeeze me in without another 3-month wait. I was busy getting to my new home and wasn't able to answer the phone when he called, so he left me a voicemail. There was absolutely NO APOLOGY and not even an admission to any wrong doing, just a vague reference to a 'misunderstanding' and 'other possible solutions'. NO, thank you. there was NO misunderstanding, rather a conscious decision to hide important details from a patient until the last minute, when probably most people just give in because they have been waiting for such a long time, and no explanation of why he felt this total anesthesia to be necessary, but never openly discussed it. I find this behavior extremely unprofessional and I am not putting my eyes in the hands of an unprofessional doctor, no matter the 5-star reviews. I just want to stress the fact that I have no complaints about the rest of the office, except the receptionist at the Mesa location who wanted to convince me that 'it's just a few minutes'. All the others were very professional in performing their duties. However, all my plans were disrupted, and I had to cancel a trip as I haven't been able to get my surgery yet. read more

I was considering Lasik surgery for my eyes and I had a consultation with dr. Q about it. He explained to me everything I wanted to know including the surgery procedure and made me feel at ease regarding it (I was really nervous about it). The procedure was only a few minutes long and it wasn't bad at all! Dr. Q was great and my husband will have his Lasik surgery with him as well! November 6, 2019   I have had two cataract surgeries at Q Vision and wanted to commend Dr. Qamar and his staff on the stellar service and care they provided to ensure my positive experience.   Dr. Qamar is  a very accomplished professional.  I appreciated that he was engaged in 100% of the process from beginning to end, his exemplary knowledge, his attention to detail, and his genuine caring nature of my vision and concerns I had. He was always willing to share what he knew and answer any questions. He also demonstrated flexibility when I questioned whether he could explain what he was doing during the surgery because he willingly agreed to do so. Dr. Qamar communicates very well. He walked me through everything and made sure I understood the procedure and felt comfortable about it. Dr. Qamar's integrity and professional ethics were impeccable.  He advised me of a different lens that I would have to pay for and stated that most people don't want to spend that extra money.  He explained that the lens could help with my vision but I shouldn't expect too much as it did not always make a discernible difference.  My husband insisted that we move ahead and try it and I am so grateful that we did.  When the eye patch was removed the following morning, I could see everything and so clearly.   Dr. Qamar said that he was amazed it worked so well.  When I got home, I had a question requiring his input so called him on the number he gave me.  He returned the call quickly and was not at all concerned that I had called him for clarification.   The  staff, both in the Scottsdale office and the Mesa surgical location, all went above and beyond to create a positive experience. Their kindness, professionalism and attention to detail was second to none.   They were quick and flexible with scheduling. They let me know what to expect each step of the way.    Shannon at the Scottsdale office was very friendly, professional, and accommodating.  She discussed what she had gone through and put me at  ease for the  procedure. We need more people like her who care about customer service and interact so proficiently with the customers in today's world.   I was also very impressed with the office manager at the Mesa office.  She was pleasant and very outgoing.  No job was too small for her.  I overheard a phone conversation as I was waiting to be moved, obviously from a disgruntled client. The service and care I received at Q Vision was impeccable. I came in for an initial consultation, and Dr. Q reviewed my options with me. He did a thorough analysis of my eyes, and discovered that I was not a candidate for traditional LASIK, but rather a variation called PRK because my cornea is too thin. Dr. Q did an amazing job of setting expectations that while this is a more painful procedure, it is also safer and gets great results. I decided to move forward, and the service I received from the pre-op, day of operation, and post-op were terrific. No doubt that it was painful, just like Dr. Q told me it would be, but after 4 days my vision normalized and after wearing glasses or contacts for 22 years, I can now see without them!! I had lasik surgery about 5 weeks ago. Unbelievable results. I did opt for the more precise operation which maps the laser to my specific eye instead of my eye glass prescription. Worth the extra charge in my opinion. The staff was friendly and super accommodating, from the receptionist to the nurses and the doctor. Dr. Kumar was wonderful. He was very honest about my potential of being a PRK candidate as I wasn't for traditional Lasik. I give great thanks and praise to Dr. Quamar fo his integrity and professional ethics. I have been wearing glasses from morning to night for the last four years and wanted to have lasik surgery knowing that my prescription was minimal. After a thorough examination, Dr. Quamar said that although I was a good candidate for lasik, he did not think that the correction I needed was sufficient to justify the risks involved. (My prescription is .5/.75) He suggested I take time to see if I can break my unnecessary dependency on my glasses. Any other doctor would have sat me in front of the lazer and taken my money for a surgery I didn't exactly need. I felt awful about wasting his time, but he was only concerned with my well-being. His staff was friendly, and best off all, they don't keep you waiting forever in the lobby. I very highly recommend Qvision for their friendliness and integrity. read more

She convinced me to return to give them an opportunity to make things right. I believe we all have our "off days" every now and then. In that spirit I agreed to go back. And am I ever glad I did! From the first phone call to my post op appointment, they were kind and helpful. They were flexible with my appointment. When I got there, they took me back quickly and explained the procedure and aftercare. Dr. Q was very detailed in the consultation. They took me back and told me step by step what they were doing. I loved that they counted down during the procedure which made me more comfortable to know there was an end in sight. It was a maybe 10 minutes surgery. I did a lot of research before getting lasik. This led me to Q Vision. Dr. Q and staff are amazing. I had no hesitation or concerns before, during or after my lasik. I have 20/15 vision in both eyes. I was completely petrified to get lasik because cutting my eyes never sounded like something I wanted. But I'm glad I did it and would recommend everyone go to Q Vision. In my opinion, Dr. Tariq Qamar of QVISION is the consummate professional. Perhaps not the most endearing but a very straight forward, knowledgeable eye surgeon. He is willing to field questions and answers them in terms a lay person can understand. He performed two cataract surgeries on me (May & Sept of 2019) and did an excellent job! Post-up visits with Dr. Qamar provide reassurance that everything has healed and it gives one personal peace of mind. I would highly recommend Dr. Qamar based on my experience. His office staff is also very efficient and courteous. The gal at the front desk (Shannon) is very customer service oriented and is very receptive to general questions and tries to accommodate appointments based on client schedules. Healthcare is in turmoil but this office and its staff have their act together. Is there a negative? The only thing I can think of is that there is no guest WI-FI in the Scottsdale office or at the surgery center. read more

I recently had a couple of procedures performed by Dr. Qamar at Q Vision.The first was PTK surgery for both corneas followed 4 months later by cataract surgery on both eyes. Needless to say I was concerned about any surgery to the eyes. All 4 surgeries went extremely well. I never felt rushed or hassled at any of my numerous appointments or surgeries. The actual surgeries were well organized and moved along in an orderly manner. Not once did I encounter any staff member that was anything less than professional. I had PRK surgery last week and could not be happier with my experience at QVision. Dr. Qamar was so good about explaining exactly what to expect, what he would be doing and why he recommended PRK over Lasik for my vision problems. On the day of the surgery his staff was amazing. I never felt uneasy or nervous because they explained everything they were doing and what was coming next. They were very thorough with the measurements of my eye and making sure they had good pictures for the surgery. My wife and I have enjoyed the care of Dr. Qamar and his staff at QVision for the past 14 years. Louise is a health care professional and I am a nit picking engineer. We could not be more pleased with the care that we have received. I had serious eye problems before moving to Arizona and wanted to be seen by a doctor with the highest skills. Dr. Q has monitored my retinal issues with in depth exams. When I started having cataract issues he advised a conservative approach before resorting to surgery. In 2016 I had cataract surgery and my vision post surgery was the best in my life. Facilities and staff are great. This year my right eye started to get blurry due to a common clouding of the capsule. My appointment was on a Monday and I could only read the top line on the eye chart. On Thursday I had YAG laser surgery and the vision is now 20/20. I was only in the surgery center less than an hour total. Louise and I give our highest recommendation. Skills, bedside manner, conservative, staff and facilities are way better than the robo care that is becoming common in health care today. read more
