The work crew stopped here for lunch. Out of 4 orders. None were correct. It took 45 minutes to get the food.... finally the meat was right but the sides were still wrong. We just gave up. Had to get back to work. The fish was the only good thing. The sandwich and tri tip were thrown away. The food was drowned in sauce and way too hot. Nothing was pulled off the grill. It was clearly microwaved. The total was $90 and approximately $80 worth of food was thrown away. On the way back to work the co workers are still complaining. Stopped by here for the 2nd time yesterday. First time had the ribs, this time tried the fried catfish. Ribs were excellent, nice and smoky, meaty and tender. Love the bbq sauce. The catfish was so good too, three big pieces with a crispy cornmeal crust. The sides are good too but they come in small styrofoam containers that could be bigger. I felt like a barely got a taste of the collard greens. Otherwise, would definitely recommend I'll be back for sure. read more

I have been coming here off and on now for about 7 years because I met the owners wife at bingo and she told me about their restaurant. I love bbq and hot links are a favorite. I have noticed in the last year or two that the food quality and accuracy of my simple order has slipped. At first I thought maybe they were busy and forgot what I ordered for my side dish because the employees seemed new. I am beginning to think they just don't care any more and will either not put it in the bag or just give you something random. Even the hot link sandwich I got today had almost no bbq sauce and the links were definitely 2 different brands/types as well as cold even though I just ordered it. Chicken: 3/5 Chicken was seasoned well, but it was much to dry. It was brittle dry on the edges and meaty dry toward the center. Was not my favorite meat. Tri-Tip: 4/5 The Tri-Tip had great flavor, the smoke ring was micro thin but there none the less. It was super tender and some care was taken to carve it. I will definitely be back for mor of that. Sauce: 2/5. Tasted like it was store bought. nothing exciting. Baked Beans: 2/5 Tasted liked canned beans with extra brown sugar. Greens: 3/5 Greens and cabbage mixed, more cabbage than green, in my cup. Flavor was there but not robust. Veggies were overly tender but plentiful. Overall fulfilling, guaranteed to feed 2. It was the first time my bf and I have been here after driving by it so many times for many years. I must say, I am so glad we finally made a stop here. We got the fish plate - shrimp and fish - and the bbq plate - tri tip, chick, 2ribs and hot links. Plus wheat bread, baked beans and potato salad. Really bbq places serve you bread! Our to-go containers were filled to the brim - they had to put rubber bands on them to keep them closed. Besides the serving sizes being well worth the trip and the price (which isn't expensive actually, at all, for some good bbq!). It's a great value. The fried fish was flaky and moist and the batter was thin, crispy and well seasoned. I honestly hate when fish is overly coated. You lose the flavor of the fish! The shrimp were equally a coated in deliciousness. The tri tip was just right on the moisture and flavor. The bbq chick was juicy and had that nice but mellow smoky flavor. The hot links were... hot. Just how I like them - good flavor and a little after burn to remind me I'm alive! The two ribs were huge, flavorful and delicious. They put on a good portion of smoky sweet spicy BBQ sauce to their sammies so if you don't like sauce you had better tell them. The place is a total dive with only two tables for 8 people in the tiny joint, so be prepared to get your eats togo. My only complaint would be that sammies come with a side of potato salad and even though I ordered two sammies I only received one side. I was very excited to find my new bbq place close to home since I eat bbq 3-4 times a week. The menu on Yelp showed 3 meat plate comes with 2 sides and bread. It lists $16.40 as the cost. I was told $25 at the pickup window and we reviewed the meal in the bag. I gave the gentleman $40. He told me he had limited change and I accepted $11 after offering a $4 tip. When I went home I was very disappointed I was charged that much. I have attempted to reach them by phone to see if they are willing to give me the difference. The mailbox is full. If they reply to my post and offer me the difference I will happily remove this review but for now I'm not sure why it happened and I was thinking about it all night because I was disappointed in myself for not inquiring about the prices prior. Am not sure if they overcharged me or if the price has gone up. It's possible the price has gone that high when you consider how much meat prices have gone up lately. read more
