This takes me to "812 Grill" which has slowly gained a small cult following through social media since opening back in mid-2024. Located in a large outdoor strip mall on busy Watt Ave in North Highlands, 812 Grill is tucked smack dab in between Freedom Park Dr and Karl Dr. Parking was easy to find as there aren't a whole lot of businesses close to where they are located. I came here during the afternoon on Sunday 1/18/2026 at around 4:30pm. For those wondering, they are open for business Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-9pm and closed on Monday. You also have the option of placing your order online for pickup or delivery (DoorDash, Uber Eats, & Postmates). Since I did neither, I ordered my food the old fashioned way and that was at the ordering station area of the truck. I went with what was arguably their most popular item, the "Chicken Shawarma". They carry these in chicken as well as beef while you can also opt fora complete meal with fries. In addition to the Shawarma, they also specialize in a Halal-style cheeseburger as well as raptor fries (available in chicken or beef), wings, chopped cheese, and several lemonade flavors. And when my shawarma was ready, the pager they provide you sets off a chirping beep. Total time it took from when I ordered to when I got my food was about 10 minutes. After making the 15-minute drive back home, I unwrapped this thing and was ready to judge how good this was. As you can see from the photo, the size of this thing is massive as it is roughly about a foot long. And after the first bite, I enjoyed the seasoned and tender pieces of grilled chicken as they definitely did not disappoint. This wrap also included lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and the signature sauce. The only reason for a deduction in the rating is that it was a little soggy which probably tastes a LOT better as soon as it is handed to you but nonetheless, it was above average. All in all, "812 Grill" was well worth the price and at $11.99 for a ton of food, you can't go wrong. The young man that took my order was polite while the truck was easy to identify, even from busy Watt Ave. With excellent tasting food, reasonable prices, above average service, and generous hours of operation, I am giving 812 Grill a respectable four star rating.

My ongoing quest to find the best Carne Asada Burrito in the area has landed me at a very good…read morespot-I found myself at the food truck Tacos El Aguacatero on Northgate Boulevard. I have a pretty long history with this truck as I've been here many times, usually after doing some shopping at a local Mexican grocery store in the area,I would stop at this truck on the way home to grab something amazing they were making. This truck is located in a real tough spot in the city to thrive,as there are many taco trucks and taquerias in the area,so the fact that this spot continues to do well after all this time is a statement of how good their food truly is. On this particular trip I decided to go with a Carne Asada Super Burrito($14.75)-it comes with cheese, onions, cilantro, whole beans, guacamole and sour cream-I asked for the rice for my burrito on the side as usual. We also ordered a Taco Combo plate($14.00) featuring 2 tacos of Al Pastor and a side of rice and beans. What I've always like about this food truck is two things-1st the quality of meat, their Al Pastor to me ranks as one of the highest in taste quality in the area-I've had it in the past on their tortas-my gosh-it's so tasty. The second thing that always draws me back to this truck is not sure how to say this any other way than to say-they make their burritos so fat-they are heavy-I know when I go there I'm going to get a real meal-sometimes that's all you want and it for sure gets me coming back here. I laughed at how they prepared my rice on the side but hey beggars can't be choosers but once I dug Into it,their rice was bomb-so tasty-one of the best so far I've found in Sacramento-great flavor. Tacos were solid-when you start with that great meat of Al Pastor it's hard to go wrong and they didn't-I enjoyed them thoroughly. In closing-if you ever find yourself on Northgate and want to try a solid food truck and not sure which one to try-I'd recommend Tacos El Aguacatero-they have never steered me wrong-straight delicious food. PS-They are located in the same shopping center where the old Ricos Pizza used to be,so lots of spaces for parking.

Yummy chicken wings!…read more Had a chance to try James' Chicken Wings and Fries last night. It was to my understanding that these wings won the Golden Chicken Award at the Reno Wingfest and I can see (or rather, "taste") why! The wings were delicious, moist and flavorful, seasoned just right to perfection. $10 gives you six pieces of wings with lots of fries. He also gave me a teaser sampling of his Mac & Cheesy - 4 cheeses blended together and had me drooling for more! I suppose the $7 serving is shareable but who'd want to share! Get your own! LoL So delicious! I also had a taste of the Cheesy Garlic and Fries as well. Chicken with garlic and melted cheddar cheese that's a Truck favorite. Love at first bite... and second, and wish I had a third! I forgot I was mooching off my friend's meal! ahh! I could use a little more delicious in my day since I didn't have anything to eat since last night and Unforgettable Food Truck certainly delivered tonight! Find Unforgettable Food Truck at Cheers Sports Bar Friday and Saturday nights you'll see "Jimmy Earl's" truck parked right outside Cheers. He arrived around 5:00p and not sure what time he stays till. He will come around inside passing out menus and you can order from there. The food took awhile to come but the wait was worth it. So please don't interrupt me while I'm ignoring you... I'm just enjoying my chicken wings! Review #0741

We started with green beans, black eye peas with 'hocks' over rice, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese was the hit for the kids as there were several different cheeses on there to hit the pallette. Then we went to the bbq. We had a sampler of carnitas, spare ribs, baby backs and chicken. Amazing taste and smoke flavor. No fried chicken today but I'm told that's the hit. Will have to hit up James and the truck for fried chicken next time we're in the area. I recommend this place. I understand James caters as well so call him to find out his wide array of culinary skills (and bbq and fried chicken). You will not be disappointed!

Everything was seamless. When I attempted to make a pleasantry remark during ordering I merely got a stern look in return. OK. Chit chat wasn't part of the ordering process. I had the BBQ brisket burger that came with fries. All of it was utterly delicious and well prepared. It came in a nicely made disposable box. The brisket was so tender and melted like butter, almost, but it was a bit messy to eat. Chunks fell out that I had to pick up to eat. Take lots of napkins on this one! It also had a slaw on it, a nice compliment. The sauce was super tasty. Everyone complimented the fries. They were really good, much better than the fast food variety, except comparable to In-N-Out. The others had the burgers and cheese and really liked them. If you see this food truck around it's a good bet for a filling. hearty BBQ meal.
