The new owners, who used to be regulars sitting behind the bar, are absolutely killing it! You can…read morereally tell they care about the place, the food, and the people who come in. Everything from the sandwiches to the pasta comes in huge portions and tastes amazing. Their happy hour is honestly one of the best around -- great quality beers with plenty to choose from, and they even serve them in ice-cold mugs, which makes such a difference. They also have plenty to choose from, plus solid non-alcoholic options at really good prices. They're doing $3 mimosas for Mother's Day Sunday (hopefully that becomes permanent because that's a steal). Happy hour runs from 3-7 every day except Sunday. One of my favorite parts is the atmosphere. The shaded patio makes it comfortable even during the heat, and the whole place has this cozy backyard vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The owners are super personable and actually take time to connect with their customers, which makes the experience feel welcoming and genuine. Definitely worth checking out if you want great food, good drinks, and a laid-back spot with people who genuinely care.

So nice to find a vegan restaurant not too far from home…read more I loved the easy menu style. Basically: do you want a small plate or a big plate? Soup? Dessert? Simple. Best part is all the food is delicious. We started with 2 bowls of mung bean w/ mixed vegetable soup. It was a true creamy soup, so I put my spoon down and drank it out of the bowl. Sorry manners? Then ordered 2 large plates of short grain brown rice, kidney beans w/ onion & garlic, baked yam, kabocha & butternut squash w/ garlic, collard greens and kale w/ shiitake mushroom sauce, and a mixed salad w/ basil lemon & agave dressing. Everything was very good. My favorites were the kidney beans, the yam combo, and the greens with the basil lemon dressing. We also got a Bahn Mi. Loved that it was really full. I don't like a skimpy Bahn Mi. For dessert, we took home slices of Coconut Pie, Chocolate Pie, Key Lime Pie, and the Himalaya Pie (layered with key lime, strawberries, coconut, and drizzled chocolate). My favorite was the Key Lime Pie -- tart and creamy. Then the Chocolate Pie, which was soft and indulgent. The Himalaya Pie was fun because every bite tasted a little different. The only one I didn't care for was the Coconut Pie because the texture was a bit hard from the coconut fat. One of the best things about this place is that they change things up based on what's seasonal. We travel with our dogs and called ahead to ask about outdoor seating. They don't officially have patio seating, but they kindly pulled a table outside for the two of us. They accommodate well-behaved dogs, and there was a great overhang for shade. We felt very comfortable sitting out there, so don't be shy about asking if you're traveling with your pooches. I briefly saw the inside and it was neat and well organized. I also saw someone bring their own container, which I loved. Definitely a spot we'll return to.

I was headed to the State Fair at Cal Expo for an evening concert and Firehouse sounded good for…read moredinner. It's the closest out of two locations in the Sac. area to Cal Expo. Firehouse's footprint seems to be shrinking a bit these days with a few store closures here & there. So, good to know there's still some dinosaurs still around, lol. This store happens to be right next door to a much busier Chipotle restaurant. I ordered my sleeper menu favorite, the Jamaican Jerk Turkey, large. It's a steamed hot sandwich. Good size. Could likely make 2 meals for all but the biggest of eaters (me), idk? But, a large by itself will set you back now $18.50 w/ tax. Ouchie. And you'll have to shell out a few more bucks on top to make it a combo meal. Essentially obliterating a $20 bill. Chock that up to inflation I suppose? Nearly $20 is about the absolute ceiling of what I'd be willing to pay just about anyplace else for a similar sandwich/meal. Especially considering you can get nearly a multi-course meal at a sitdown restaurant for about the same price (think Applebee's or BJ's Brewhouse as examples). Service was fine here and my sandwich tasted great. The open beverage fountains at Firehouse are among the best in the casual food industry with multiple choices from a higher-tech dispensing machine. Consider signing up for Firehouse's rewards program to build points towards free food and for the occasional perk. It's a winner.

Funny thing about Firehouse Subs-I don't come here too often but when I do-I always wonder why I…read morewait so long between visits....Well let me tell ya how 1 of my recent visits to Firehouse Subs recently went in Natomas on Truxel Road. Well a fun little hobby of mine is to enjoy participating in birthday freebies that casual dining places like Firehouse Subs offer, but some do come with qualifications-this establishment being one of those and the basic requirements is you have to make at least a $1 purchase 6 months before your birthday and earlier than 7 days before your birthday to qualify for a free medium sub of choice. So it was getting close and I realized I hadn't made a purchase to qualify so after searching the app to find a $1 purchase I realized I was actually kinda hungry so I decided to buy a kids combo for $4.99 and I went with a meatball sandwich. The combo comes with choice of drink or bottled water-I went with water and I think a cookie but I upgraded to the brownie for an additional $1. I ordered from the parking lot so I just walked in and with 4 minutes I had my food was ready. Parking at this location is kinda hectic while also being convenient as they share a lot with many popular businesses so it can get crazy in there but there are so many spots-it balances out. The lobby was nice and clean-plenty of seats-they have my favorite type of soda machine-the one that looks vintage but with the touch screen with the crazy amount of flavor options for your soda-immediately got me thinking " why did I get a bottled water?" I totally forgot they had a hot sauce bar-that used to be one of my favorite things about Firehouse-as a true chili-head,being able to try the different hot sauces was something I always enjoyed. Now let's talk about the food- The brownie was terrible-did not enjoy this at all-in fact I couldn't even finish it-tasted bad and for sure wasn't worth a calorie past the 1st bite-so total dud. The mini sandwich I got was the meatball sub-basically a meatball covered in melted cheese and marinara sauce.I don't know if I could've eaten than thing any faster-I enjoyed it so much-my initial thought was "what was I thinking getting a mini of something so delicious"I wanted more -it was so good-I don't have any critiques-it was super yummy-didn't even need any hot sauces-I really enjoyed it. In closing-mission accomplished-This visit qualified me for the birthday freebie in the future and I honestly enjoyed my little mini treat from Firehouse-I will for sure report at a later date how the birthday freebie experience went-but I'm thinking based on this experience,it's going to be great-Stay Tuned.

We've officially found a new Wednesday date night spot!…read more Every week we drive up to Sacramento while our daughter is at Rio Tennis Academy for a couple hours, and it's become our little tradition to try local spots. Tonight we checked out Burger Bros and WOW... so good. I ordered the Deuce burger with pickles, lettuce, and grilled onions--absolutely delicious. The fries were just as good (honestly, a huge portion... I couldn't even finish them). I also tried their root beer, and it wasn't your typical chain soda--it had a unique flavor and was really good (and that's saying a lot because we rarely drink soda). What I thought was really cool is that during the day it's a breakfast spot, and at 5 PM it switches over to burgers. The owner was super chill, friendly, and really attentive. We ordered at a kiosk, but he still came by, brought our drinks, and made sure we were taken care of. You can tell he cares about the experience. There was a steady flow of people coming in and out, and it looked like a lot of regulars were ordering ahead on the app--which is always a good sign. Price-wise, I paid about $15 for a burger, fries, and a drink, which felt totally reasonable for the quality and portion size. Now, for full honesty--my husband (who is VERY critical about burgers ) said his was good but a little too cheesy for his taste and gave it a 4/10. Meanwhile, my daughter LOVED hers and couldn't stop eating... until she hit the same wall I did with the fries being too much! As for me? Easy 5 stars. Great food, great vibe, and definitely worth adding to your Sacramento food rotation.

Very inconstant, meaning this place opens when its convivence. Surprise they were actually open On Monday when we were hungry and had a craving for some burgers. Door was shut and lights off the last few time we stopped by... -FOOD: BRO's Double Dutch: was actually very good. Meat was seasoned and smashed to perfection. It was good. We got sucker into upgrading to "DELUXE" on the burgers...sounds good, but the lettuce they use is WACK. Leafy green mix don't belong in a burger, need some ice burg to make it right. Not sure what else was the difference. I guess I just like a good old fashion, hella smashed meats, grill onion, pickle and ketchup burger. -The FRIES: yUUmmMMYYyy...me and wifey ate the whole basket. figure licking good. Very well season and extra crispy... -Service; was actually surprisingly excellent. Waitresses were chill and welcoming. Checked up on our table and brought food and drinks with a smile. Service definitely felt a step above the norm in a table service fast food location. -Finale thoughts: I like smash burgers and this place is good. Convenient location is also a plus..LOL... -On the real: Food and service is good. Check it out if you're a burger eating kind of person.
