This is a must see if you are in the area. Me and my boyfriend went as a detour down Route 66 and let me tell you how worth it it was. Privately owned and how cool did that alone make it worth the while. The owner gave us an amazing tour with great enthusiasm that keeps you interested and interactive. Knew the history in and our (we took the history tour) and even knew past residents of the castle. We want to go back! It was an amazing experience. We were with a small group of about 12 which was a perfect size for us! Must see!

My group was pretty disappointed that we only got to see the basement, tunnel, theater, and dormitory.

Smallin Civil War Cave - June 2023

Smallin Civil War Cave

Review of Smallin Civil War Cave Tour: We attended the…read moreSmallin Civil War Cave tour today and were unfortunately very disappointed. Upon arrival, we were told the first tour would begin at 10:00 a.m., but it did not actually leave until 10:20 a.m. because the group had to wait for late arrivals. Once they arrived, the tour was delayed further so they could return to their cars to get coats. The tour itself was expected to last one hour, but it extended to over an hour and a half due to frequent stops and off-topic discussions. Very little time was spent covering the actual history of the cave or its Civil War significance, which is the primary reason we chose this tour. Instead, the guide spoke extensively about working as a park ranger in New Mexico for the federal government, Roswell, and other caves in other states. While this may be interesting in a different setting, it felt unrelated and distracting given the advertised focus of this tour. Additionally, the guide stated he would not take photos for guests using their phones, explaining that a phone could go into the water. At the time, we were on a stable walkway, and this restriction felt unnecessary. Overall, the experience did not deliver on the Civil War history advertised, and the lack of focus, delays, and extended runtime made the tour frustrating. It was not worth the $33.95 per person for the two of us. We would not choose to attend again and would not recommend it to visitors seeking an educational Civil War-focused cave tour.

We wanted to see some of the nice caves/caverns in MO. Have to say, this one was a disappointment…read more Not very big, not very interesting, almost no formations. Our guide, Levi, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and provided a lot of history and information about the cave and the area. He did a great job. If you can't handle a lot of stairs or inclines, this cave would suit you, as the walk is short and mostly flat. However, for the $29/person entrance fee, it's just not worth it. Most every other cave/cavern in the area is better. For maybe $19/person, it would be worth the stop.

Since moving to Springfield five years ago for college, I've seen it grow from a relatively unsafe (and generally un-fun) place to hang out to one of Queen City's most successfully revamped neighborhoods. What I personally love about Commercial Street is the almost magical sense of history that exists down there. From a renovated firehouse, to a long line of brick buildings in various states of repair, to the ol' footbridge (I wouldn't recommend setting foot on the other side of the latter, just FYI), everything on this block had a serious sense of purpose at one point in time. A local historian could go on about it much more than I could, but I do know that it used to be where Springfield's original train station was back when everything was all sepia-toned. The best reasons to visit what myself and friends call C-Street today are for the restaurants, cafés and miscellaneous eateries old and new; they sit next door to each other despite some being incredibly diverse and others being classically American. Also, the scattering of small barbers, antique shops and modern marketing firms is neat to see as well. While the blocks immediately surrounding C-Street are still a little less than safe after dark, the street itself is now a place I enjoy being at any hour of the day or evening. Despite what you may hear from locals who still think C-Street is the C-Street of 2010, 2014 C-Street is a great place to be and it's getting better by the month. I dig it. You should too.

Tour is very well organized. The Bear Creek Winery is in an amazing location with great views from the deck. Driver was very friendly although I'd recommend being proactive about asking questions about the area as the tasting and dinner is the focus, this isn't a sightseeing tour per se outside the 4 stops. Dinner was downtown in the new area of Branson and food and service were good but not "gourmet" about what you'd expect as this isn't a foodie tour. You have a choice of chicken, steak, or salmon. Given the reasonable price for the whole experience though, if you are a steak connoisseur I'd skip the steak, not bad at all, but the Salmon and Chicken are in my opinion better options if you are finicky about your steak.

For the price (just under $700) the tour was not worth it. A lot of lights were out during our drive thru at Great Wolf Lodge. We then went through the Joy lights that were pirate themed. Not impressed with either display. At one of the gingerbread stops, our group went to grab some waters/soda, when I informed our driver, she said she had bottled water the whole time. On our way back to our drop off location, we experienced a blown tire. Our driver tried contacting her company and she said no one would answer her. I ended up texting the owner informing him that we were on the side of the road with a flat and no one would answer to help her. I received no response but moments after the texts were sent, our driver received a phone call. My husband and brother in law ended up changing the tire so we could be on our way. Our driver told us the owner would be in contact to "take care of the incident and help she received from our group". A week after the tour, I had to reach out to the company because I did not hear from them. The owner Joe called and had a list of excuses as to why he didn't reach out. He also told me that when he received word of us on the side of the road, he had to step out of a show he was viewing while on vacation with his wife. He told me he fired our driver and she had our contact information. He didn't want to tell me how much he would refund so he didn't insult us. he wanted us to tell him how much we wanted. After discussing with our group, we decided on a reimbursement amount and I texted Joe (the owner). We came upon an amount by saving someone from changing the tire and also not missing our driver's second tour that evening. My second text was to confirm he could just refund my credit card and not mail a check and he said yes. Another week goes by with no credit card refund. I texted the owner again and he finally says he can't refund us the amount we decided on but could give us half of what we requested. He'd also refund us our credit card fee. When I asked if he had my card info, he said yes from our initial registration. Ironic that he now has my info but didn't when it came time to reach out to us initially. If you do utilize this company, hopefully everything goes smoothly so you don't have to deal with the owner to settle things. Good luck!
