Well I've left a review of the Louvre Museum so my review of the Pyramid will be of just that, the outside structure that's part of the entire palace but most people use the Pyramid as a photo piece to many of the pictures they take. Understand the entire museum used to be a palace, very Game of Thrones type so as you can imagine its huge, several blocks in depth, deep and length. The Pyramid portion is truly a marvel and beautiful structure, at night it shines like a diamond and makes for great photos. During the day you appreciate the detail and construction not only of the building but the surrounding sections of the palace. But when we missed our tour to Versailles we decided to walk to the Pyramids. The Louvre Pyramid is a large Pyramid in 1989, considering it was built and opened in 1989, it is quite a modern, cool building, being a large pyramid made out of metal and glass. It serves as the main enterence to the museum, so you do have to queue here, but after that you will have to go down a lift and queue again to enter the museum, which I dislike as the system doesn't seem to be handled very well, meaning you could end up spending hours queuing, and for a first time visitor, or tourist, it could be misleading and end up spending the whole day just to enter the museum, hope to many paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci, and the famous Mona Lisa. There are also 2 smaller pyramids, very similar to this one around the main pyramid, one is The Carrousel du Louvre, a very nice, cool shopping center with access through the main pyramid, featuring a Starbucks Coffee, Bose and Apple Store. The staff did seem okay here, they seemed quite quick, but they had to to keep the queue moving, the lift was rather unusual and cool, and seemed more of a large moving pavement, operated by a member of staff, it did seem quite big to overload it with people and those with wheelchairs and prams. The toilets here are also a disaster, with the only disabled toilets being in the women's bathroom, and the staff inside once going through security seeming really poor and inside, some areas didn't seem as nice as you would expect. Overall, this is a nice building but sadly due to multiple queuing systems, the issue with toilets and the toilets being very dirty and the staff that work here, as well as a confusing layout inside, I sadly feel this landmark hasn't earned enough to earn over 2 stars. read more

I'm not that into art to go into the Louvre. However, I had the pleasure of staying across the river from the Louvre in a St. Germain apartment for work. I would stroll through here around sunset and on my way to places. The juxtaposition of this modern structure amid all the historic building that surrounds it is gorgeous! Plus I love going on the bridge to go see it and passing all the locks. It makes me think of all the memories people made around this area. Love it! read more

When this thing was erected I was firmly on the wtf why team, but having been there, I understand now. From the outside, it really does look out of place. Putting such a modern piece of art outside a museum that contains nothing of the sort, and is such a classically old and grand building just seems wrong. It just doesn't fit. However, once I entered, it was very cool. It's a fun way to enter a museum, and once you've taken the escalator down, it's so cool to do this massive space lit up with natural light. I suspect this is the point? And over the main area of French sculpture is one of the smaller pyramids. This was even cooler. The natural light gave me the illusion that I was walking around outside exploring the statues. I'm not sure what's worse: having the pyramids or not, but experiencing it does help you understand. read more

As a New Yorker, I understand the tourist-trap situation. Hundreds of people, pestering street vendors, lines, cheesy pyramid-in-hand selfies, etc. That's why we invested in the museum pass, skipped the lines, and visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon. Even without skipping ahead, the lines were definitely short and looked like they were moving smoothly. You do have to watch out for the mini-mob of street vendors trying to push the very same keychain over and over, and the slew of "I'M HOLDING UP THE PYRAMIDS!" photos. It's a museum, so if you're not 'into' museums, you may as well get your pyramid selfie and leave. I, however, LOVE museums, and MUST read every single thing I walk by. My poor BF had to walk through two entire wings of the museum with me while I stopped at every piece, I'm sincerely sorry (worth it!). A warning though: the museum is temperature controlled, so it may get a bit hot or humid, or cold depending on where you are. Mostly, we were hot (the spring coats and backpacks that weighed a tiny human didn't help much). The Museum is in a great location, a short walk from shopping, the metro, the river, and great greenery. I really cannot think of any reason to miss it if you're event remotely interested in art. read more

Ah yes ... April in Paris. I totally get it! I had an opportunity to visit the Musee du Louvre, home to the Mona Lisa. On approach, there is a long, narrow park which leads to the museum. There is, of course, the pyramid. Along the way, you'll see beautiful landscaping. On this particular day, it was a perfect Spring day. Sunny and pleasant. I was able to enter through the pyramid security check point. A downward-moving escalator guided me to the main atrium, where you can enter the Louvre on your own accord, or opt for an English language audio tour. You can also go shopping at an underground mall. I didn't have an opportunity to see everything I wanted to see as I arrived a half hour prior to closing. I'm looking forward to my return. Taking a picture here is a must-do if you're visiting the museum! Find a good spot and snap away! You'll see all kinds of people posing around the pyramid, it's actually quite fun! It's the Louvre. If you're visiting Paris, you're almost obliged to go. And with the right approach (my approach), you're guaranteed to enjoy yourself. This is probably the most visited museum in the world so you have to be a little sensible to avoid getting swamped by crowds or being stuck in a queue for half a day. The primary entrance is through the giant glass pyramid but there are two other entrances (Richelieu and through the mall). Every entrance has a priority queue for people who have already bought tickets in any shape or form, which includes people with museum passes, who bought their ticket online or bought the ticket at the Louvre earlier in the day. To use this to your advantage you should buy your tickets a day or so beforehand from the official Lourve website (or a suitable musuem pass). This will give you access to the priority queue which is usually much shorter than for those without tickets. Perhaps a 10 minute queue as opposed to an hour or more. If a given priority queue is very long, one of the other lines maybe shorter. Keep in mind that the Richelieu and mall entrances are under cover and preferable if it is raining. Ok great. You're inside. Now what. Well you should be under the glass pyramid. So first see the mona Lisa (follow signs for La Jaconde) and get that out of the way. Get a selfie or whatever (selfie sticks are banned apparently). The crowd will be intense so do it while you're fresh. Once that's out of the way you're free to wander around, and I really do recommend you do just wander around for a bit. The museum is vast and you'll undoubtedly stumble on something interesting. You cannot see the entire museum in one day - take your time and enjoy what you find. Also, gently steer yourself to the collections that interest you. If you're not an art buff I would recommend the Egyptian and Roman wings, and Napoleon III apartments for a real life episode of MTV cribs. Also have a look at the building itself, its a beautiful structure in its own right. There are some placards about major works of art, but generally the Information about each piece is in French and minimal - artist name, work's title, year and a bit of info about where it was sourced. An audioguide or having mobile internet to look up commentary is advised. Art doesn't mean much without context. Keep your ticket on you at all times as you will need to show it again and again as you go to the different wings (sully, richlieu, etc). Have fun. read more

Can this be as iconic as the Louvre? It's quite a spectcle itself even if not. Many people lining up around it as others stand atop the stones farther out making silly optical illusion photos. We quickly scoped out the area before making plans the next day to arrive tip top and early as the sun would peek over and hit the Pyramid. It stands as the centerpiece to the Louvre's courtyard, and even inside the museum itself it creates a beautiful spectrum of light which many were quick to grab a photo with. It's impossible to miss as it is the entrance to the museum. If you're early enough you can weave through to the front and not have to worry about the chaos of a line that may be later. Don't forget to get that silly optical illusion photo too.~ read more

No excuses, if you're anywhere near the area you must come here! Yes, it's crowded and filled with many tourists, but definitely one of the highlights of any trip to Paris. Get a picture and walk around while you're at the Garden of Tulieres. It's something you'll look back on for ages. Just a heads up, this area is always crowded by tourists, so you might not be able to get that one stunning picture. But I do recommend getting one of those cameras where you can get an extended exposure shot. I wish I had done that during my trip here. Also, if you grab a visit Paris pass, there's a shorter line here to get into the Louvre. I'd recommend bypassing the main entrance if you see it. read more

Such an amazing place to get inspired. In the evening you'll be serenaded by the most talented musicians. The music echoes through the square and people are everywhere hanging out relaxing with friends. I was able to bring my leashed dog just be sure that they relieve themselves before you go in. Finally got the chance to visit this original pyramid of Louvre. There was just one copy in the theme park back to my hometwon. When I was a kid, usually visit like to visit than place. It actually bigger than I expected it and there are serval of them around this place. Right under the prramids the Louvre museum. I could thought the glass peek a little inside. It seem like it stored a lot interesting works there. Well, the museum was close because of the terror attack, during my visit. But I think I will pay a visit again next time when I visit Paris again. Around the pyramids got some prefect spots that allow you to stand on, in order to make an amazing photo. I enjoyed seeing this random pyramid popping out above the ground while I was at the Louvre. You very well can't miss it. And you can't really love it or hate it since well, it's there. While I was walking inside the Louvre and as I looked out the window, I noticed the pyramid in the open courtyard and all I wanted to do afterwards, was to just go outside and check it out. It's so randomly placed, but it does add a good conversation piece to one of the uniqueness of the Louvre. If you arrive from the main entrance way into the Louvre, you'll see the pyramid right away. And then you'll notice a lot of people standing on top of the flat white poles on the ground with people posing like they're touching the tip of the pyramid.. there's even a line of people waiting their turn to get on top of the polite have their picture taken. Still, you cannot ignore the beauty of the glass to glass pyramid in front of the majestic beauty of the Louvre's outward design. read more

I am assuming this is about the Glass pyramids outside the Louvre rather than the museum itself. The Pyramids are THE MAIN entrance, but there are a couple others. These are gorgeous to take pictures of and it is synonymous with the Louvre. Out front, you can take pictures, this is where it is always crowded. Even late night, since the lights are nice. What a beautiful museum!!!! Wear some comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to stay a couple of hours or the entire day! Purchase your tickets in advance to save time at the entrance. I visited on a Sunday in late June. We waited about 10 mins to enter as we had pre-purchased our tickets. There are multiple levels of some of the most pristine art work! I was excited to see the Mona Lisa! There are cafes, gift shops, and a restaurant located inside. You can also grab a snack outside of the museum on the park grounds. You will find items such as ice cream, sandwiches, and crepes. After walking around the museum, we sat outside in the park and took a cat nap. This was a great addition to our Paris trip. This museum is definitely worth taking the time to visit. read more

It basically just juts unapologetically out of the middle of one of the courtyards, and is now the main (and subterranean) entrance to the museum. It was a good experience. Expected a lot of tourist, but it wasn't. Just enough to enjoy the time there, that it's not entirely packed. I suggest to go during early to mid June if you want to see each tourist spot. But the Louve was really worth it. This Yelp Louve page evidently is owned by that guy who's face is all over the front page, but Louve really isn't owned by a hairy facial man covering the beautiful pyramid and the arch. Entering the museum you have to pay, it's not that bad if you enjoy museum, I think it's worth it. This place is beautiful and most definitely should be on your list of places to visit when in Paris. Even if you don't want to get in line to visit the museum, the Pyramid alone is a sight that will take your breath away. Not to mention, this is a great place to take memory shots. The Louvre is also oh so close to the gardens which means you can visit two beautiful places with one uber ride.. or whatever means of transportation you're using lol. There are a good amount of tourists in this area and locals just roaming around. It's a pretty lively part of town. I didn't see any of those infamous gals that try to get folks to sign stuff so that was a plus. If you haven't read or heard, stay away from those people.
