A bunch of scam to get sells out front be careful. Get your ticket online. If you get your ticket online you can pick your entrance time zone for a shorter line to get inside. You really need to get yourself five or more hours to fully look at this place. It's absolutely amazing. Expect a good two hour line to see the Mona Lisa up close. read more

If you do not have the time to go inside, then you can just take selfies outside by the pyramid! Just be wary of your surroundings. Perfect for photos before you enter the Louvre. They even have concrete boxes you can stand on in order to take the popular "I'm roughing the Louvre" photos. But beware- men selling replicas of the Louvre and selfie sticks are everywhere. Act like you own the place as you walk by them and they won't bother you. read more

Is it huge, yes! Is it awesome...I would only say it's ok. It is a must see for anyone who visits Paris but be aware of the massive crowds. We were smart and did the museum pass and were early. We rushed to the DaVinci section and were able to see the Mona Lisa unmolested. If you wait, get ready for lines, pushing, and bumping. All in all it is a nice place to visit. I wouldn't rate it as moving but for a place you have to see it is nice. Don't forget to use the elevators. It makes the sight seeing easier. read more

To know how much I dislike (hate) the Louvre is an understatement. It's really the worst place in Paris, honestly. Usually when I've gone to Paris I do , however, stop by the Pyramids. They are lovely, unique, and it's not cutthroat on the grounds as it is in that museum! Yes, the grounds are crowded, but there is no pushing and shoving as there is inside. It's big, it's scary, and if you don't do well in crowds, well, frankly you're going to have to pick some really good times to go visit because there.are.crowds. I didn't go during my first trip to Paris (which was only like a day and a half, and who wants to spend that in line or wandering a giant museum?), but I was determined to check it off my list when I visited in September 2015 since it's just one of those things you do, and I actually happen to like art besides. After some VERY frustrating attempts to find the Paris Pass ticket line, and realizing that THAT was a mile long line, I went and got that Paris Pass elsewhere and returned after a meal and a chance to mentally regroup before attacking the Louvre. I was in Paris with a friend, but we decided to visit the museums of our choice on our own, and that was perfectly fine with me. If you can do this alone, I would recommend it, because you won't have to deal with the stress of keeping track of your party, and you can go at your own pace. I had my Rick Steves audio guide to get me through the major attractions, since I knew I wasn't going to see everything. I also grabbed a map, which was another lifesaver, because this place is seriously that huge, and it's very easy to get lost and overwhelmed. I stopped the audio guide every so often to get pictures, including, of course, the famous Mona Lisa. Yes, she's much smaller than you expect, and is surrounded by a couple dozen people trying to get a better picture than you do. It's all part of the experience. Take it all in, resign yourself to the environmental conditions, and enjoy it for the incredible attraction that it is. read more

Excellent museum with an amazing collection of art and statues. According to our guide, if you stand in front of each piece of art for 30 seconds, it will take you 3 months to finish the entire museum. As expected, the room with the Mona Lisa is the most crowded as everyone pulls out their selfie sticks and gigantic iPads hoping to get a solo shot with the famed painting. Aside from the Mona Lisa, the museum houses a lot of other famous paintings and statues from famous artists such as Michelangelo. They also have the statue that inspired the Nike logo. I could spend a full day here. read more

I am a professional artist in the US. This is my first time in Paris. I planned my entire day here knowing that one day in the museum was not enough time to see it all. I was right. I barely scratched the surface. There is soooo much. I read somewhere that if I were to look at each work of art for 30 seconds, it would take 8 months to see it all. As a result I had to rush through the only floor I had time to see, the first floor. I love this place. I will return. read more

As a tourist, walking through the parks and arriving at the pyramid is hard to beat. It wasn't overly crowded when we were there, and it's hard not to get lost in the beauty and history all around you. There's something surreal about walking out of here and seeing Notre Dame in the distance with the river boats and beautiful architecture surrounding you in all directions. Note: The watercolor painter outside the Louvre on the bridge has the nicest street art I've ever encountered. We regretted not buying more after we came back home. (You'll pay more for a print in the states than the real thing right outside the Louvre....crazy.) read more

It's obvious if you're going to the Louvre, you'll run into its pyramid. You'll also be among a tremendous crowd of tourists all trying to take the same clichéd picture in front of it. It's just a glass pyramid outside the museum, that's it. Where's the spectacle? However, it is nice when it's lit up at night. Like most tourist spots here, you need to be mindful of your personal belongings. There are a lot of pick pockets hanging around here. read more

Beautiful art. Beautiful museum. One of the most famous art museums for a reason. Buy your tickets online to save time. We had a baby and a heavy stroller. Although we were able to access everything, the elevators are very confusing and you have to dig to search for them. We spent a lot of our day searching rather than enjoying the art. And yes, the Mona Lisa is tiny and underwhelming and we could not get within 100 feet of it. Way too crowded. read more

I knew The Louvre was big, but I was unprepared for the enormity. Of course, if you are in a building with a real DaVinci painting, you MUST make time to see the Mona Lisa (which is easily the most crowded area of the museum). But The Louvre is not a one-trick pony - there is a lot to see. Their Egyptian collection is both vast and impressive. This is another place that every visitor to the City of Lights should make time to visit. read more

This place was absolutely amazing. The only sad part was the French jewels section and the Egyptian section is closed on Fridays. We also went to take a pic outside by the pyramid on top and we weren't allowed close to the entrance because we had tickets showing we had already been inside. They had a weird paper exhibit outside marking the original section of the Louvre which we didn't really enjoy. The place is absolutely amazing! I only wish we could've see all of it but it is definitely a must see when in Paris. read more

Bought our tickets to skip the massive lines. Beautiful massive museum. World famous and obviously why. The exhibits are amazing. Can easily spend a week here and not finish it. We had our baby on a stroller with us which added to the confusion of navigating a massive museum because the elevators are hidden and you literally have to search for them to find your way around. Still, this is a must if in Paris and you are into museums. We had a fantastic time here. read more

Definitely a must see when you come to Paris. Fun to take pictures of and just enjoy the scenery but avoid at all costs if you're actually going into the Louvre. Go through the carousel entrance, much shorter lines. Got into the louvre and had tickets in hand after waiting for about 10 minutes. I had visited the louvre in 2004 with my family and absolutely loved it and decided to go back with husband because I was raving of its beauty to find the charm of this place gone , swallowed up with thousands of tourists ! They're so iconic, even if you don't go inside the museum for whatever reason (line too long, not a big art fan), it's well worth coming to see the pyramids at least. They're quite spectacular, and surrounded by the incredible building that used to be a palace before King Louis XIII decided it was too small and built Versailles. Such brilliant architecture to against the backdrop of the Louvre. There is nothing like seeing the rigid Louvre shape against seeing the beautiful glass pyramids. The times I've walked through the courtyard I've always been happy to see them. I also think it's funny to see people trying to take photos of them looking like they are picking up the pyramid. read more

Impressive place and obviously famous. The structure of the pyramid itself is incredible but you will be surrounded by tourists, people selling selfie sticks and everything else imaginable, as well as people asking you to sign political petitions. It's the Louvre so obviously this museum is going to Be awesome! Make sure to go with plenty of energy because this museum requires a lot of walking. We tried to see most of it but didn't get to appreciate all of it so definitely will have to go back!
