They must be buying sub grade beef as I ate the fries and salad, then literally took the steak home and gave it to my dog.

A top spot to enjoy a beverage, with many different spaces to suit any occasion. The hotel includes a number of bar areas and outdoor spaces, perfect for those sunny days and you can even bring your dog. The Greengate Hotel is also home to one of our favourite pub dining spots, the Greengate Terrace. The Greengate Terrace is an elegant and stylish dining space, with the charm of the old building retained. The room is filled with natural light from the many windows and doors that look out to the terrace, which also has plenty of seating. The service is more upmarket than most pubs, with table service on offer, which is a refreshing change from buzzer service you usually see at a pub. There is also a fully stocked bar with some enticing cocktails and a quality wine list, craft beer and premium spirits. The food at Greengate Terrace is also of a high standard, utilising quality produce which is enhanced by the culinary skills of the kitchen staff. The starters are simple with the natural ingredients highlighted. The half dozen Sydney Rock Oysters are plump, with a creamy texture and these were very enjoyable, served fresh with a champagne vinaigrette which provided a nice contrast. There are are a number of small plates that can be shared if you so please. The trio of Mooloolaba grilled butterflied king prawns with butter and herbs were the pick of the day, a good size and possessing a nice charred seafood flavour. For a vegetarian option, the asparagus dish is refreshing. With the asparagus both grilled and shaved, served with slithers of grapefruit, rocket and tonburi (which is known as Japanese field caviar). This dish is prepared super well, with a pretty plating. When ordering mains, there are plenty of pub classics to choose from like fish and chips, pasta, roast chicken breast, slow cooked lamb, pan fried Barramundi and a few different cuts of steak. It is much classier than you often find in a pub. We enjoyed the beautiful Barramundi which had a crispy skin flaky flesh, served with broccolini and a silky kimizu, a Japanese egg and vinegar sauce, similar to bernaise. The Barramundi was simple, yet elegant and perfectly prepared. We also ordered the 5+ Wagyu rump from the specials menu, the steak cooked as ordered at medium rare and it melted in the mouth. This was served with french fries and an incredibly tasty truffle butter. Definitely one of the better steaks we have enjoyed. There are also a range of sides and enticing desserts if you are super hungry. We really enjoyed our visit to the Greengate, it is definitely on our return list. A great spot if you are in the area and worthy of a stop on the way up the coast or on the return. Thanks to the Greengate Terrace for the hospitality and to Vandal and Co for the invite.

I stayed here for a few days to attend a wedding. Definitely did not give a good first impression…read more We went to check-in to our room (we had 2 bookings for 2 rooms), they only found one of the two bookings. They spent about 30 minutes looking for the other booking. Turns out it was a problem with the website we booked with. Anyways, after about 30 minutes of waiting around in the lobby, they just decided to send us to one of the rooms that we booked to wait instead. They told us that they would come up in 15 minutes to give us the keys to the other room. 45 minutes later...no one comes up. We call reception from the room phone, it somehow goes to another department and we had to be redirected ( aka the tags on the phone were wrong). They tell us they will come up shortly with the keys. Another 15 minutes later, we finally get the keys to the other room. A day later, the internet server dies. We call the reception and they say it will be fixed later that day. Later that day, it STILL is not fixed and then they tell us it will be fixed tomorrow. Tomorrow morning, it is still not fixed and they claim they are working on it. Later that night, it is FINALLY fixed. The facilities are pretty nice, rooms are quite spacious and I like how the office area is apart from the beds so one person can work while the other sleeps. They have a wide range of tv channels. Overall, the only issue I had with this hotel was the initial impression and the internet problem, otherwise, the rooms and other amenities are quite impressive.

Today there is a karaoke event going on in the bar in the next room. Add about 2000 starlings outside trying to settle for the night and it's very noisy. Other times I have walked through and it's very quiet. They have some interesting menu items but what is on the website is more extensive than what is actually offered. No veggie nachos, for example. They have beef nachos but you can't take the beef off because it's all mixed together already. I ordered the nachos anyway, figuring I could separate the beef, which I was able to do partially. I liked the dish over all. There was a goodly pile of chips with the beef mixture, guac and sour cream. I would have liked more beans. The tomato bits and jalapeños added flavor. With the addition of a draw of Tooey's it was a tasty meal. The place wasn't busy and the staff wear masks as do customers. There's a sign on the door that says you must be vaccinated to come in, but I don't know if they check it.

In fact I'd go as far as calling it a shopping centre pub, namely because it is pretty close to the local shopping centre, though it isn't strictly a part of it. However, they really didn't have a great selection of beers, and the atmosphere wasn't all the best either. However, the staff were nice.
