We camp with a very large group of over 20 people. This year Sanilac County Parks allowed one person to make group reservations then each party called in and paid. This seemed like a good solution for those of us who camp in large groups and want to be by each other. However, they did not send us individual emails of confirmations. They only sent it to the individual who made the reservation. This has been a stressful year, and I could not remember what my dates were. I called Forester Campground. They told me I was due in on June 27th. When I checked in, the office staff told me I was due until the following day. I was upset, as I was given the wrong information. I asked her if I needed to pay today for the day. She said she would adjust it, since it was her staff that made the error. As I was setting up, the park manager, Steven Pozsgay came and said he "adjusted" our stay, having us leave a day earlier. This would have us leaving a day before our friends. I was very upset. He was not aggressive, but extremely unfriendly. He said if we wanted to stay another day would need to pay for it. Which, I offered when I checked in. I found out he reprimanded his staff for offering to accommodate us since the staff made the error. After serious consideration, time with our friends was more important than his attitude. So we paid for the additional night. When we went to pay, we tried to discuss with the staff why we were upset. In the middle of the conversation, the manager, Steven Pozsgay took his phone out of his pocket, dialed his phone and left the room. Leaving his staff with my sister and myself. His staff told us in his presence that our friend would no longer be able to make group reservations due to this mix up. The entire conversation deflected any responsibility of the park's staff and management. Instead, they chose to attempt to manipulate me into feeling negatable about my handling of the situation. Last I checked, businesses were in the business of making business, not discouraging it. My sister asked what the penalty would be to cancel Labor Day and Halloween weekend. She responded that we would lose all of money we paid. Which is a lie. You are only penalized one day. However, this all could have been avoided had they sent us confirmation emails when we called in to pay. Or, Steven Pozsgay supported his employee's way of handling the situation. Even if he would have come to me and said, she made a mistake. But no, he chose to be abrasive and inflammatory. Every year since Steven Pozsgay has taken over as manager there has been an issue with him. He is abrasive and confrontational. His management skills are poor at best. For over a year, the dump station was not operable, and he refused for campers without full hook up to dump in the full hook up lots that were vacant. If it weren't for the location being on Lake Huron, he would lose considerable amount of business. We will finish our current reservations at Forester Campground but won't schedule any further vacations there. We will only return when Seven Pozsgay is no longer the manager.

I've been playing Huron Shores Golf Course for many years, going all the way back to when it was…read morejust a 9-hole course. Seeing it grow into the beautiful 18-hole layout it is today has been great to watch. The course itself is short but surprisingly challenging, which makes it fun for golfers of every level. The mature trees lining many of the fairways and the well-placed water hazards keep you thinking on almost every shot. It's the kind of course where strategy matters just as much as power. The greens are consistently in excellent condition, some of the best-maintained in the area, and they roll true. It's clear that a lot of pride goes into keeping the course looking great. After the round, the restaurant is a must-stop. The food is excellent, and I'm not exaggerating when I say even the hot dogs are fantastic. They also have a great selection of cold beer, both on tap and bottled. The staff is friendly, fun, and attentive. It is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The owner deserves a lot of credit. He's done a terrific job building the business and clearly cares about the course, the players, and the Port Sanilac community. If you're anywhere near Port Sanilac and looking for a round of golf, Huron Shores is absolutely worth the stop. It's one of those places that keeps you coming back.

I spent three nights in the hotel (which was very nice) in a room with a deck overlooking the golf course--so did enjoy the game vicariously. I ate at two of the three restaurants and attended a wedding and reception. Food was excellent at both restaurants and at the reception. At Emilio's Prime I enjoyed a wonderful beet/field green/goat cheese salad and a very tasty filet mignon Oscar. The crab appeared to have been sautéed instead of just boiled which added another dimension of flavor. The wine list was quite extensive and offered wines at a variety of price levels. They served the sorbet with champagne which I'd never experienced before. I took my yummy lemon meringue pie back to my room. I also ate twice at The Tin Cup where I had a chicken sandwich with a nice rosemary mayo and a Wagyu burger--both were excellent. The buffet at the reception was also very tasty as well as piping hot, nicely presented and never empty. Most impressive throughout my stay was the outstanding service--from the front desk staff to the organizers, servers and bartenders at the restaurants, wedding and reception. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and professional. The bartenders who served me lunch also served drinks at the reception and were delightful young women (their names escape me). Heather in The Tin Cup was very nice, friendly and provided more excellent service. Bonus--while having dinner at Emilio's, I met the man (Michael McMath) who painted the murals throughout the facility. I'm visiting from out of state but if I have the occasion to return to the area will plan to stay and/or eat here again.

My favorite though, is their sister store just around the corner, Crazy Joe's. Again, mostly touristy stuff, but all with a surf/beach-type theme. One of my favorite finds were the SKIM BOARDS. I had not seen them before, but what a hit! The kids (and adults, trust me) LOVED em. I think they are about $15 each and come in several sizes. If you find a wavy day on Lake Huron, you can ride the waves as they hit the beach. Hours of fun. The kids also love (and always beg for, but I have yet to give in!) the sand crabs Crazy Joe sells, with a variety of painted shells. Crazy Joe's is a good stop, especially for kids ~8 - 14 yrs, while walking thru town.

I had really looked forward to coming here on our mini vacation and they did not disappoint. We even had a baby and didnt get the funny looks, just compliments. Nice seating on the veranda they called it, we ordered 2 wine flights quickly and the big sampler of meats, cheese etc. Wine was quick, 2 sweet flights, one with sangrias, one with all wine. I love wine, but only one hit me that i loved, and i was surprised because im not generally a fan of reds. Fool me once it was called. We tried a cider flight, mostly because the coffee infused one intrigued me. I'm so glad i did because the Espresso Royale is a life changer, coffee meets hard cider. I purchased a growler to take back to the city. Looking forward to going back.
