We were looking for musicians to perform for our wedding ceremony and came across Put A String On It. We contacted Daniel for a string quartet to play for 2 hours (ceremony + cocktail hour), he responded promptly and was very professional throughout the whole booking and planning process. We scheduled an online meeting a few weeks prior to our wedding to review songs to play and other logistics which was very helpful. On the day of our wedding, the quartet came on time and was dressed for the occasion. They performed great despite unexpected changes in the weather that day! Our guests enjoyed their performance and we were so grateful to have them play at our wedding. Overall highly recommend considering them for major life vents.

Dan was great!! Easy to work with, easy to communicate! Lovely person, and a really great talent. Thank you for everything

Daniel & the quartet played amazingly well. They exceeded my expectations for sure. Our wedding was so elegant and beautiful the quartet was the cherry on top. Thank you!

This quartet is amazing!! We had a mini-matrimony on October 10th during Covid, which they took very seriously (masks on the entire time they were at venue) and were incredibly respectful and professional. Performance wise, the entire vibe was so special and personal. Their library of pop songs (which is really what we wanted to feature) is extensive, and they easily accommodated our additional song requests. Music is so important to us as a couple, and having people there to perform live-- especially during the crazy time we are living in-- was very meaningful on our big day. Highly recommend!! 10 out of 10 on 10/10!!

I highly recommend Put A String On It! Daniel was so easy to work with and communicated very well. The quartet sounded great at my mother-in-law's memorial service. They went above and beyond to learn new songs that we requested for the service. Thank you for making her memorial service memorable!

Like most of these small theaters there are no assigned seats. The theater is comfortable, every has good seats and the seats were comfortable When entering this very small theater the lady at the front desk was very nice and friendly, confirmed that we had tickets and at one point told everybody that if they had to go to the bathroom that they have a deal with a restaurant/bar about 4 doors away, which people appeared to take advantage of as they let us in about 7:15 for a 7:30 show. Art Shulman, the writer of the play, greeted us in the lobby and was very nice. He later got on stage at the beginning of the play to explain how and why he wrote this play. The street that the theater is on has many restaurants and next time we come we'll probably find a restaurant on the street to eat and/or have a drink. The play itself was okay, two married seniors, their pregnant daughter and her husband. The four of us thought it started kind of slow but did get better after intermission. It was very nice that the actors and writer were available to chat after the play ended.

Her ballet classes are the highlight of my week! From day 1 I walked into the studio, I had a feeling I was on another planet. I saw respectful, well-behaved students, truly inspiring atmosphere. Everyone was so focused and dedicated. Once I started taking classes, I understood why. I'm absolutely in LOVE with her daily classes and only wish I could attend all 7 days a week! Students of different ages, backgrounds, skills drive from remote parts of town, even during rush hour, just to be able to take her one-of-a-kind class. She has this rare talent for navigating students of different levels and pinpointing their needs. Working 7 days/week (!!!), making the schedule so flexible for all of us, - she's truly an inspiration. I'm in the best shape I've ever been! But most importantly, I'm a much happier person BECAUSE of Julia. Bless her soul for loving her job soooo much, and sharing her rare talent with us. If you want your kids to learn discipline, grace, value of hard work and have the Best posture, you must bring them for Julia's classes. I wholeheartedly recommend Julia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we walked on Hollywood Boulevard one couldn't help but be excited as you see the towering "Pantages" sign on the building! In the box office area there was a step and repeat that was packed with people taking photos. They were taking pictures of Alicia Keyes herself! I snapped a quick photo before the staff rushed us away and encouraged us to go in to get our seats. Inside of the lobby I was in love with the architecture. The sweeping staircases, plush rugs and the intricate detailing on the walls. There's even a merchandise area with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The theatre is grandiose and so lovely. I can feel the creativity and the love for entertainment in the air. The stage was huge and the performances were great! Cannot wait to come back for other shows!

The sound in there isn't always great, which is unfortunate. The view is generally good from anywhere! Sound wise, I tend to avoid the upper half of the mezzanine (especially the sides), and under the overhang in the orchestra. For some reason, I tend not to be able to hear clearly what people are saying or singing in those areas. The ushers are helpful in pointing you in the right directions. The bathrooms are clean and the staff members move people through pretty quickly, especially during intermissions. I don't tend to buy drinks at theatres, so I can't comment on that! The merch stand is set up in the lobby and looks well-managed with an efficient flow. Tickets are not cheap at full price (ex. currently up to $200 for a less in-demand show, over $300 for a more in-demand show), but there are ways to get discounts for most shows. I love trying to get 10+ people together and doing group tickets when I can! They have a lower rate. Most shows will also have discounts closer to/during their run, like their Me+3 package. And there's a daily lottery and rush for cheaper tickets too if you have flexibility. The location is a very busy, high traffic part of Hollywood. There are parking lot options around that vary in price, but I like using ParkWhiz to book in advance. I can usually find a lot for $20 or less that way. The Pantages is also right by the Hollywood and Vine metro stop if that is convenient for you. There actually aren't a ton of easy food options around, but there are decent ones. Hollywood Burger & Sandwich Co. across the street is decent and fast and there's also a Shake Shack about a half a block away. If you have time for more of a sit-down meal, Jemma on Vine is great and they do move pretty quickly to serve theatre patrons before shows. Overall, I enjoy going to the Pantages! If the sound was consistently better, I'd give it 5 stars.

The reason for that is simply because I wish so very badly I had found this school sooner and am having a hard time reconciling how much money I threw away paying teachers who just loved listening to the sound of their own voice). I have gone to almost 20 different acting schools both in England and the United States and I can say, with total confidence, that Max Decker at MAD Acting Studio is the most brilliant teacher with whom I have ever had the pleasure of studying. It took one evening in class with Max for me to instantly mourn all the money I realized I had honestly wasted studying under teachers who, at the end of the day, just spent endless hours pontificating nothing more than their love for the sound of their own voice. Teachers who, if they worked as actors at all, had maybe had one or two jobs in their entire "careers" and felt that was enough for them to call themselves teachers. Max has not only worked in this industry a long time and accrued an enviable resume, he really knows how to teach others to do this thing really, really well. He won't blow smoke up your skirt and always say how great you to keep you spending money to stay in his class. He will actually -teach- you to be a better actor. He will call you out on what's getting in your way and offer invaluable, constructive help. He offers a wide range of classes including: * Dramatic improvisation (not going for the joke, but giving you invaluable tools you can use for your scripted work), * Script analysis, and * How to successfully audition and self-tape If you currently find yourself in a class where you feel you're spending a bunch of money to not really learn anything new or, if you're looking for a place that will finally teach you the tools you need to be a better actor, MAD Acting Studio is the place you need to go.
