Warning! - Based on our experience I would recommend you avoid this company at all costs…read more We entered a contract with On Time Restoration on 12/9/21 for water mitigation and repair / rebuild due to water damage sustained in our home in November 2021. We are now one year into this project, and we have yet to have all items completed as billed. We have incomplete work, they have not closed out the claim with our insurance, and we have work performed in a poor workmanlike manner we will have to pay another contractor to repair. Both owners / operators Shawn and Whitney Huff have ignored any attempt to reach them over the last 3 months, since 8/16/22. Multiple emails, voicemails, and even a certified letter without so much as a response. There were several red flags in working with this group starting with lack of communication. We were never, despite multiple requests, provided with a detailed plan for repairs including dates, times and clarity on work happening in our home. There has been continual miss-information and lack of timeliness in responses. As an example, on 5 separate instances over the Summer, Whitney and / or Shawn committed to scheduling work in our home. In all 5 instances that was not complete, and we were provided no communication as to needing to reschedule they ignored any attempt to reach them. Lastly, we are highly concerned with their unprofessional behavior. On multiple occasions delays or concern brought to either's attention was met by hostility and / or finger pointing and excuses. Overall, based on our continued experience, I would recommend you save yourself the time and stress of working with this business. However, if you are unfortunate to work with this company, based on our experience, I would advise you not to pay in advance, get everything in writing with detailed line items for billing and request a detailed timeline in advance. I am attaching 2 photos- one is how our entry way sat for 7 months while waiting on Shawn to schedule repairs. The second is an example of the quality of work performed by this company.

Michaelis

If you happen to find yourself losing your entire freshly finished basement to water, I Highly do…read morenot recommend using Michaelis Corporation for water mitigation. From the very beginning, we were put under pressure. The manager who came to give an estimate told us it was basically "now or never" and that if we didn't make a decision right then, he would leave because he had plenty of other other jobs lined up. When you're dealing with water in your home, that kind of pressure forces you into a rushed decision without really understanding what you're agreeing to. The work that followed did not match what we were told or what we were billed for. The biggest issue is they did not even touch the utility room, which is where the water originated from. According to their own photos, there was no extraction, or drying equipment ever in that room which is something we didn't notice until after we found water pooling under furniture weeks later during putting our basement back together. That alone makes no sense for a mitigation job. They told us they would come back the next day to check moisture levels and water percentages. They never came. Then they told us the same thing again the following days. After multiple excuses, instead of ever coming back, they told us to just shut the equipment off ourselves. They still charged us for 4 days. Not only did we find pooled water still sitting under furniture and items on the floor, mold starting, and damage to drywall and studs. Water had also gone underneath cabinetry and the island, and none of that had been removed or handled. So weird.... that's exactly why I called a mitigation company to catch and prevent. They also left a huge mess in our yard for four days that killed our grass, after telling us they would be back the next morning to clean it up. And this was not just debris from our home. It was trash from brand new equipment they brought in and unboxed at our house. We were charged for retrieving equipment from another job site to come to ours, which clearly did not happen as we watched them bring in new equipment and open it in our yard, then leave the packaging behind. EVERY TIME we called the manager he was rude and would say "I'm working 16 hour days you're gonna have to wait." When we were only holding him to what he said he would do. We were also charged for other services we did not receive, including water extraction (we never had water extracted only drying... "after hours" work that took place around 3:30 in the afternoon, extended run time fees when it was there fault they didn't come back to get their equipment, clean up and debris removal (that they left in our yard, charges for the square footage they never touched, and charged us for full scope mitigation even though they didn't touch an entire room or take out the wood tack strip under the carpet. We were charged for 8 things that did not happen. A year later, we are STILL dealing with the aftermath. What should have been handled correctly the first time has turned into more work, more stress, and even more money out of our pocket! We trusted them during a stressful situation and that was a mistake. I wouldn't consider allowing them to do work in your home, but if you do ask questions, document everything, and do not assume the invoice reflects what actually happened. These people don't care about you, your home or your safety.

Again I implore everyone to avoid this business. If you have time, read the recent indiana Supreme…read moreCourt opinion Safeco Insurance Company and Ramona Wilson v Michaelis Corp. Michaels never listens and is horrible at communicating! In that case, a faulty kitchen device caused a fire and $500,000 of damage to the woman's house. Michaelis was brought in to clean up and was instructed to leave the kitchen area untouched. "Michaelis then demolished the kitchen and discarded the [kitchen device]." Basically ruining the insurance company's only hope of recovering their $500,000. Michaelis got it dismissed on a technicality because third party screwups like this don't make them liable for the faulty kitchen device. Michaelis screwed up and got away with it! Their poor communication when I needed them is further evidence that these guys stink! Avoid them if communication is at all important to you.
