Purity Candy is the best place to get "clear toy candy". I get it every year for my son for Christmas.

I immediately corrected that mistake by buying a ticket the moment I saw the event posted--and then started counting down the days. The concept alone sold me: a ticketed, adults-focused stroll through downtown Carlisle, with participating small businesses offering tastings, experiences, treats, and deals. Sweethearts of all kinds were welcome--couples, besties, gal pals--and dressing in red and pink for Valentine's vibes was strongly encouraged. Say less. Ticketing was super easy, and Georgie Lou's did a fantastic job with pre-event communication, especially via social media. One post in particular deserves a shout-out: a reminder to bring a bag to carry your treats. This is something I absolutely would not have thought about until I was awkwardly shoving sweet treats into my coat pockets. I came prepared with a small reusable shopping bag (pink, obviously), and by the end of the stroll it was completely full of sweets, trinkets, and purchases. Meanwhile, others were struggling with overflowing pockets alongside gloves, hats, maps, and life regrets. Lesson learned. Excellent advice! I found parking around 1pm and headed to Georgie Lou's to check in and grab my materials. The staff were incredibly friendly, checked my name off the list, and sent me on my way with a Map of Hearts, a button identifying me as an official 2026 Sweetheart Stroller, and a small sweet treat to kick things off. I also took some time to explore the shop itself--my first visit--and wow! They have managed to pack an impressive amount of nostalgic goodness into a small space. Total blasts from the past, plus candies I'd never seen before. Super fun shop! From there, the stroll itself was a delight. Georgie Lou's clearly put a lot of care into coordinating participating businesses, and it showed. Most spots offered sweet treats, discounts, or special offerings, but every single business was warm, welcoming, and happy to have folks stopping in. Even though I've done a few downtown Carlisle walk-style events before, I still discovered shops I'd never been in--and every purchase I made that day was from a place I was visiting for the first time. That alone feels like a win. Overall, this was a fantastic way to spend a few hours on a very chilly January Saturday. It got me out of the house, walking downtown, supporting local businesses, and discovering gems I usually zoom past while driving from Point A to Point B. I had such a great time that I jokingly asked if I could pre-register for next year... apparently that's "not a thing yet." Fine. I'll wait. :) This has officially been added to my annual tradition list. Great event, great execution, great vibes. Well done, Georgie Lou's!

Grandpa Joe's Candy Shop is a small chain of specialty candy and confectionary stores that opened…read morein Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2012. It was founded by Christopher Beers. The name of the chain is a reference to Grandpa Joe from Roald Dahl's 1964 children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". After the success of the original 900-square-foot store in Pittsburgh, other locations began to pop up in the surrounding areas. Each one is stocked with over 250 candy bar varieties, nostalgic candies, 250 flavors of old-fashioned glass-bottled sodas, and even novelty gifts. As of this writing, Grandpa Joe's has 21 locations spread out over five states (mainly Pennsylvania and Ohio). My family and I visited the Grandpa Joe's location in Bethlehem (opened October 2019) this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. We came across the storefront as we were exploring Main Street. We really liked the name of the shop as well as all of the decor. The interior was loaded with every conceivable candy variety that you could think of: chocolate bars, jelly beans, gummies, hard candies, gum, fudge, lollipops, taffy, etc. Many of the candies were ones that I haven't seen, or even thought about, in many years. They also had quite a few novelty and gag gifts. My wife and I let our sons pick out a few chocolate candies to take back home. What really impressed me was the large selection of old-fashioned sodas that were in stock. One of my favorite soda brands is "Sioux City", though I often have trouble finding them. Grandpa Joe's had the largest selection of Sioux City sodas that I've ever seen under one roof. I made myself a mixed six-pack to take home. Whether you're looking for your favorite candy bar, hard candies to make "goodie bags", a funny gag gift, or a nostalgic candy that you haven't seen since your childhood, then you need to make a trip to Granda Joe's!
