I repurchased the same one thinking maybe it was a fluke but then the clicker on this one broke. Clean, safe and friendly place to get a piercing in NOLA. Came in right before COVID in February 2020 to get my first ear lobe piercing. Walked in without an appointment and waited about 30 minutes for the next available piercer. The staff were all very friendly. Everything was sanitized and clean. They took the time to explain the aftercare and healing process thoroughly. You might think their prices are high but you want to pay for quality when it comes to putting foreign objects in your body. This is not a time to be stingy or frugal. I paid a piercing fee and for my jewelry. I went with a cubic zirconia stud set in rose gold. Very cute and simple. They have a good selection of starter jewelry including some mardi gras inspired fleur de lis if you want to rep NOLA. They used a needle for my piercing, which I believe is the preferred and more sanitary method compared to a piercing gun that they can't clean completely between clients. I didn't feel a thing. I might have bled for a few seconds but it was minimal. Some soreness and swelling a few days after. They walked me through my aftercare instructions and gave me a small pamphlet that also included helpful information like my piercer's name, size of jewelry and recommended healing time. They also wrote down a few recommendations for piercers in the San Francisco Bay Area that I could follow up with since I was only visiting NOLA. Unfortunately, I was unable to check in with a piercer after the recommended time frame to see if my piercing was healing properly and to downsize my jewelry. Apparently, my ear was very angry for about 12 months. The long post was irritating, and I might be allergic to the rose gold setting. I finally went to my local piercer in San Jose who was able to change out my jewelry and my ears are much happier and on their way to finally healing. My piercer in San Jose knew about Purity Body Arts and also assured me that they are high quality piercers who know what they're doing. Highly recommend for your next piercing. I love my piercings. Monique did an amazing job- I'll preface my review with that. UNNECESSARILY EXPENSIVE! Don't go here. Find more sensible prices! I've been pierced and tattooed before, so I've had my experience with jewelry selection. For the price point on jewelry, I expected more in terms of selection. Everyone was polite and fun to interact with, but I immediately got a feeling of "wow, she's a good sales person" from the receptionist- which should never be the priority. She seemed to get bothered when I asked for jewelry with lower price points (knowing that eventually I'd be switching out from piercing grade, to other metals once my piercings healed and didn't want to waste money). Their jewelry is very overpriced, for stuff that is not even that stylish or fancy. I kept asking for more affordable options and she seemed to be getting exasperated at me, but I'm good at standing up for myself and knew she was trying to up-sell me. Also, why have jewelry in your shop that's "cheaper" in price if you're not going to vouch for it or try to deter people from buying it? I did end up getting one gem-stoned stud for one of my piercings (70 effing dollars) and she seemed to relax and get back to her friendly side after that. The rest of my jewelry was in the $40 range and I could tell she was a bit annoyed for not being able to sell me the $200 jewelry instead. They're very sterile and professional. They give you aftercare instructions and my piercer was amazing! Robin the receptionist was also great, even though she was definitely pushing the more expensive jewelry on me. All in all, amazing experience, but I won't be back and I'd recommend not to go. I found a cheaper spot with NO negative reviews and I'm super upset I didn't find them first. Wider jewelry selection, much friendlier staff, from what I'm reading and I wish I'd gone there. Definite buyer's remorse because I know I'm stuck with ok-looking jewelry that ran me $150 alone for the next 6 months... (sigh). If you feel like you're being sold to, walk away. Getting pierced or tattooed should be a comfortable experience where you and the artist create a relationship. For some reason, most places I have passed over the years have focused on all other body parts when it comes to jewelry & not so much on the ears & I was looking for a new something something for my ear Lots of earrings from which to choose & a wide variety of price points from titanium to solid gold, rhinestones to gem quality stones I found a cute fleur de lis for the top of my ear & then also found a rhinestone tri-design that came home with me. Policy states they must fit the jewelry for you & I'm glad they did - turned out the tri-design needing adjusting to fit into my barbell for a snug, secure fit Walked back to the "procedure" room & my ear got a nice swabbing of alcohol then the new fronts were secured to my existing backs. Easy! Awesomely super nice staff & they even gave me a recommendation about where I might find a better ear selection in SF, over what I'd been seeing. Score! read more

Okay so I just wrote a long and thoughtful review and Yelp decided to delete it. I guess that was a hint to make it shorter. I called at 8:15 to make sure they were still taking walk-ins and when we got there we were greeted with warm smiles. Maggie pierced my septum and Lars walked me through the paperwork. Maggie informed me it would take a few minutes while the equipment was being sterilized. She changed gloves after every step to make sure everything was sanitary. She walked me through the entire process and let me know every time she was doing something. I started laughing uncontrollably due to my anxiety and she let me get it all out before she started. I started coughing as soon as the needle started going through and she immediately let me know that she wasn't proud of the placement and offered to repierce after I took a look at it and had some water. She let me know she was going through the same entrance hole but would come out of a different exit hole so it eased my anxiety. We were all very happy with the result of the repierce (my mother, Maggie, and I). She offered me juice and asked if she could take some pictures after I recouped. When she checked me out she gave me my aftercare card and a complementary travel sized cleaning solution for any instance where I felt I needed to clean it. Overall, it was a great experience and I'm glad Maggie took the time to make sure that I was happy and comfortable and let me know she was sorry for any uncomfortable parts of it. When you pay for something you're not only paying for the service but for the experience as well and it was definitely worth it. Incredibly clean and organized piercing joint in the middle of French Quarter. This is probably the prettiest body art place I have ever seen in my life. The vibe almost reminds me of a spa. I went to change my helix piercing and they were incredibly helpful and nice. Had to go back on yesterday to get my tragus pierced again because I mistakenly hit it and knocked it out. Sabrina pierced me this time and she's so bomb. I love her vibrant personality!! I was looking to get a Monroe piercing and did my research and found this place. I was so glad I picked this establishment out of all the others. The staff was amazing. Best by far!!! Update...... I got my piercing on my birthday which was Halloween. Its doing amazing and I still love it. But I had to go back about 5wks after getting it to change the post. Since the swelling went down the post was too long. The piercer did tell me this when I got it done. I totally understood that it would need to be replaced. What I wasn't expecting was being charged $35 for a smaller post. I understand it wouldn't be free but $35 is as much as they charge to get pierced. I will have to go back one more time and change the post again in a few wks since it's again already sticking out far. Though I absolutely love the piercing how nice the employees are and how clean the shop is this piercing is costing me almost $300. When I came to purity body arts about a month and a half ago, I was looking forward to my nipple piercings. After about a week or two, I realized that one of them has been pierced too shallow. When I came back to get it evaluated, Monique told me that it's "a little off" but here's the thing: neither my initial piercer nor Monique afterwards actually got my nipple fully hard to look at it!! So neither of them saw the full extent of where the piercing is actually sitting!!! My left nipple piercing is a full few millimeters off the tissue when my nipple is erect! And it's not like we're working with a lot of area here! A few millimeters off on a nipple is a huge difference because of how small they are (and mine are quite small!) I was trying very hard during my actual piercing not to look at anything to not freak myself out, but I brought a friend and neither of us can remember clamps being involved! My piercer DIDN'T USE IR EVEN MENTION CLAMPS! In terms of bodily trauma you spend money on, nipple piercings are something you have no room to get wrong! I'll have to have one of them (or both) taken out, let them heal for 3 months, and then do this whole process over again! Neither of the piercers at the front counter were very inviting when I came in either time, and I'm really upset that I just paid 300 (initial piercing + jewelry + tip) for piercings that don't sit the way I need them to. It's inexcusable. I'm frustrated, sad, and I feel dismissed. There was an air of condescension in this place when I walked in, and I should have trusted my gut when I felt that and turned right around. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because the piercing process is very sterile and initially I didn't know anything was wrong -- it was only in retrospect that I've realized something strange happened. Nonetheless, retrospect doesn't minimize a current problem or the infliction of (apparently) needless bodily trauma since it's not like I got what I paid for. read more
