Needing to find a new artist after moving here left me with a Herculean task. Who could I trust to tattoo me? I spent hours searching for a tattoo shop that was not only reputable but also had quality artists who truly cared for their craft. If you are reading this review you know that I found that here. Jacqui and I talked extensively beforehand for my piece and she made me feel as though we had always known each other. She took the time to carefully plan out my piece, even matching it to my previous work done by another artist. Going to the shop was incredibly easy, though do arrive early as parking in New Orleans can be trouble! Her shop was incredibly beautiful. Lovely artwork and flash art adorned the walls and incense filled the air making me feel like I was truly at home. I loved having a shop that I could now go to that didn't look like a medical office, or one of the tourist tattoo destinations. While getting my piece, Jacqui worked quickly but efficiently and made me feel comfortable all the while. I am incredibly grateful to have found this shop and am looking forward to my next visit. We had a group of 10 come to NOLA for a lesbian bachelorette party the weekend of September 9th and I found this tattoo shop happened to be right next to our Airbnb. We originally tried to make an appointment, but most of the group said they didn't want to get tattoos so I didn't follow through with booking. When I first called, the person I spoke with on the phone was AWESOME! Super specific with how group bookings worked, really great customer service, I was sad my group didn't want to go I wanted to give them our business! Then once we arrived, my group changed their minds and decided they wanted tattoos lol. I quickly called the shop and to my surprise they were able to fit all 10 of us in last minute on Sunday the 11th and let me tell you, they did an AMAZING job! We worked with Claire and Coyle, they both busted out all of us in about 4 hours and we are all obsessed with our little tats! The shop was so cute, some of us bought t shirts and hoodies too. And the tats were decently priced! We all got simple line work pieces, either black or red. 10/10 recommend, don't walk run to these amazing artists! Thanks guys! read more

I highly recommend Lucky Dagger tattoo. I went in the other day for a small, fine line tattoo. The ambiance was really great in the shop; I felt a lot less nervous after walking in. Clare, my artist, gave really great and honest input when I asked her about placement, design, etc and provided really great design options, one of which I selected over my own for the tattoo. She was also funny and really easy to talk to; rapport is important to me, and I'm glad Clare was my artist. The tattoo process took less than a minute (again, it was small) but substantially less painful than another small tattoo I'd gotten a few years back (from a different artist and parlor). It could've been because the first tattoo was on my ribs, but I do think that some artists have a more gentle touch than others; I felt as though Clare made a point to ensure the pain was as minimal as possible. 10/10 recommend this shop and artist to others. read more

Getting a new Tatoo is a very personal decision . Lots of things factor in design, placement, style, color and most importantly the artist . After having seen several pieces done by Jacqui Rose at Lucky Dagger, I decided to contact her and inquire about the process in her shop. Easy process done by e-mail, then dropped off a deposit for drawing fee. After approving the drawing an appt. Was set The shop is large with several artists and upon arriving the required paperwork was done and final discussion of placement , colors and details . Then we got down to business and in a short time and at a reasonable price I had just what I wanted - a new traditional eagle on my forearm . The Tatoo looks great , Jacqui Rose was great to work with and the shop is clean comfortable and well organized. I'm confident in giving my recommendation in her skills !! i had the pleasure of having my first tattoo done by april. i had followed her on instagram for about 2 years and had only heard amazing reviews about her from my friends. she is extremely knowledgeable, and funny, and made everything very comfortable! she was super helpful in answering all of the questions that i had beforehand and afterwards. the shop itself it's bright, clean, fun, and super cute! all of the girls were friendly and welcoming. everything about their shop makes the drive from baton rouge to new orleans completely worth it. since my first visit, i recommended the shop to my friend franke who went and got a sailor moon tattoo done by dani, and she LOVES it (as do i)!!! i'm so happy to have found this shop & april, can't wait to see y'all on saturday for my next tattoo! read more

Lucky Dagger is the best parlor in all of New Orleans. I have been tattooed by April multiple times and I always come away astounded by her work. Her style is so unique and I am honored to wear her art. She is always such a good hang when she is working as well. Funny, kind, and a wonderful conversationalist. I have yet to be tattooed by Jacqui but I absolutely love her style. Her unique take on traditional style is beautiful. The shop itself is such an eclectic style with a focus on female empowerment. I love all the art on their walls. It is also located in a very fun part of NOLA, surrounded by great restaurants and bars. I recently moved away from the area but I am going to make it a point to visit NOLA every year just to visit Lucky Dagger Tattoo. read more

This place is amazing for anybody looking to get a well done tattoo. They have multiple artists and each one has their own specific style and while they're very good at their specific style they aren't afraid to be versatile and give you exactly what I want. My personal favorite is April and she has done two of my absolute favorite tattoos that I have. The staff is super friendly and the establishment itself is very nice and comfy. This is one of my favorite places of all time! I have only gotten tattooed by Dani and April, but I know a bunch of people who have gone to the other artists, and there's simply no other shop like this one in New Orleans. My experiences here have been nothing but positive, and the artists are all extremely professional, inclusive, sanitary, and all around super rad people. Unlike some other shops I've been to, this one doesn't feel scary or intimidating, I'd definitely recommend Lucky Dagger if you're looking to get your 1st tattoo or your 50th. Honestly. This is my go to tattoo shop! they have a range of artists that do so many different styles and are so lovely to be around! I think if you are gonna spend hours getting art done on your body liking the people is a must. I feel so comfortable there as a young queer woman which is so nice! Shoutout to Dani for my favorite tattoo ever and being so amazing to talk too! She also fixed an old tattoo I got when I was younger by a very rude male artist! April Jay is spectacular ! She did AWESOME anime pieces on me and she is definitely an artist who loves detailing and I appreciate it ! She is completely great with communicating and making sure her clients are happy and she thinks outside the box when you give her an idea and she makes it happen and it totally makes your tattoo even more great and unique ! As a bartender in NOLA - locals point out my tattoos and know it's an April Jay tattoo ! And I highly recommend her to my clients ! Not only that but the shop itself is pretty cool! I went here for my first tattoo and honestly had no idea what to expect and had zero knowledge on the topic. Even so, Clare took really good care of me. She walked me through what the process would be without skipping detail, allowing me to ask any questions I needed, told me all my options, and even made sure I was comfortable with each step of the tattoo process. She and the rest of the staff were super kind and welcoming, the building was clean and practiced quality hygiene/cleanliness practices. 10/10 would recommend and definitely will be back for many appointments! i followed an amazing artist to lucky dagger and i have got to say the energy this place brings is amazing. Dani is a spectacular artist and she's one of the only people i've felt comfortable with and most of my tattoos are from her! It was a great experience to get tattooed by Jacqui. She was thorough, took her time, and executed exactly what I asked for. I felt comfortable in the shop and the booking process was relatively straightforward and easy. It's also important to mention that I am certain Jacqui would provide a safe place for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ tattoo clients, Jacqui in the past has openly supported House of Tulip (a organization that supports trans and gender nonconforming persons in New Orleans) and has been vocal about anti-racism on social media. I've been eyeing the shop's IG and wanting to get in for a while. Dani was such a gem- making the appointment and deposit was such an easy process. When I arrived the space was super clean and welcoming. Dani was patient while I picked a flash piece and helped me pick a placement that would last & give me the look I was going for! She was professional and so friendly and held just the right amount of conversation. It was my first tattoo in 2 years & her patience extended towards my squirminess at the tail end. Some friends and I were traveling to New Orleans from out of town and wanted to get coordinating tattoos. We found Lucky Dagger online and immediately wanted to support a progressive, woman-owned business. We submitted a request and received an email back pretty quickly. We gave our artist (Clare) some pictures for inspiration and we were so happy with what she designed for us. It was my first tattoo and Clare was mindful of that and super gentle. My friends and I came down here for Friday the 13th and we managed to get in and out of the shop pretty quickly. It was also really great to see that the were being safe and considering the pandemic on a day like that by limiting capacity and making sure people were wearing their masks. I got my very first tattoo here, and I had such a great experience that I'm dying to go back for my second. Incredible artists, chill vibe, and clean. My artist was super understanding and made sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. It looks incredible, and I could not be happier. (My husband says it's a little pricy, but I think I paid fairly for such good work. Honestly, I would have paid more--every time I look at my tattoo I think about how much I love it. Getting my tattoo at Lucky Dagger was a fun experience. Everyone there was friendly and nice! The shop was clean and organize. I liked how everyone had their own unique area.
