Went in here to have 2 piercings done, my nose and nipplee. When discussing the nose placement it seemed like i was wasting his time even though Ii was the only customer. In the store. This may have been a very mundane piercing for him but it was my first. His demeanour change immediately when we went to talking about the nipple piercing. Just the way he went on..it gave me the creeps. I quickly ran for the door. He just did not seem like an artist seemed more like a pervert. read more

I am "all tatted up" as people say, but went through a dry spell of about two years of no new work. I had plenty of stuff planned, but no shop I felt comfortable at after the last one I frequented closed. I researched and looked through the portfolios from a lot of places in the city. Finally my husband booked me a slot at Imperial after he scouted it out. I went in on a Tuesday with a basic line drawing and by Thursday had a custom, full-color, ankle-to-knee panel on my calf. I've waited a month at other places for an appointment, so I was really happy to get in so fast. Ryan was outstanding. He worked quickly, stayed very professional, and seemed to be able to read my mind when it came to color and fill work that wasn't on the original line art. The prices, very reasonable, are quoted and paid up front, so cigarette breaks, phones calls, or consulting with other clients don't figure in to the price like some other places. In fact, Ryan didn't take any breaks while he worked on my leg. Many people who've seen it think I did multiple sittings. Nope, done in one. Also, this has been one of the easiest healing jobs I've had. The shop itself is no frills--don't go if you are looking for decor, hipster "art," or posh seating. Old concert posters and flash cover the walls. The stairwell leading up is dark, but the shop is clean and uncluttered. The front-of-the-house guy is efficient, if a little brusque, but know what you want and you'll be fine. read more

I got my nose pierced here back in November along with my Tragus. In the middle of getting my nose pierced it started bleeding profusely. The piercer proceeded to say I was lying about being on medication, which I wasn't, then after it finally stopped he showed me the jewelry that he was going to put in my nose. I asked if he had anything smaller because the stud he wanted to put in was a 16 gage( that size is usually used for when you want to stretch your nose out). I have a pretty small nose so I knew that wasn't the right size. He then got an attitude when I asked for something smaller and said that was the only size he carried so I would have to deal with it and get it changed out somewhere else. After my nose finally healed I went to Downtown Tattoo to have my jewelry changed out. While the lady was doing it I noticed shooting pains in my lip and gum on the side of my piercing. I told her about it and she said it was the result of the jewelry being too big for my nose. This past weekend I went to Wicked 13 to have a stud put in my nose for work and we discovered that when my nose was pierced at Imperial the guy pierced on my vein which is why I was experiencing so much pain during jewelry changes. I now have to let my piercing close up and heal so I can have it redone. Now, while I was getting my tragus pierced it also started profusely bleeding. Days after I experienced extreme discomfort and a weird bump popped up. I decided to get it taken out and when I did the bump popped. I won't go into details but what came out of that bump was absolutely disgusting and not normal. I also had to let that one completely close and will have to get it redone eventually. My friend who got her daith pierced here back in October had a worse experience than me . While getting her daith pierced she experienced extreme discomfort. The piercer had an attitude with her about it and said 'if you're going to be such a baby about a piercing then maybe you shouldn't be getting one'. After it being pierced for a week she continuously experienced discomfort. Finally after a week she had to go to the ER to have the piercing removed because her ear swelled up to five times it's size. The doctors told us this was a result of her ear being pierced with unsanitized tools. I want to clarify that my friend and I both have multiple piercings so this isn't something we're new to. I have never profusely bleed while getting a piercing like I did when I went here. My friend has also never had a piercing swell up that badly. I would not recommend anyone go here for piercings at all. Save your money and go to Wicked 13, Pigment Tattoo, or even Downtown Tattoo. It'll not only save you from wasting your money but you'll also save yourself the trouble of having a screwed up piercing that will have to be redone. read more

About a month ago I went to get a piercing and everything went great my piercer had explained to me that if I had ran into any issues to please come back just to get a second opinion and well more recently my piercing has been uncomfortable and bothering me. So I decided to go back there today just so he could check it out and get professional advice just because I felt comfortable doing that. I walk up to a rude greeting at the door before even entering the building by the owner of imperial. She asks if I was going up there and I proceeded to say yes. I also tell her that I needed to speak to the piercer just so he could look at this and make sure the piercing was done properly, then she said that's not their Job no shop is gonna look at your piercing and give you a second opinion and proceeded to tell me If anything I need to seek medical attention When I was just doing what I was told, she was just plain rude. I asked her name and she didn't want to tell me. I would be ashamed too, acting like a child when you own a business I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN and I don't recommend them. read more

I have never had anything but a pleasant experience at Imperial Tattoo, and I have been there more times than I can count since 2009. I've had multiple piercings done there, all of my tattoos done there, and I've brought many friends there. I recommend this place to everyone and they are always extremely satisfied. Ryan has done all but one of my fourteen tattoos, and Joey has done a tiny one on me and I've seen the great tattoos he's done on my brother and friends. Ryan is so great at what he does- not only am I in love with my tattoos, but I get compliments ALL of the time from old ladies to biker dudes and everyone in between. The shop is always extremely clean and I've always felt really appreciated as a customer. Unlike some other tattoo shops in the greater New Orleans area, Imperial Tattoo is NOT a tourist trap. You can come here and expect to get a fair price for beautiful, detail-oriented work. Imperial Tattoo takes tattooing seriously- if you're looking for low-quality scratchers, go elsewhere. Ryan is extremely versatile- he always helps me bring my ideas to life, and everything from larger, colorful pieces to tiny black lettering comes out exactly how I wanted. Sean is the body piercer and he's awesome too. He's always extremely clean and gentle, and you can see that he really knows what he's doing. If you want something new but aren't sure what you want, ask him! He's full of helpful ideas and suggestions regarding piercings and jewelry. All of the staff are professional and easy to talk to. No one is going to dick you around or waste your time. Ryan's wife Cheri is usually who answers when I call to make appointments and she always goes above and beyond customer service. I always look forward to seeing everyone when I go in. I'll definitely keep coming back for all of my tattoos and piercings. read more

I would not recommend anybody to go here! I got a septum done here because of the cheap price $20! My piercing was both too far down and too far back! I ended up having to let it close and go somewhere else for a much better job. But, i guess you get what you pay for, the piercer was really impersonal and not too helpful to begin with. Their tattoos on the wall didn't even look good, not that I would even think about letting them ever tattoo me. read more

joe A and ryan at imperial tattoo...if your not from "da parish," which i am not, its worth taking a lil ride out to chalmette and meet these guys and see what you can get done. when people think about tattoo shops, alot of ppl think that all the good ones are in down town new orleans, or on magazine st...there are some really good ones there...but let me tell you. i got 2 tattoos from here with joe A. and he is really nice and so talented. the prices are comparable to others, and maybe even a little better...but ask yourself this,...is a tattoo, something that last forever, really something that u want to get a bargain deal on? remember that u get what you pay for. quality and experience are key to good service, and this place got my vote on my favorite tattoo shop. i have been waiting for years to get a tattoo that is visible (arm sleeve) and i finally found a guy (joe A) who i can relate to, has a great personality, and is one hell of a tattoo artist. the rest of the staff is very kind, and can hold a conversation with customers, unlike some of the other premadona tattoo artist who act like celebrities with a cocky attitude. this place gets all the stars, since i wounldnt plan on going to anyone eles for ink. read more
