I have been coming to Pure OBGYN since March this year when I found out that I was pregnant with my first baby. While the doctors at the facility are simply amazing - professional, courteous and some truly caring about their patients, the overall administrative aspect of the office is lacking and way under expectation. (I would have rated the doctors five stars if not for the incident as described in the following paragraphs) The company that I work for requires a lot of legal paper to be filled out prior to pregnancy in order to be eligible for short term disability leave, maternity leave and New York Family Leave. I marked the sections that are to be completed by the office, dropped the hard copy paper in a folder with the front desk before Labor Day. The front desk lady (who failed to spell my name correctly for 7 visits...) assured me that the office manager would attend to the paper work within one week. Two weeks elapsed without any updates. I called the office only to be told that everything was still under way and they would reach out. They never did. After at least another 5 calls, they finally admitted that my legal paper was nowhere to be found and they had not the ability to trace where it went or who would have lost it. (hmmm...thanks for the timely update and voiding my weeks of work filling the paper work out under the guidance of our HR department) I was simply dumb founded. The package contains all the sensitive information, i.e. address, social security, bank account, tax info, salary, you name it. And voila, a lighter than feather statement, 'we might have shredded it...' The whole fiasco wasted about 3 weeks of my time and added completely unnecessary stress. It reflects poor management overall. read more

I have been coming here for the past few months never had any issues until my last two experiences with Pure OBGYN. First off if your not a doctor of general medicine but see signs of something you feel your patient should follow up on do so in a delicate and understanding manner. To be told I may have a life changing disease by a professional with no pre-qualifying question being asked an in such a judgmental tone is not necessary. Especially coming from a male doctor in the baby boomer generation. With that said I tossed it up to insensitivity on his part and not to place full judgement on this establishment (despite the numerous bad reviews). But this for me was the real kicker. After seeing how many reviews were about up-charging and how they possibly swindle fees on to the bill; knowing my current insurance status I thought it be best I get the coding they planed on using for my upcoming procedure. My records, my bills, my insurance, MY BUSINESS! Right?! Well apparently at Pure OBGYN they don't feel that way. I called reception asking for this information for my insurance and they asked me "Why do you need this information?" I reply "As I mentioned I want to run this by my insurance to make sure I will be fully covered the way reception told me I would be yesterday". First they fought me by claiming they don't know what the codes are for or which they are gonna use; after I explained in details exactly what will be done the day of my procedure. Then trying to change the topic they acted as if I didn't know what I was talking about trying to explain to me what anesthesia is like i didn't just explain it to them in my own words. Then they claim I don't need the information because I was already approved; still not an answer to my question. Finally after being told she has to speak her manager to provide my personal records and info she gets back on the phone in a huff; with the exact info I need. Then had the nerve to laugh as she hung up saying to go ahead and call my insurance. Rude and unnecessary. Behavior like this is very interesting to me. Insurance codes = $Money$. I feel I have a right to know what me and my insurance will be charged gaining opportunity to explore my options. With that said be cautious... read more

If you are in a vulnerable state and wish to be ignored upon entering and leaving, even as 5 people sit at the desk in front of you (this was my experience for both visits. I always have to speak first before anyone will look up from their computer at me, as a new patient, not comforting). And ultimately treated like you are an inconvenience, scolded like a child by assistants who seem to have an attitude with you for not apparent reason other than your sheer presence. And to be fat shamed and told "people like you who are very heavy" like 5times by the Doctor when once or twice really got the point across, than go here. If you wish to be treated with dignity and respect? Maybe go elsewhere. A lovely office to look at, clean, but the vibe is really very unfriendly. Which I simply do not understand. It's hard to not take it personally when you are having complications, it's nice to feel some sense of compassion. That did not come across to me at all. And ultimately made me more emotional than I've ever been regarding any doctors appointment, especially when receiving more disappointing news after a rough year of failed interventions. With the exception of one assistant who helped with removal of my IUD, and seemed genuinely kind. So thank you to her. read more

Called today first thing this morning to set up an emergency appt as I just found out I am pregnant & have been violently ill & unable to eat. Was told I could possibly be seen & they would call me right back. They never called me back! I understand under other circumstances possibly forgetting but I was in tears & have been a patient of theirs since they first opened this location. Absolutely ridiculous. Will never call again or return. Thank you for making a horrible day even worse Pure OBGYN! read more

Everyone working at the front desk of this office is absolutely lovely. The office is really beautiful, clean, with a good amount of space. It feels welcoming. The doctor herself was nice enough, a bit impersonal but so be it. She's trying to see a lot of people in a day. The frustrating part came after the appointment. I called three times over the course of two weeks to try to get clarity on some of my results. I didn't want to be too pushy but no one ever called me back. The third time I called I asked for a quick answer since I had been trying for a while. I was told I'd get a call back within the hour. Instead of a call I got an email, which said "results were normal and to let her know if I have any questions." I called because I do have questions that I'm not trying to discuss over email, which is why I called several times. It took a few more attempts to get someone on the phone for a three minute discussion. Something to note -- they push very hard for you to review them--several follow up emails, receptionist directly asking for review, etc. Except when you need them to respond, they're MIA. read more

I have never been treated so terribly by a doctor's office in my life. Dr. Schultis came highly recommended by a friend. I made an initial appointment, which got canceled because apparently, Dr. S was going to be in Manhattan that day. Fine, no problem. My 2nd appointment with a different doctor was again canceled because she was out sick. Fine, no problem. My 3rd appointment was made, again with Dr. Schultis, my preference, but when they called to confirm, they said my appointment was with Terri - a "nurse practitioner" because "Dr. Schultis is on vacation." So, 3 mistakes prior to me even becoming a patient. I'm sure NPs are great, but I needed a doctor for personal medical reasons. I was told that if something bad came up in my test results after my annual exam with Terri, that I could then see a doctor after that...fine. I showed up for an 8:20 a.m. appointment and was asked if I had filled out the pre-appointment paperwork. Umm, no, you never sent me anything. So they emailed me a portal link to my phone in the office and asked me to fill it out. It took 20 minutes to receive it because, despite spelling my name TWICE, the incompetent front desk got my email wrong TWICE. Then they tried to charge me a $20 copay, even though I told them I don't have a copay for an annual exam. They did that TWICE. After waiting 1 HOUR, I asked them if they needed anything else from me, to which they replied "oh do you need to make a follow-up appointment?" WHAT? I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN ANYONE YET. Long story short, after waiting a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes, I decided to leave. I asked them to not charge my insurance, because I didn't see anyone and that I wouldn't be a patient after being treated so badly before even becoming a patient. Oh, and finally, the Dr. Schultis I was told was on vacation that day...SHE WAS THERE. So they lied to me to protect their mistake. Finally, I called Aetna to give them a head's up and make sure they didn't clear charges from Pure. They told me...get this..."Terri" is not in Netowork with my insurance because...she's not an NP...she's a midwife!! Also...the office was absolutely PACKED. I felt so unsafe sitting in their lobby. Way too many people. Do not go here. There are great doctors all over NYC. These people have balls to treat people this way. read more

so fast, informative and the only place i've seen that can let you go under for IUDs and pap smears!

great staff, nice facility and the doctor was excellent about answering my questions!

This office is beautiful and they are efficient. HOWEVER, I doubt they follow best practices and there is much room for improvement with patient care and education. I was falsely diagnosed with an STI. When the NP called me, she gave me no information about the STI or issues with testing for it. The CDC revoked the test that they used because it frequently gives false positives, but they did not tell me this before giving me the test or when giving me my results. Thankfully my PCP helped me sort this out. He recommend I find a new practice, as this mistake and added stress was unnecessary and easily avoidable. read more

I had the best experience here today. I was skeptical about changing doctors but the office was warm and inviting. The wait time was very short unlike other doctors. The office staff is kind and professional, especially Maygan and Lena. read more

I'm on the fence about this place because as most said, the doctors are just fantastic. I've seen Dr. Schultis a number of times for regular check ups, cysts, birth control concerns, etc, and she is really the best I've ever seen. I'm not the type to pick apart a business on Yelp because receptionists are "rude", but I will say they have caused some extreme complications when it comes to getting anything done outside the office: MRI prescriptions, refilling birth control, even just booking my follow-up appointment with my same doctor... the list of things overlooked or screwed up truly goes on. I want to stay because the doctors are so good but my god, the office's correspondents have really given me hell. I would also note that I first found this place because of their amazing reviews, but they obviously seemed to have tanked just in the last couple of years solely because of the aforementioned. The polarity in reviews makes sense: if you don't need much beyond an annual, go for it. Something beyond? Double, triple check administrative things you wouldn't think you'd have to. And maybe get your Doc's direct phone extension or email if possible. read more

I just recently moved here and was scouting for a new OBGYN. I figured since this location was convenient I'd give them a try. Let me tell you, they exceeded my expectations! The office is very well decorated and appealed to me greatly! I like the fact that they decorate whilst keeping their clientele in mind. The office is equipped with a very clean bathroom, a beautiful reception area and a coffee/tea bar. The ladies at reception were very cheerful and professional; they always spoke with a smile and made the process very quick and easy. (I am in customer service so I pay great attention to certain details). My OB was Dr. Becker who was also very sweet. I was extremely comfortable with her and she provided me with a lot of info. I guess I got lucky when I was scouting for an OBGYN. I've since decided that I'll be with them for as long as I live in NYC. By the way... I never write reviews so thanks to everyone who made my visit amazing! read more

Stay away !!!! The WORST experience I've EVER had!! Booked my appointment with Dr. Solomony. I was 10 min late, but I think it's fine, especially if its no other clients there. I was only ONE person in a waiting room. First bad expression I've had when a girl from RECEPTION DESK!!! Not even nurse !! gave me a can for STD tests WITHOUT doctor seeing me !! Who's f...cking doing that ??? Is it possible?!! What if I had my STD testing two weeks ago and it was FINE ! So they want to charge me 50$ per position straight away without doctor even take a look on me ?? And it's for 250$ just for her "professional" consultation?? When I said that point of my visit a little bit different and I would love to see a doctor first, they made a weird face and left me in a waiting room for 30 min !!! Attention I was a ONLY ONE patient !! What the hek they was doing there ??? Drinking tea ?? watching football game ?? Or it's just a way to punish their clients who stuck in a traffic and was 10 min late ?? When finally they put me in a room with a nurse she told me to take off my clothes and ATTENTION !! left me there for another 40 !! 40 !!! min !!! I called for a doctor 2 times !! but she's NEVR !!! NEVER !!! show up !!!! So, I missed my meeting, waiting for this disrespectful person, who charging 250$ for this stupid appointment and even for this amount of money she's thinking if she willing to see me or not ?? Bitch, you need a professional help, it's something wrong with you. You should put your narcissistic ass on psychologist seat! Just the WORST!!! read more

So, it's weird for me to ever have a bad experience with a doctor, because, really, how bad can it be? Pretty bad, it turns out. First off, it's clean and pleasant, and I'm sure everyone is working hard, but it seems pretty disorganized. I had to come in because my fertility specialist needed a recent Pap smear to start IVF in a month. There's kind of a "time is of the essence" quality to that whole process. So, I got my test done, was told I'd have the results in a week, and I filled out medical release paperwork to send to the IVF clinic. A week passed. I called to follow up. I was told they don't call if everything is fine (so good news?), but since I still needed the results I asked them to call back when they knew. After two weeks I called again. They had the results (and didn't call me?) and told me they didn't get a large enough sample, but it should be fine. Okay! I asked them to send the results on. They told me they'd lost my paperwork. Once I filled it out (again) they finally did send it on, and, yeah, the IVF clinic explained that no, since their sample was too small, they couldn't start IVF until I got another PAP smear. Pure OBGYN suggested I come back for another PAP smear in three months. I'm planning to do that, but at a different clinic. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. The receptionists have always been friendly and helpful, but the medical assistant was pretty unprofessional. When I told her my presenting issue, her response was that she made a disturbed facial expression and said "I've never heard that before." The doctor is friendly with good bedside manners, however he is not a specialist. It is best practice, and the ethical thing to do, to refer me to see a specialist for the issue (note: there is some false advertisement on the website on their specialization). A year later I attended a support group and got the much helpful recommendation to see a specialist. Now I am on the right track with my healthcare. Therefore, if you are seeking normal obgyn care, this sounds like a good place, however if you have any unusual symptoms, definitely seek another provider. Also, when I received my medical records, I noticed the notes were totally inaccurate. read more

I arrived to find the lights out in the office. Finally someone turned them on, but while a few staff milled in & out, speaking Russian to each other, none addressed me. Twenty minutes later I called out to see what was happening, and a woman ushered me into an examination room without speaking to me, and then proceeded to ask me questions about my health history & write notes on a piece of paper. I asked to speak with the doctor, and she sent in the NP (I was expecting to see a doctor). I left without being examined. Would not recommend. read more

This place is great! The doctors are awesome! My fiance and I just had our second child with all of the doctors at pure. Love the fact that everyone is involved in your care so no matter who was there when we got there they were all knowledgeable about our case. I had by far the best experience today with MA Celia. Our son is a couple days old and we had to go in for circumcision. Had to hand over my brand new baby to a stranger. But from inception she was awesome. Very warm and welcoming made me feel comfortable before taking our son she walked me into the room where they would be doing the procedure and explained to me how it would go. (my fiance was "afraid" to look) I handed my son over and waited in the waiting room. there was an unforseen delay she ended up with my son alone for about 45 mins. She came back outside time and time again to let me know and to SHOW me to thatbhe was ok and give me periodic updates. This woman was amazing like so many others at the practice. The difference is that all of them helped care for my fiance when she was pregnant but Celia was the one who took outstanding care of our new born. THANK YOU ALL.. But especially her! Highly recommend. read more

I came here for an IUD. It was an odd situation when I got it as I was called day of and asked to reschedule my appointment because the provider had to leave early. I was flexible and didn't think much of it. The appointment was also weird. I had to return a month later to get it checked. I was late to the appointment- but after waiting 45 min was told they had no way of letting me know if it would be 30 more min or 5 because of rooms. I waited a little longer and asked again, at this point the office manager told me there was an emergency and I would have to wait at least 25 more minutes... I said that it would have been nice to know this when I asked the first time, but was told it wasn't their fault and brushed an emergency is an emergency.there were at least 10 other patients waiting. I was pretty mad. Mostly bc the wait time was going to be over an hour maybe longer before even getting a room. And the office managers attitude made it seem like somehow my fault... I stormed out -not to return. This place has nice amenities but it's run poorly read more

Dr. Goncharov is a dream to work with. Every appointment has been nothing short of professional, yet feel like he really cares about you as a patient. Even in his off hours, he has gone above and beyond to help me with any issues I may be experiencing. I have recommended him and PureOBGYn to a handful of friends and coworkers, and they have all been thankful and appreciative that I referred them to such great care. I know I am in the best hands when working with him and his team. read more

This office is a freaking mess. The people who work there were nice enough and I really liked Dr. Becker, but they never called me back with my test results which I thought was odd, but my PCP always says "no news is good news when it comes to test results" so I let it go. Three months ago out of nowhere I suddenly became basically unable to get my birth control. I was told I would have a year supply of refills but suddenly I had none and the pharmacy was at a loss as to why they couldn't get in touch with the office to rectify the issue. I had multiple phone calls speaking to an office assistant where she kept telling me a medical assistant would contact me and the pharmacy to sort out the situation (this is now my third day without my birth control). I would then check in with the pharmacy and be told that no one had contacted them and they had to chase after the office to get it fixed. After contacting the office a second time I got a call back from someone saying they had test results for me but when I returned the call confused "Hi I called for birth control refills, but someone said they had test results...?" All I was told was "A medical assistant will get back to you." No one ever did. For all I know I could have something wrong with me and I just never got the information. The same run around happened this month with my medication and I didn't get my birth control until 5 days after the prescription was supposed to be ready for me. Three months ago I booked for my annual pap and I got 3 calls this week to confirm my appointment, but when I called back today to confirm, I was first told "Ok you're all set for tomorrow" then immediately got a follow up call saying they dont take my insurance anymore. I called back to check that that was the correct information and was told yes they dont take it, so I asked if it was a possibility to pay out of pocket and was told it would be approx $400-500 at least. I was very frustrated and told the office assistant that I should have been told I was going out of network in the new year so that I could find a new doctor (and I know they know how their network changes because I had two doctors last year let me know A MONTH in advance that I would have to pay out of pocket or find another provider since the network was changing). It's been a year since I've had a physical with an OBGYN and now I dont know how I'm going to get my birth control prescription for next month since now I have to find a new doctors office (my local Planned Parenthood doesnt even have appointments until mid February). This place is ill-managed and put their patients in unnecessarily stressful and potentially dangerous situations. Do yourself a favor and find another OBGYN who actually cares. read more

Profits over patients. It's time to find a new GYN. I have been going to this office for a few years and have had minimal issues up to this point. However, with the change in location and expanding of the practice, it's painfully obvious they are willing to go great lengths to make a buck, even when it's unethical to do so. I believe all services provided should be paid for; I'm not looking for a handout or discounted services. I have good insurance. Riddle me this. I am scheduled for a 3 month follow-up. I come to the appointment and pay my copay. The NP Marina Kuperman walks into the room, looks at my chart and asks me why I am there. I tell here that I was scheduled for a 3 month follow-up for a diagnostic test I received. She informs me that my test result was normal and there is no need for my appointment. She tells me that she is canceling my visit and that I should return for an annual visit. A few months later, I return for my annual visit and I'm informed that I owe $10 additional for the previous canceled visit and a copay for the current visit. After paying the copay I questioned the receptionists as to why I have a balance for a canceled visit. Turns out the visit wasn't canceled and my insurance was billed $396.79 for a visit where I was told that I didn't need to be seen. I drove across town and had my time wasted. I wasn't treated or seen by my doctor and yet it cost me $25 and almost $400 was billed to my insurance? It costs $425 to tell someone they don't need to be seen? You bill TWO CPT codes to my insurance for telling me that I don't need to be seen? I know the new office is larger and has all the bells and whistles, however, you don't have screw over patients and insurance companies to stay in business. I will be writing a letter to Empire BC. read more
