This is the first chiropractor that I have ever been to. Honestly I didn't think I would ever go to one let alone become a regular at one. I had a pinched nerve in my neck and at first I tried massage, then I tried acupuncture, and finally it was suggested I try a chiropractor. I did what every typical Chicagoan would do and that was I went to Yelp to find someone close. I found Dr. Karl online and scheduled my first appointment. Street parking is free. That's a plus. The office is brand new and clean. Another plus. And finally Dr Karl was very thorough in figuring out what the problem was and putting a plan together to fix it. I would say within a week or two of going in for treatments the pain was completely gone. He is always adding new stretches or exercises that I can do at home to speed up my recovery which is a plus. Now one month or maybe 6 weeks later I feel I am almost 99% cured. Not sure what my recommendation is worth on Yelp especially on something I didn't know a lot about before but I think if you are looking for some pain relief Dr Karl is the place to go. I never review things but this is the best chiro experience I've had to date in dealing with long term spinal and hip issues I could not be more impressed by the staff and the space. Scheduling was easy and available next day and the price with my insurance was well below what I am used to paying. They go above and beyond a typical adjustment with massage therapy muscle stimulation and client education. Even after one consult and adjustment I feel amazing. I had never really had back pain over the years and had never thought about seeing a chiropractor. But as a photographer I get a lot of overuse injuries (mostly back and shoulders) and got tired of all the MRIs and x-rays my regular doctor kept prescribing that never seemed to accomplish much. I happened to meet Dr. Karl in a business networking group so I decided to try him out. And he was fantastic! I had noticeable improvement in pain levels almost instantly, and over the course of just a couple of weeks, pain I'd been suffering for months, went completely away. More recently I suffered an injury to my back, and I had the same experience; there was an immediate reduction in pain levels from my very first treatment. I'm a convert, and would strongly recommend Dr. Karl and Pure Motion to anyone who has back or joint pain of any kind. I should also mention they have a great location -- Roscoe Village is pretty easy to get to and free on-street parking is usually plentiful. I have been seeing Dr Karl for almost a year now after injuring myself diving for a frisbee (yes, even frisbees are dangerous!) and hurting my lower back. He's helped get me back in shape (i.e., pain-free) both from adjustments, and from physical therapy. Overall he shows a great interest in his clients staying healthy by teaching mobility exercises and easy, every day things you can do to keep your body and back fit. I've also started seeing the massage therapist, Kris, who is also great and is very good at encouraging active communication during massages so that you're getting the best massage possible. Dr. Karl is a generally nice person as well as a great chiropractor. I've been to a few chiropractors before, and think his techniques work great and also like that he is down to earth. To make a long story short, I found this on Groupon almost a year ago. He's been my chiropractor ever since! 1st star is for how accommodating Dr. Michael Karl and his staff is, they are always able to squeeze me in no matter what! 2nd star is for Dr. Karl himself who is super knowledgeable and was able to help diagnose a problem in my back that I didn't know I had. 3rd star is for the facility, it's nice and clean and they always have a nice smelling candle. 4th star is for how much better I feel! I work a lot with my shoulders and can feel this pressure build up in my back and it just hurts! When I leave here that pressure just disappears! I do like his place a lot and would recommend Dr. Karl to anyone! I only minus 1 star because when I come during certain parts of the day (not all the time) but mainly after 4pm the parking can become annoyingly difficult....which I suppose is definitely to be expected, but it is frustrating. read more

I've now seen Dr. Karl for a couple different injuries and I couldn't have had a better experience overall. This place will make your pain more bearable for a variety of reasons. Dr. Karl's hours are very accommodating, I rarely have to wait for my appointments to start, if ever, maybe 5 minutes at most. He and the rest of the office staff are very friendly and helpful. It's a relaxing environment and I look forward to going rather than dreading it like a typical doctors appointment. The location is really convenient for me as well both for walking or driving/parking and public transit for others. At the beginning of my injuries, I couldn't imagine feeling normal again and pain pill free because the pain was so constant but he was able to make those unrealistic hopes become a reality. He doesn't just treat you but gives you realistic advice on what to do at home. A major bonus is that they are very knowledgeable and proactive with dealing with insurance and making that a seamless process. This place was a complete disappointment. I went here 3x's a week for 3 weeks just waiting for a change to happen. After all the reviews I thought I should be patient, but nothing ever changed. After suffering from neck pain for years, I finally decided to go to a Chiropractor. A friend recommended Pure Motion, so I went last week for my first adjustment with Dr. Karl. He took x-rays of my neck and was very thorough in his explanation of what was going on and how he planned to treat my next pain. I was a little nervous but Dr. Karl made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I felt immediate relief! For the first time in years I had a pain free weekend! Dr Karl is a great chiropractor! Always gets the 'kinks' out for me in one visit! The muscle stimulation before adjustment helps to relax. Also, the added bonus is that there is a massage therapist on staff. Kris has magic hands and gives one of the best massages I have ever had. Big fan of this place all around! Only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that I don't like the 3 hour break in the middle of day that they are closed. Most chiropractic offices seem to do this, but would be better for me to grab a lunchtime appointment. Other than that minor issue I highly recommend! read more
