My standard process is to wait on my Explanation of Benefits to ensure my insurance pays first to avoid overpaying. So this week, I receive a 'Final Notice' from Mountain Empire Radiology. I may have received a previous bill, but it was not with my medical paperwork I keep filed. While I appreciate a follow-up notice, this one was different. This notice was particularly demanding and short on details of the procedure or what portion insurance covered, even threatening collection within 10 days IN BOLD AND UNDERLINED and threatening my credit history for a service rendered less than 60 days ago. Amount of bill is only $89.00. I'd recommend S. T. in the collections department review her form and consider a more customer friendly approach. While I may not have much of a choice who to use in the ER, I still think a bit of customer service goes a long way.

The only thing that I would be hesitant about (and this goes with any hospital) is that you always have to have someone there to make sure that the doctors and nurses are on the same page. When you have multiple doctors with conflicting opinions, it becomes a parent or relative's responsibility to set them straight. YMMV in the above statement. Overall, the staff was great but there were a couple night shift and surgeons that needed some help in the people skills department. Not a huge issue, but when the stress from an injured family member hits a family hard, it might become a bigger problem.

I never even saw a nurse except for in triage. I opened my door at one point just so they could remember that I was there because I honestly thought I was being ignored by the staff. Finally the provider came in to see me and acted extremely rushed and rude. She told me that I didn't need an x-ray and sent me on my way. Now I don't know about you, but I think that I could've at least been treated a little better since I waited so long. She was so rude and dismissive, and I left the office in tears. She made me feel crazy for complaining about my pain and told me my symptoms were normal. I found a different doctor who agreed to do a diagnostic surgery where she found stage 3 endometriosis with adhesions gluing my colon to my abdominal wall and fibrosis completely covering and restricting my right ureter. If I had listened to Dr. Crowder and not pushed for a diagnosis with a different doctor, I would still be in debilitating pain. She should not have her license.
