Dr Merrill I feel actually saved my life. I was in a car accident with no serious injuries thankfully. I went to Dr Merrill with some neck pain. He took X-ray and told me he noticed a bubble on my aortic blood line he suggested I go to my general doctor and have further testing he was right on the money as I has a bubble almost 3 times of what it should have been. Excellent office, everyone that works there is kind, helpful, and personable. I have been going to this office for over a year now and have never had a complaint. When I first came in I was suffering from severe pain and would have spells where I couldn't even walk, I would just collapse in pain. I was pregnant and could not get X-rays however Dr. Merrill is very knowledgeable and good at his job and was able to help me manage my pain till I was able to get X-rays later on down the road. I remember being so surprised because I didn't even have to tell Dr. Merrill where my pain was, after some poking and prodding in a quick assessment of my back he was able to tell me what I was feeling and why, which is very impressive to me considering most doctors you have to SPELL IT OUT and play charades for them to even be relatively close to helping you figure out your problem.By the time you have finally gotten them to understand you mine as well just have done some research on the internet, fixed your own problem and saved yourself a trillion dollars. I have been many places in my life where it's like going to the mechanic, you go in with one problem and leave with three! At Dr. Merrill's office this is not the case, he is very well informed and truly helps you recover long term. His wife, Kathy, does an amazing job with message therapy as well, between the two of them I could not be more thankful for finding this place! I'm so glad I did not take heed to the bad reviews, I've seen and read them and almost didn't go to Dr.Merrill's office at first, I only gave it a try because people I know and trust said he was great. I personally conclude those reviews were written in immaturity, it would seem as though they might have been expecting care to be free? Also they seemed very emotional and not performance based. I was really eager to come back to Merrill chiropractic. I was a patient decades ago when I lived here. I really respect Gohnstead method. It seems more evidence based than other practices since there are x-rays and instruments of measurements. I was hopeful to get some relief for tennis elbow and chronic back issues. I knew i was stretching my budget since my HSA was dwindling, but I hoped to get some relief at least before the money ran out. I appreciated how much Dr Merrill explained. I have never had so much information and literature from a chiropractor (I have seen many). Again hopeful. I was a little socially disoriented after the first visit though. Dr Merrill has a big personality. I did get to present the basics of my concerning issues, but I also came away not feeling heard and even a bit lectured about issues I hadn't asked for help with: my eating habits, pooping habits and even my spiritual choices. It was interesting information but it was a bit too much too soon and way too sales-like. Each of the first three visits I did see some relief physically but each time came away feeling a bit lectured and even slightly offended. I decided to hang in there, even though his diagnostics of other issues were far off-- he assumed based on my x-ray that I struggled with constipation (which I have never had). On the fourth visit I told him I only had so much money left in my HSA and asked what he would recommend with that much money. He swiftly went into lecture mode and told me that I was trying to control him by telling him what treatment I could do and not do. The worst part was that he played the God card on what I could afford, telling me that God would supply. I still tried to ask questions but he was obviously offended that I was not going to be a "compliant patient" and was ready to get rid of me. He said that it was all or nothing for treatment. I really wish he had led with this on the first visit! I would have explained up front on what I was able to afford. He basically kicked me out of his office without doing a manipulation. I came away visibly shaken, confused, and greatly offended. I would give one star except that I still really do believe in the technical part of what he is doing. I really think I could have gotten some relief with the visits I could afford, but he was not willing to give me that.
