"Service" has really declined at this dealership and I am now a former customer. Here is my most recent experience: I paid for my oil change with my debit card. I was told that I would be charged a 3% fee. I advised the manager that it was a debit card, not a credit card. He insisted that the fee would still be charged. I advised him that it was unethical and possibly illegal. I wrote my disagreement with the fee above my signature. If that's their policy (to charge CREDIT cards), they need to have their machines programmed to be able to distinguish between CREDIT and DEBIT cards. I am disputing it with my credit union and will move heaven and earth to stop this erroneous charging. In addition, when I made the appointment, I told the guy that I had to leave by 11:30, and he assured me that my 10:00 appointment was sufficient time for an oil change. At 11:20 , I asked about the status of my car, as it was still in the bay. The manager attempted to admonish me for not advising them of my time requirement when I dropped it off. I told him that I told the guy when I made the appointment. His response, "Well, he doesn't know what's going on down here." His tone was dismissive. I guess the only good part was that I didn't get talked into getting additional services that could have been necessary. read more

I took my car there for a simple oil change and tire rotation. Paid $80. This was my 2nd time going there. 1st time was an ok experience. Of course they hit me with pages of things that is allegedly direly wrong with my car but all mechanics do that. It took them 2 1/2 hrs to do my oil change! They went through my glove compartment (likely looking for the tire lock) and left all the contents on my floor. Didn't even bother to put the stuff back. Also, for whatever reason, my dash cam was unplugged?! My dash cam records everything in front of, inside and behind the car at all times while the car is on. I can't help but wonder if it was unplugged so they could do stuff they weren't supposed to be doing. My dash cam is not in the way of the oil components nor the tires and need not be touched. I will never take my car there for that overpriced service and I would suggest you don't either! read more

The service Department is not at Honest, We bought our 2022 Honda at Pure thinking we would have our CRV serviced there. That said they have attempted to con us into services on three separate occasions. The first time was for brake cleaning at 15,000 miles. The next time was changing the brake fluid, and last but not least a rear wheel alignment. they stated the alignment was so bad that our tires weren't touching the ground. All of this was false as we took it to an another dealer who said non of those services were needed. Customers beware the service manager and service writers are paid in commission. Bottom line they will make stuff up to increase their pay. I was waiting for them to charge to replace the air in our tires because it was old. Very sad read more

Ferndale Honda was my go-to for years. Since they became Pure Honda their service department has really gone south. Two weeks ago I made an appointment to have my a/c checked as it was blowing hot air. Arrived and was told there were 20 cars ahead of mine and that they *might* be able to look at it Friday; this was on a Monday morning. Guess I'll just put on extra deodorant and drive with the windows down. This week I requested an appointment for a different problem but never received a confirmation and assumed the request didn't go through. After I was a no-show a tech called me, told me they were "wide open" that afternoon, and I could come in later that morning. Same story on arrival; leave the car, maybe we'll look at it next Monday, but we can get you a rental for $40/day...The only amusement I gained from both of these situations is that the techs looked puppy-hurt and surprised as I backed my car out of the bay. Many of us who work in service-focused environments are short handed; we get it. But please be honest and contact the customer BEFORE the appointment and before they've rearranged their day. Don't bait people with false availability and hold their vehicle hostage for several days. But I think you know that if you tell the truth, people will go elsewhere, which is exactly what I did in both instances. Pure Honda=Pure B.S. I am done with this dealership. read more

This makes it abundantly clear Pure Honda trains it's sales reps to actively try and cheat you. What a joke. Tell me how this makes sense.... I make a service appointment to figure out an issue with my AC. I go in for my appointment thinking it will take a couple hours or the rest of the day to troubleshoot. NOPE they wanted me to drop of my car and they said they would figure it out MAYBE 6 days later. They tell me this on the spot as well... not ahead of time. Meanwhile I've had multiple issues before with the AC system and took it to other Honda service centers and they diagnose it that same day. This place expected me to leave my car for a week to find the issue and doesn't even offer transportation like other Honda service centers. 1 star for customer service read more

Since this dealer changed hands, I've had multiple issues with setting up services but them turning me away once I got there. When I had my windshield replaced, I made a appt for a camera recalibration. But when I got there, they said they couldn't do it. Recently, I had a recall notice and called to set up an appt. They said it could take a half a day, they didn't know. I asked to get an oil change too. I took off a day of work. When I arrived, they said my car didn't need the recall. They were argumentative and claimed I only booked an oil change. Other times I've called and the service department has just hung up on me. read more

I had a pretty frustrating experience purchasing my vehicle from start to finish. It started with the day that I came in to view the vehicle. I made an appointment several hours ahead of time, yet when I arrived the car was in a lot while it was raining pretty heavily. It had been raining for hours prior to my arrival. I had to ask the sales associate if we could move the car into a sheltered area so that I could inspect it without getting poured on. I liked the vehicle and agreed to purchase it if they fixed a chip and a dent on the exterior. They agreed to fix the exterior as part of the certification process that the vehicle had yet to go through. This agreement happened on a Friday, yet I was asked to bring in my down payment and trade in the following Monday, which I knew would not be adequate time to certify the vehicle and repair the exterior. I reached out to the sales associate and he agreed they would need more time. This didn't sit well with me as it made me feel they weren't going to honor their end of the bargain if I didn't mention it. Towards the end of the week I was informed that the car was back from the shop and the damage was fully repaired. I was also promised that the car would be spotless and ready for me to take delivery on Saturday morning. When I arrived at 10am, I was happy with the repair but the car's exterior and interior were far from clean. I asked if they would clean it as promised and they agreed. It took 10 minutes to sign the paperwork and then I waited 3 hours for them to wash and detail the car. Then I found out from the sales manager that they discovered a large gash in one of the tires during the cleaning process. My understanding is that this should have been discovered during the 182 point certification process they promised they did. In fact, the certification report showed that they signed off that the wheels were inspected and met the standards. So I had to wait an additional hour (4 hours altogether) for them to change out the tire. When that was finally done, I was handed the keys and ready to go home. On my way home I noticed that I had less than a quarter tank of gas, when I was promised a full tank. Also when connecting my phone, I noticed the previous owner's iphone was still in the settings. This should also have been noticed during the 182 point certification process. It was also checked off as if they had done it. This makes me really question the legitimacy of their certification process. All in all it was a pretty infuriating experience. I would suggest be extremely cautious when purchasing from this dealership. read more

I came to this dealership for a standard B1 service on my 2023 vehicle. They recommended $1,800 in additional services - on a 18 month old car. They recommended the same services to another woman in the waiting area. It must be their version of "premium air" that people joke about. Then to top it off, 10 miles down the road the check tire pressure notification came on. After trying to rip me off they adjusted the tire pressure wrong. read more

Not a new customer at all. Have had my vehicle serviced there multiple times. I'm on disability so when my car started getting loud near the end of the month, no rattling or clanging, just loud, I had to get an oil change at least. I asked the tech C if an oil change could be financed; he said everything could be. I told him good; that's all I wanted. I even asked how much ($88). Somehow I end up with a $282 bill for a brake fluid service I knew NOTHING about."You authorized it" is all C and Rachael the service manager will tell me. I have NO recollection of authorizing anything beyond an oil change. Taking advantage of people should be criminal!!! Now that I'm on the hook for over triple what I intended to pay or agreed to pay, after waiting patiently for my car for over five hours, all Pure Honda can do is shrug. He called me back at 9:58 am to tell me they we're sending the car to the body shop I could take delivery in 3 days. He would call me back with exact price for my bank and to take my deposit. Recently my wife's car was rear ended by none other than some bozo in a Mercedes ML series suv. Our insurance totalled her car. Today's age of blue chip shortage and all. So now we need a car. We looked and looked had 2 choices a 2019 Honda Fit at Ferndale a CPO and a 2019 Honda Civic in Cleveland OH also a CPO. I was all willing and able to make the drive into the heart of the Buckeye, but my wife suggested we should check out the Fit first then head to Cleveland if we didn't like the Fit. So this am well it became pm by the time we got there. Our contact was Lexy A. Lexy turned out to be a lovely young lady who attentively listened to me and my wife and we decided to take the Fit for a test drive. Lovely car if you are of a tiny build, which I am not. The steering wheel was pressed against my belly while we drove around town. Acceleration was sub-par. Suspension felt quite stiff. Specially over all of Michigan's potholes. We headed back to Pure Honda and my wife could sense I was not a happy camper. They had a white Civic we test drove that next. WE LOVED IT!! We finally said our goodbyes and came home. The white 2019 Civic is parked outside. Thankyou Lexy A. And thank you Pure Honda for hiring awesome people like Lexy and also the sale manager dude (forgot his name sorry). I was quoted a lease price for a CRV - with $7000 down, wait for it .... $800 plus a month. Should I be offended? Yes Plus, it isn't like this dealership is sparkling and easy to get to or find. They use the White Castle lot for their own use. If you are coming north bound on Woodward you can make a right on a side street. Park in front of someone's house or White Castle? If you are coming southbound on Woodward if you miss the turn around to hit said side street you need to go into Detroit under the 8 Mile then loop back up. If you go in the back where it looks like it's the appropriate place to park, you walk in through an unwelcoming door then traverse through some weird barren area until you get to the showroom. Bizarre. I just don't get it. Hit up the dealerships on the west side- it will make more sense for you. read more

Go to Wikipedia for the definition of what we in more genteel terms might call "defecating in one's sleeping quarters," you are not unlikely to see an image of a 19th century woodcarving of the service team at Pure Honda in Ferndale operating on my ailing 2009 Fit. I had a rather unfortunate, once-in-a-million outcome from the June floods in Detroit, wherein I bought gas at a gas station on the city's west side-- and the underground tanks had filled with water. Needless to say, this caused some problems, and it's been my experience in Southeast Michigan that you really have to hunt around for a mechanic who understands foreign cars. "I've never seen a transmission like this," one dude, who came highly recommended from a friend, told me. So, I brought it to the dealership, really solely because I had an insurance claim. (There is a reason why they call them "stealerships"). The service folks assured me that they'd have the issue figured out in no time-- they'd check it out within 24 hours and have the diagnostic test completed. This initial phase was more like four days. This turned into literally more than a month of being in the shop. It was a long back-and-forth. First, the engine was misfiring and they didn't know what was causing it (even though I had independently verified that there was, in fact, a bunch of water in the gas tank). Next, they figured they could replace the spark plugs and at least one ignition coil. Then, the EGR port had been damaged, and had to be completely replaced. This was three separate conversations. I never received written estimates, in accordance with the law, it was all just sort of haphazard. Every time I had to call. After this, they actually called me-- this is in late July now, nearly a month after I dropped it off- and told me that my car was, for all intents and purposes, as good as new! So, I ride my bike up to Ferndale, because, like the good Communist Socialist Marxist liberal, hippie dippie, devil-worshipping, baby-eating Democrat I am, I actually ride a bike to get around most of the time because I really hate having to drive everywhere (oh, and my car was unusable-- minor point). When I arrived at the dealership, though, they were like, "oh, yeah, sorry, just kidding, your engine is still misfiring." TWO WEEKS WENT BY. I called from a work trip. "Ah, yes," the service manager said, picking up, clearly sheepish that they hadn't communicated with me. They basically were like, yeah, your engine is effed, you will need a new one. Is it because they waited a month to tackle the issue? Probably. Should they have dropped the gas tank immediately to drain it and put new fuel into it, as is the common practice in gas tank contamination instead of just putting a few bottles of dri-gas into it? Well, yeah. Should I take them to small claims? Probably, because even though my car was totaled, I didn't have a car for nearly two months, which also cost me hundreds of dollars in insurance, plus lost productivity. But like, honestly? I'm just kind of glad to not have to worry about a car anymore. Now I can ride off into the sunset on my electric bicycle, without having to pay $168 a month in Detroit insurance, or without having to pay $3.50 a gallon for gas. Join the mobility evolution! Ditch the car! Oh, and don't ever go here. read more

Yea the sales dude was pushy and probs on a lot of caffeine but whatever it's a sales dude. The staff is incredibly friendly and we've always been taken care of. John Normand took care of my issue. I bought a CPO vehicle but its underside wasn't attached properly. I am still not completely happy about the situation as I was told it was my fault that the undercarriage of my car was hanging, and that I caused it. At the time of writing this I only drove about 600miles about a month in and had to get gas once. The gas station that I went to has a steep entrance but nothing a car/suv can handle, but my cars bottom side hit the pavement. It's a CPO I had no reason to verify/inspect the vehicle thoroughly before purchase. But if I ever buy another vehicle from this place again I will thoroughly check wether its new or CPO or used. I made my 8:15 am appt on time for a sway bar link replacement for the front end. At the most a 30 minute job. By 5:00pm my car was still sitting in the back untouched. When I questioned the intake worker why things were taking so long he replied that an appointment only gets you in the building. I was so disgusted that I took my car without it being serviced. I just tried to schedule non-emergency service and the service advisor told me they are busy and I would need to leave my car for a week before they could get to it. I asked if I could keep my car and schedule service for a future date. He said ma'am we are busy and can't put your car in front of others. I said I wasn't asking for preferential treatment and again asked if I could book a future appointment. Again he told me I couldn't be put in front of others and I'd need to leave my car for a week. Brought my CRV in for diagnosis of slow acceleration and dieseling symptoms - charged over a grand to replace spark plugs and fuel injection work. A week later the AWD warning light came on again, charged additional $150.00 to tell me the rear differential needs to be replaced to the tune of $5,000.00 - so they charged me a grand for unnecessary work and refused my request to waive the $150.00 inspection fee. Never going back there - use Tamaroff Honda- larger operation with better mechanics. read more

Our 2010 Honda CRV had some issue with transmission (ever since we brought from the previous owner 2 years ago we forgot to change transmission fluid), the warning light and D shift kept blinking, it worried us a lot. After took her to Pure Honda, Nicole has been very helpful and the mechanics also helped us. After first time they changed the transmission fluid, all the warning signals were gone with test drive to make sure. But it came back again, when we took it back, this time they adjusted the balance of fluid and test drive again, then no more problem. I go to this location because it's five minutes from my house and the staff is friendly. I have a 2009 Honda Civic with well over 100,000 miles so at this point I find that it's better to have it serviced by people who understand the life cycle of a durable car. I think they run about the same pace as other dealerships (which is of course always slower than we'd all prefer) and their hours are less convenient if I'm trying to get to work on time - service doesn't open until 8 am. I'm not the best at judging prices but I believe that they may run a smidge high. They do good work and don't typically recommend unnecessary maintenance that other dealerships have sometimes tried to push, which combined with the convenient location is the deciding factor for me. read more

I brought my car here after calling them and they said they could fix it. 9 days later, they called me to come pick up my car because it was "too much" to do to fix it and it wasnt worth fixing it. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. Do not bring your car here for fixing because clearly they are not skilled enough to do any type of auto work. read more

I started coming here years ago and it's changed hands a few times. I've had some good service or at least what I considered fair in the past. Had a broken mirror and called for an appointment for an estimate. I was informed it would be at least one hour for the estimate and to plan accordingly. I arrived for my estimate and left my car with a service advisor. It wasn't the person that's helped me in the past and he was there and said hello. I went inside and barely sat down when the young man came back. He informed me the entire mirror had to be replace and it would be $674 dollars. This would need to be prepaid to order in advance. Next he said that the install was quick - only 15 minutes and would cost $177. I think he sort of expected me to fork over my credit card and I politely told him I'd have to think about it. He would not give me a quote in writing just said "everyone would be able to see on the system". Went to an auto parts store tonight - yes I know it might not be a "Honda" original- however I could get the part unpainted for $175. Bottom line - I will not return here for a car, a part (even though it's conveniently located to me), or even an oil change. read more

I have decided to purchase a Honda Insight hybrid after several hours of search on internet. I stopped at Dunning Honda which turns out to be the best one I have had.  Mr. Shelton Taylor at Dunning Honda was prompt, professional, possessed great knowledge of the product.
