Lots of food vendors, stages, etc, but the best thing I like about this Festival is the Oakland vibe. Every time I go, it reminds me of Festival At The Lake or Hip-Hop On The Green. Especially near the main stage when the main artists are doing their thing. This year was no different. Yes, the $15 entrance fee and $5 parking was higher than last year, but it was worth it to me, I don't mind paying if I'm enjoying myself. Keep doing you Oakland!!!

Mad Noise is the sickest band in the Bay Area…read more I heard these guys jamming at the Ferry Building Farmer's Market, where they are every Saturday from 9-2, and they blew me away. I have since also seen them at the Ex'pression College Battle of the Bands, which they won by a huge margin. To say that they rock is the understatement of the year. The front man, Khalil, brings a funky fun to his neo-soul croonings and does a mix of original material and fantastic covers. The rest of the band, Chris on the standup bass (how awesome is it to see a standup bass in street performance!), Pharoah on harmonicas and assorted percussion (the man has lung power like no other), and Mowgli on buckets (that's right, I said buckets) add a depth and creativity to Khalil's performances that take the band to a whole new level. If you haven't heard Mad Noise yet, you're missing out. Love, love, LOVE these guys!!!

These stars are no longer for potential my friends! The people are nice, the promoter is sweet and the DJ's are AMAZING. It is a cool place where I can go with my boyfriend or I can go by myself and feel perfectly safe as I'll see a lot of the same friendly faces. It's like Cheers, but cooler and with bootie popping. My favorite thing about this club is that it's an actual club. You can plan a party, I think you can arrange bottle service (I think!!), and people dress for a club...that's cool. I've been to other BBW clubs from San Diego to San Francisco and NONE of the other ones have those basic features. Thee only reason this club isn't getting 5 stars is because the venue charges a bit much for drinks. It turns out that the bar had exactly 2 drink menus that everyone needed to share. Later, when the other guests ran off to the show (Jason Isbell) I grabbed a copy and took these photos. Outside of the snafu with the drink menu, everything was better than I expected. And everyone that works there is super friendly and welcoming. Keep up the good work TR people...

Expected to feel like we'd paid too much, but actually really enjoyed not waiting in a long line, getting a snack (pizza on this night), grabbing a few drinks and having comfy sofas to lounge on before going to find our seats. We also had access to a roped off area near the large bar just at the back of the general admission floor area, which was raised and where we had a clear view to the stage. We were also treated very well as we went back and forth from the lounge room to our seats, to the viewing area, etc. I'd do it again in a second. The only thing is I wish they'd announce what the snacks were going to be ahead of time. I feel like that could be easy to do and would be in line with their already good service. The concert was being shown in the Telegraph Room, too.
