They do have a clearance section towards the back of the store, but most of the stuff there was actually past its best before date. If you love gourmet stinky cheeses, they had lots! As for me, I'll just stick to brie, harvati and other benign to the nose cheeses thank you very much ;) Fun store to poke around. Lots of free parking.

They have everything an upscale kitchen could need - from the tools to the groceries, including (but not limited to) spices - right down the pepper and salt mills, cheeses, chips, dishes, pots and pans, and top end coffee makers. I will definitely be back to try out the coffee shop in the corner. You need the rest that refreshes (coffee) after a stroll through this shop. What was I waiting for?? They had some very good sales - leftovers from Christmas. I picked up a mug for myself (which had the design of a scarf and mittens. What can I say? I'm a knitter!) and one of those stoneware cookie molds which came with a recipe. This was on sale at a good price; I've seen it at double that elsewhere in the city. Did you know that there's a difference in the mechanisms of a pepper and salt mills? Apparently the salt can rust and corrode a pepper mill, and the pepper is too hard for a salt mill. Whodathunk?! I actually went in looking for coffee pots. The ones we have at work have been seriously used and abused. I'm also feeling the need for an espresso or latté machine, and was hoping I might find one of those nifty combo things here. Turns out that the design I'm thinking of is a bit passé. Too bad for me! However, the good coffee makers they have here are too good for work (read: expensive), and could almost be professional, like for coffee shops. So, I will have to keep shopping. Yum. I've just gotta say this place was very inspiring!!

From adorable themed ceramic salt shakers, to linen aprons, hand blown glasses in many colours, wooden cutting boards, or the tiniest most elegant set of gold cutlery -- they have it. It's the perfect shop for anyone looking to spend $15-25 on a simple gift, or to fix a problem you didn't know could be solved (like finding the perfect mess-free cookie scooper). The staff are usually friendly, though as a younger shopper I notice they tend to be more willing to chat with older shoppers rather than me. Perhaps to be expected in a home décor shop, haha.

J.D. Adam is a gem that is easy to overlook. I went looking for a nutmeg grinder. The Emporium had one type, JDA had three (!) that were specifically for nutmeg and a range of other graters that would also work. If you are a cook, you will understand how important it is to have the right tool. If not, well, then none of this review makes any sense to you anyway. Price are good. Service is terrific. Friendly and helpful without being in your face. However, with the amount of stock they have in a small space, it is a good idea to just ask for what you need rather than hunt around. Nutmeg grater with cheese grater, not nut cracker, for example. I ended up buying microplanes and tea towels and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. (If you understood what I bought, then you should visit JD Adam yourself.)

I've heard of some stores selling fake vapes ex. Pax but these guys have the real thing for sure. The staff are friendly and helpful and actually know what they are talking about in the product.

I'm never a fan of upstairs downtown locations with a staircase to climb, there are no extra additions to this store it's pretty bare bones, no extras like flags or t-shirts, it's just got the basics no frills nothing fancy, the staff are a little more knowledgeable then your average head shop employee. The sad thing is that this business has only been around for a year or two and they're already telling customers that they can re-stock their inventory because of the poor Canadian dollar or they can't stock accessories because their supplier wants a ridiculous amount for a minimum order, these were the excuses I received when I wanted to spend money and/or wanted product, I've been turned away more than I have purchased. It's unfortunate when small businesses suffer when they are run inadequately and become unsuccessful in a small period of time.

I purchased three cigars, all excellent quality (I don't buy bad cigars), and VERY reasonably priced too. The one I smoked was moist and fresh all the way through. They have a lot of stuff in the store, shirts, mugs, cups, lanyards, knick knacks, and shisha & coals with the pipes for the aficionados. The location in Byward market is somewhat hidden, but in a great location overall. Well done, Sir, I will be back.

My friend always buys lemon and mint and then mixes them. The guy who is usually working here is actually really helpful and last time we were there he suggested that she squeeze lemon into the water for an even better taste. There are also souvenirs sold here for the tourists and cigars. I have to admit that I'm a bit of a cigar snob, so I don't feel that these are fresh or good enough for me, but like Shisha, it's hard to find good cigars in Ottawa anyways.

They have lots of stuff for your home, including furniture, and I also find that Zone is a great place to find unique gifts for bridal showers, etc. So here's the good and the bad. The good: This place is a delight to walk through. They have a unique selection of stuff for the home, and if you like to shop you will for sure love Zone. Their HQ is in Montreal, and all the staff are fully bilingual in this location. I saw another review of this place that disparaged the customer service, but that hasn't been my experience at all. I think the staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and just plain lovely. If you see something you want that isn't in stock, they can order it in for you (usually from Montreal). The less-than-good: Normally when I walk in and buy something, the experience is seamless. There have been a couple of occasions where I had to have something ordered in because it was out of stock. On one occasion they neglected to call me when my item arrived, so I was waiting for quite a long time before I actually got it. When we ordered our couch, the delivery service was not the greatest. Last year literally every time I went into Zone to order something there were hiccups caused by the installation of a new inventory/POS system on the back end, which makes me think maybe the staff could have been trained better. The pros of this shop far outweigh the cons, and I love to come into Zone and take a peek around every now and then. People always ask "where did you get that?" about some of the quirky items in our home, and usually the answer is "Zone, in the market!"
